I’m a little late with this today, but on top of everything else, I’m so out of it that I mistyped the password for the blog (twice) and locked myself out!
I did post on IG earlier. We’re still sick – both of us. I finally went to the doctor yesterday just to rule out pneumonia and bronchitis and I don’t have either. It’s just something that’s going around – the doctor said it lasts for about 2- 3 weeks. All I know is that I wouldn’t wish this on my worst enemy.
I started antibiotics, just in case they might help.
I’m completely wiped out. I’m coughing half the night. I don’t feel like eating much.
And to top it off, we’re getting a big snow event along with sleet and freezing rain. Since neither of us is capable of shoveling, and we know it’s going to warm up in a day or so, we’re just going to leave the snow and ice to melt.
I’ll be in and out on the blog, depending on how I feel.
Thanks, friends.

The bad weather is hard enough to deal with, but then to be sick on top of that is awful! Take care you two.

Claudia, Ugh…! Unfortunately, there’s nothing one can do about a stubborn virus except allow it to run its course. But, load up on Vit C, hot drinks, and lots of books or movies, comfy pillows and a blankie. I hope you and Don are back at 100% soon, and warmer temps to deal with the ice and snow.
It’s cold-ish here, but not anywhere near the neighborhood of your temps. I’m waiting for the e-cyclers to come haul away my electronics for recycling, including a huge TV, pre-flat screen. Meanwhile, the monthly financial paperwork to pay bills and balance the checkbook. Then something fun…sewing of my daughter’s skirt, needlepointing my San Francisco street map canvas, and reading my new book (I actually bought it!), Ruth Bader Ginsberg, In Her Own Words. Also binging on Inspector Lewis.
Feel better! Get those cat naps in during the day to tide you over the wakefulness of the nights.

Hi Claudia,
I’ve had the same – try mustard plasters to relieve the congestion before you end up with a chest infection. It works for me. We have a ton of snow here on Vancouver Island where we rarely get snow. My husband has just had knee replacement surgery so no shovelling for him. I don’t normally have to shovel so this is all new to me. Can’t say I’m a fan of it. Hope you feel better soon. Sharon

Thanks for checking in with us. Rest and I hope you feel better real soon.

Take care of yourselves. This sounds like a virus I had once that would not go away! Well of course it finally did but it too way too long. Rest up and get well both of you.
Rose Hester says
That does not sound good, Hope you and Don get better soon.
Penny Spencer says
Oh, please feel better soon. That virus is terrible. My teeth were even hurting from my sinuses being congested. Michigan is having the same crappy weather. Snow weighs a ton with the ice on top. Take care and just get lots of rest.
Dee Dee says
Get well soon. Meanwhile, keep warm and take plenty of fluids. If you’re not going out, no need to shovel! If you can catch up on tv programmes, now is the time to do so.

It’s probably a bit late, but a spoon of elderberry syrup helps prevent colds and flus, and if you get it, 1-2 teaspoons 2-3 times a day can greatly reduce symptoms and duration. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks for checking in! So sorry that you and Don are feeling so yucky. Hope you both are up and about real soon. In the mean time, rest and drink lots of fluids (that’s what my mother used to say).

Good to hear from you! And here I thought you were on the mend, what with your library visit you had planned…so sorry to hear this news. Resting and drinking plenty of fluids is always good advice..but, after this long I’m sure you are ready to kick this thing to the curb!
Take care….is it today you can watch the snow melt? ;)

I do not have any new medical advice to offer that the others have not said. Of course, I wish you both well ASAP.

hate to tell you this but I had it a lot longer than 2 or 3 weeks.
the kind doctor must be thinking of an ordinary cold. there is nothing ‘ordinary’
about this thing! I finally … make that FINALLY! … am just now feeling more like myself.
just rest and try to relax as much as you can! I was just so grateful to be retired!
because I would have had to work with it. and there were some days I thought they might just find my old lifeless body here! LOL. sending you and Don both hugs and healing vibes.
AND. as much as we love it… this blog should be the least of your worries! just REST!
and get well! XO XO

You two take care of yourselves and each other, and we will be here. I hope you know that.
We just had that snow from Monday night through yesterday. It lasted nearly 24 hours ~ about 12 inches. But, it was kind of a light and fluffy crud and the sun is out today and it is melting. So, as has been the case for thousand and thousands of years, just let it melt, it will do so. I’m betting you probably aren’t going anywhere in the next couple of days. Sending you both wishes to soon feel better.

This virus is going around in Minnesota, too. My husband and I have it. My son’s family has it. It’s all over the place. Winter and germs love each other :-(
Janet in Rochester says
That sucks. February usually sucks. Keep doing what you’re doing etc. PS – are you humidifying your home? You don’t need a glamorous or expensive humidifier. Just having bowls of water in inconspicuous places [so they don’t get knocked over] is really helpful. I’ve been keeping a pretty ceramic bowl of water [about quart size] in my living room & bedroom for 5+ years and have experienced lots less illness [and no more Winter nosebleeds at all]. My MD said keeping your nose & throat moist in important – the evil little germies that cause colds, flu, sore throats etc can’t get into your system if the membranes there are moist. Evidently, if you’re dry, it’s a piece of cake for them. Bonus – the extra moisture is good for skin too [duh]. Feel better immediately you guys! Lots of rest & hot beverages with lemon! Peace. ☀️

Hope you both feel better soon. I happened to catch The Colin McEnroe show on NPR the other day in the car and he was interviewing your Darco! If you didn’t catch it you can probably you tube it and listen while you recuperate. 🙂
