This and That

November 14, 2018 at 8:58 am by Claudia

Not only are we getting a lot of snow tomorrow, we’re also getting ice Thursday night.

Apparently, our first snowfall won’t be pretty event. I’m already sick of winter and it hasn’t officially begun!

Today will find us moving the A/C units out of the windows, cleaning up the porch, buying salt and getting the snow shovels out of the shed. I have a lot to do today!

This little mustard pot/crock arrived yesterday. It was an impulse buy, but I’m glad I went for it. It’s probably from the late 1800s – early 1900s and it’s got great graphics and an appropriate amount of rust. They don’t make packaging like this anymore, do they?

Since I have a marmalade crock from the British Isles, I figured I needed some sort of crock from France, too.

What else is new? Don is singing in a concert in Manhattan on Sunday evening. It’s to be a concert version of new musical that is in development called Johnny and the Devil’s Box. The music is bluegrass. One of the music directors from Margaritaville  is working on it and recommended Don, as well as Don’s co-star, Rema Webb. It’s being done live with an audience with the intention of getting a good recording of the entire score.

I’m still working on Anastasia, but won’t be back there until November 20th. A young Australian pop star is coming in to replace the male lead and we’re working together to get him ready to take over the role at the end of November. Then I have another project starting up in December, a bit of work on a production of A Man for All Seasons. It’s all good.

Okay. Have to get moving. Time for work outside and it’s cold out there!

Happy Wednesday.

Disappointed. Ah, Well.

April 2, 2018 at 10:08 am by Claudia

This is happening right now, smack dab in the middle of the chunk of time in which Don would be traveling home for a 24 hour visit. It’s snowing in the city as well. Even if he tried to get home later, the visit would end up being so short that it wouldn’t be worth it. I had – foolishly – thought it would just be a dusting of snow that would make no difference, but we got more than expected.

So we made the decision to forego the visit.

I am so over this stuff. It’s been nothing but a pain this entire winter. I know it will melt quickly, but I would have preferred it happening on another day. Who am I kidding? I would have preferred it never happening to begin with! And I wanted to see my husband.

Ah well. And there are bigger problems out there. We’re just disappointed.

I had a quiet day yesterday, with nothing much happening. I finished watching the third season of Broadchurch  on Netflix. If you are a fan of that series, watch the newest season of 8 episodes. Truly excellent. I also watched Easter Parade  on TCM because I love it. I’m not a fan of Jesus Christ Superstar, so I didn’t watch it except for the last 20 minutes. But that last 20 minutes makes me want to watch the whole thing, so I’m hoping it’s eventually available On Demand. The guy who played Judas is the same actor I saw play Aaron Burr in Hamilton. He’s amazingly talented.

Happy Monday.

Out of the Blue

March 25, 2018 at 10:10 am by Claudia

We had an out-of-the-blue snow shower this morning, the kind where big, fat snow flakes are swirling around in the air, settling on the ground and on surfaces, only to disappear a short time later. Rather magical.

So I pulled on my coat and boots and took a picture or two.

Now the sun is trying to make an appearance. We’re not quite there yet. Update: It just emerged!

Warmer temperatures are on the docket for the week ahead. Not unseasonably warm, just what they should be at this time of year. Now we enter that in-between time here in the Northeast. It’s no longer winter, but it’s not warm enough to do anything in the garden. I do have some cleanup to do from the fallen tree limb, but I want to be completely done with this cold before I attempt that. I’m looking forward to it, though! Just getting out there and doing something (other than shoveling snow) will be lovely.

I promised you a picture of the bunny pillow and promptly forgot about it until this morning. Here it is. I love this design, which looks like it’s been carved out of a wood block and stamped on the fabric. I haven’t seen any of my bunnies yet, but when they appear, I’ll be a happy camper.

As long as they stay out of my garden.

Happy Sunday.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
