It was unbelievably hot and humid yesterday with some thunderstorms. We basically stayed inside.
I couldn’t concentrate on my book and the weather is wreaking havoc on my allergies, so I decided to take a photo of some of the girls.

Jessie, Wren, and Audrey. Before I took it, I changed Wren’s outfit.
And then I found myself redressing a few more girls. I’ve been wanting to do this for a few months, but everything I wrote about in Wednesday’s post has kept me from it. I just couldn’t get motivated.
I pulled out the suitcases full of clothes and made a start. If I’m in the right frame of mind, this simple task can be incredibly soothing. I grab a few girls, look for something that suits them, and start the transformation. It’s almost meditative.
So Wren got her change and then Harper, Miranda, and Lily.

Here they are on the ottoman that is in front of my chair. Once I’m finished, I hang out with them for a while.
I’m going to try to redress a couple of girls every day. I mean, a couple of them still have sweaters on! Since the temps here are going up to 99 next week, I think they’ll appreciate something to wear that’s cooler.
Hey, it’s my little doll world and sometimes it is the perfect escape.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

I completely understand how redressing and working with the girls would be an escape…those looks, as well as their darling clothes! Fun diversion! We’re actually having cooler weather, which is nice, but it’s also been pretty windy. The electric company may be shutting power off to some in the Bay Area as a means of preventing fires, though there’s been a few around already.
I hope your area stays safe from fires, Barrie. Hang in there.
Stay safe.
sweet outfits, sweet faces and enjoyable for you. a very nice “escape”, for sure. :)
my “escape” lately is taking a few minutes to look at sweet and funny “shorts”/videos on yt. one i’ve watched repeatedly? toddlers with scottish accents. and puppies. and reunions. another treat this morning was enjoying strong rain with thunder and lightning. only lasted a half-hour, but it was wonderful! :)
prayers for everyone dealing with tough weather, the stress from you-know-who’s chaos and too many elected officials’ failure to provide reason and the check/balance to that chaos, or other troubles. hugs, too.
stay safe in every way. and cool, too.
kathy
Glad you got some rain, Kathy.
Stay safe.
OOOO. Do the girls have lots of new clothes or are they just unfamiliar because of the season change?
Ceci
No new clothes. They don’t need any more clothes!
Stay safe, Ceci.
dear Claudia/Don — we too are expecting 90s+ next week — don’t think it will be pleasant for any of us. enjoy seeing your “girls” — each one is unique with great personalities — thanks for “playing” and sharing with all of us. I can’t believe that no matter how outrageous tRump gets with his actions/words, many/most still love/praise him. how can this be?? Mr has relatives in WKy who practically worship the ground tRump walks on — why? sure makes phone calls short!! I don’t think my opinion of him will ever change — he wants to be a dictator of an all–white nation and he has lots of supporters — sounds like hItler all over again — we are doomed. hope you all can have a safe/healthy weekend.
I agree with everything but that “we are doomed.” We are winning in so many ways. The people are marching, the courts are putting a stop to his illegal executive orders, etc. We are stronger than they are.
Stay safe, Linda.
So Sweet! <3
Hoping I can get a little weeding done before it gets intolerable. Last thing I want to do but know I'm behind when the mugwort is as tall as me. 5'!
I have tons of mugwort – just started appearing a couple of years ago.
Stay safe, Betsy.
Those sweet ‘girls’ adorable! Love their little outfits!!! Yes, we are due to have 97-99 degree temps for about 7-9 days straight starting Monday and then 1st week of July back to heavy thunderstorms every afternoon. It is blisteringly hot out there – I don’t do well in the extreme heat any more, lol.
I don’t either. Especially when it’s coupled with humidity.
Stay safe, Dawn.
Lovely to see your dolls in their beautiful clothes. Knowing the clothing is hand-made (not factory-made) makes the creations more special. From trying to sew Barbie clothes, I know handling small seams can be challenging. My daughters have American Girl dolls (purchased before the company was sold to Mattel and the quality went way down, both in the dolls and the clothes). Sewing outfits for these dolls is so much easier! Hmmm, I’ll take a page out of your book and nudge the daughters to change their dolls’ clothing.
I’ve heard several people complain about the quality of American Girls Dolls. Almost predictable, isn’t it?
Thanks, Wendy.
Stay safe.
What a lovely group of young women you have!
Take Care and stay cool,
Kaye
Thank you so much, Kaye.
Stay safe.
Your dolls have the cutest clothes! I always enjoy seeing them.
It’s so difficult to be happy right now with the orange man wreaking havoc everywhere and the other horrible things happening in the world. My dear husband, my two cats, and the beauty of nature are the only things giving me comfort right now.
Take care, Claudia and Don.
I’m happy your loved ones are giving you comfort, Lily. And nature, of course – always a comfort.
Stay safe.
Oh, my, what fun to see your girls in their summer wardrobes. Please keep the fashion show coming. My friend found the cutest little wooden school desk at a garage sale, just a perfect size for my dolls, Jessie and Walter. You’ve inspired me to get out their summer duds. Have a nice weekend, Claudia. Stay cool. Our heatwave is starting Sunday. Well, it is Summer! Hugs, Elaine
It is summer, but very hot a little too quickly!
Stay safe, Elaine.
Loving those dolls’ duds. I ordered a doll dress tonight. I know what you mean because I get my box out and the dolls on the bed and have fun talking with them while I dress them in other clothes. Even my dog is interested. We aren’t too old to play! Love my blythes.
Guess what, it’s raining outside!!!!
We are never too old to play, Irene!
Glad it’s raining!
Stay safe.
Get those girls out of those sweaters! Yup — it’s going to be a hot one. We’re due for 100 — and that doesn’t count the heat index, which will bring up the 90s to that. I picked a bad week to be away from the lake!
The girls are looking cute. That feels like a fine hunker-down activity. Take care and stay cool (if you can!)
You, too! Can you go up to the lake anyway?
Stay safe, Jeanie.
I wish I could. Doc appointments I can’t miss. Dealing with a nasty ear infection and also trying to get in others before I’m away for most of the summer. I don’t have air-con so I may be taking some long drives in the car! Or dropping in on friends who do have it!
xoxo
