Rain, Rain Go Away

August 13, 2009 at 9:20 am by Claudia

Enough, already. Rain and more rain…thunderstorms, power outages, humidity. Welcome to the Hudson Valley in August. Frankly, I’m trying to be tolerant, but failing. My poor husband, who has been here all summer enduring much more rain than usual, is beyond tired of it.

And these guys?

Bored.

Wants to go for a walk.
Sorry, little ones…too wet outside. Maybe I’ll try some sewing. My little sewing nook is lovely but its home in the hallway with no A/C limits my time there in the summer. But today is dark and rainy…so perhaps it will be cool enough to create something? Cross your fingers.

My Spare Time

June 11, 2009 at 10:04 pm by Claudia

Some of you have asked what I am sewing. Well, I am sewing together quilt blocks. This is one I have been working on for a long time – too long – and I promised myself I would complete the top while I was in San Diego. I have about 6 rows sewn together.

I’ve also been sewing some blocks for an online quilt along – I thought it would keep me occupied during the day – my work at the theater has moved to the evenings. I used some fabric I had on hand. This will probably be a throw kind of quilt. (You can see the hideous carpeting here at the apartment; something all of us staying here at the various apartments have commented on.)

And, with the scraps from the quilt along, I made these 2 hearts.

It keeps me off the streets.

This and That

March 26, 2009 at 1:21 pm by Claudia

Thought I’d post a few more photos from the Barn Sale that didn’t make it into the first post. Love this birdcage on wheels – oh, if only I lived in a bigger house! My friend Donna would love this.

This sweet corner shelf was so charming, especially with the lace draped over it.

I want this birdhouse…but then there are many things I wanted at this sale.

These are fabric Easter eggs I am in the midst of sewing. Unfortunately, I am having problems with the tension on the Featherweight, so they are on hold until my friend, Ingrid, can stop by and help me out. I haven’t finished stuffing these – they need more Poly-fil – but I love the look of them. In my next post, I’ll give the link to the tutorial for these little cuties.

I have a full day ahead with classes, coaching, a faculty meeting and more coaching. Bye for now.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
