He just can’t take a bad picture.
No double chin, sagging jowls, wonky smile, messy hair. He always looks good, our Chippie.
(All photos taken from inside the house, of course. Anything else would have scared him away.)
Another rainy day here in the Hudson Valley. I’m feeling a bit less than tip-top, so I’m going to take it easy.
Happy Saturday.
Well you get to feeling better! I showed my 6 yr old grandson the pictures of Chippy! He loved them! Happy Saturday, Becky
Oh, good! Chippie is awfully adorable!
Chippies are fine. The voles arrived last year. They are NOT fine. Did much garden damage. They eat the roots of plants, especially hostas. I had to water them (the hostas) several times per day all summer to keep them alive. No sign of them yet this year (the voles). Only deer and rabbits doing damage. It is a constant battle that I forget about each winter and look forward to my garden come the spring. Then I am reminded, cute as the critters may be.
We are fortunate, I guess. We have deer and they sometimes do damage, but rarely. Same with the rabbits. And I know we have some sort of critter that makes the occasional hole in the lawn, but no damage to my gardens. I think it helps the we have a wooded area and so many wild areas bordering the property – there’s plenty to dine on.
hope you feel better soon and have an easy day!
and your chippie (we call them “squinnies” here) is adorable.
kathy in iowa
I’ve never hear ‘squinnies’ but it’s delightful!
Chippie is adorable! And you are right…they don’t take a bad picture. Around here, we’ve always called them Alvin and Co., they are cute but noisy. Take care of yourself today…I’ll be puttering around the house today, with rain and storms expected later. Enjoy your day! ;)
I rarely hear mine, not sure why! There are at least two of them on the property because I’ve seen them chasing each other and playing. We’re expecting storms, too. And rainy days through Monday.
Chippie is adorable! Rest and feel better. It is so hot here I wish I had a pool! Hugs!
I often wish the same!
No chippies in my area, just squirrels and ground squirrels. The last time I saw one was when I was in Lake Tahoe years ago. It was sunning itself on a rock. You’d think a rodent like a chipmunk could live anywhere ….
They like rocks. Mine often sits on the rocks at the top of the garden.
We had a chipmunk in the house a few years ago. What a production to get him out…trapped him and released him. And we had 3 dogs and a cat at the time, so you can imagine the hilarity of that.
Hope you are feeling better. The heat does me in some days.
Goodness! That must have been stressful! Glad he was released safely.
Hey Claudia,
Your photos are always so pretty and I love the way nature photos done well make me feel!
Take care of yourself and feel better…. (it is the “by myself” at times , only at times, I don’t feel good about taking care of myself! the commercials make me mad! haha. Sister, not all of us have our ~ONE~ with us right now at the moment I want to shout. But at least I CAN take care of myself.
I am finally eating up the News again b/c that creep is getting even creepier= D trump. I am in the South and I did not like him when I first read about him and his whole personality way way back. By the way since we are the same age, do you remember any president with such a scowl and mean look? It is horrid but it looks like he acts. When does he smile? In the mirror?
Sorry, I just had to say it.
love and Peace and
“~~somethings happening here; what is’ ain’t exactly clear”~~~ a bit of the late 60s -1970 for you and your hubby! What statements our fellow Boomers made with the music. I was a hippie in the South but near UNC and Duke..much easier!
Have a good day, my far away friend from my computerland.
No, I never remember such a look on a President’s face! And, this is going to sound shallow, but I can’t stand the his mouth – the way he purses his lips. I have to look away. Yes, I know he can’t help it, but that, together with everything else about him that isn’t physical, but has to do with character, makes me crazy. I love that song – “For What It’s Worth” – Buffalo Springfield, right?
Have a great day, my friend.
I always notice how he uses his hand/fingers when he uses them for emphasis, pinching thumb and first finger. To me, it’s an odd sort of self-expression.
Yep, Buffalo Springfield; on our AM radios when doing homework. I don’t think I understood all the words/meaning, but the song was mesmerizing. Stephen Stills of course on vocals (and I think he wrote it, too), later taking his guitar to CSNY (or just CSN before Neil Young; just the trio of Stills, Graham Nash and David Crosby. I liked Stephen Stills’ voice and playing, too, when he was with Chris Hillman in Manassas; one of my first in a small collection of LPs once I could afford them as an older teen. Soundtrack of our lives, we boomers. Hard to think of these guys getting older like me; some are in their 70s now. I listen to all kinds of music and try to stay contemporary but how can any music stand up to what was so unique coming out of the 60s & 70s? What a time!
Paul McCartney will be 75 in a few days. I can’t even take that in!
Nothing can stand up to the 60s and 70s. I listen to an oldies station when I’m driving. Makes me very happy!
I do, too. It’s very odd and almost a bit prissy, for want of a better word.
so cute, I miss my chipsters from our previous house at the lake. we don’t have any here. The landscapers scared them off when they redid the front yard. I had seen one before it all started but after that they moved out. Happy Saturday, Claudia.
They are adorable, for sure. I usually have at least one hanging around and sometimes two (we have two this year.) Have a great weekend, Debra.
Such fun pix of a cute little guy. Do I know Chippie? Have you spoken of him before? Am I losing my brain? Is this a new member of your yard’s cast of characters? Have I just forgotten? SO cute!
Feel better. I’d love to give you some of my nearing-90s heat here in SoCalif. Rain would be welcome here…
We have chippies around here every year, Vicki. I call them all Chippie.
Yes, Don is feeling that heat today as well. He said it’s very hot there.
Our heat is supposed to be ‘significant’ from now, right up to July 1, and then it’s usually hot on Fourth of July. (It’s 70 degrees out there right now as we near the midnight hour.) It was very humid and hazy at the beach today; worst way to get a bad sunburn. But, of course, it IS summer. There are A LOT of people who seem to be on vacation; Americans are on the road, in earnest! Saw so many motorhomes and campers/trailers on the highway.
It ran across my mind about you at the Grand Canyon in July; I remember being there eons ago in June and it was hot, Claudia. I think it’s particularly hotter at the bottom of the canyon, like when people hike and raft on the river. The beauty is so worth all of it, though. I also enjoyed The Painted Desert; I think it’s sort of on one end or rim of the Grand Canyon National Park? There are these hills, I guess that’s what you’d call them (mesas, bluffs?), with an array of color which I guess has to do with their composition, so you see pink, lavender, peach; I was quite taken with it back in the day.
I have thought about how hot it might be at this time of year re: the Grand Canyon. I suspect we’ll chat about that and other options as we plot our trip home. I have my heart set on seeing it, but then again, if it’s miserable and we’re driving an old car, we might be better served to drive home on a ‘cooler’ route.
Those pictures are adorable. Feel better soon.
Marilyn
Thank you, Marilyn!
