City Bound

January 31, 2018 at 7:35 am by Claudia

Armed with sustenance for my husband, I’m heading into Manhattan this morning. Officially, I’ll be there for work, but I’m also happy that I can grab a bit of time with Don. And it will be a bit, as we are on different schedules. Tonight, when Don is home from rehearsal, I will be watching Anastasia  again and taking notes. Tomorrow, when I’m free during the day, he’ll be at rehearsal and I have to do a little coaching at the theater between 5 and 6:30.

But we will get to spend some time together tomorrow night, then I head home on Friday.

Only a few more days in the rehearsal studios for Escape and then, next week, they will move to the theater. Busy times!

Rick and Doug had to be gone all day yesterday, so I stopped by their house to walk Sam and play with him a bit. He’s so adorable. We walked through the woods and to the pond, with Sam grabbing a stick for the journey. (He loves walking with a stick in his mouth.) Lots of energy, lots of tail wagging and, when the stick broke in two, he managed to get both of the sticks in his mouth for the return journey. We played with one of his toys for a while when we got back in the house. And then he licked me all over my face.

What a sweetie.

I didn’t watch the speech last night. One thing I knew for certain: a traitor to our country would do nothing but lie. And, of course, that’s what happened.

#Resist.

Happy Wednesday.

I can only hope that we may have heard a speech from a future President of the United States. Mr. Kennedy was a breath of fresh air!

I’m glad you got some pup time. Everyone needs an all-over face lick from time to time. Couldn’t watch that load of @#*&! propaganda last night either. I’ll get the true story from a much more reliable source today, I trust. Happy City Fix!

Your time was better spent with Sam than the speech. My husband arrived home and immediately announced, “we’re not watching the speech.” No argument here. Rep. Kennedy was pretty good though.

The Manchurian Candidate, I could not listen either. He and Nunes have definitely been compromised by the Russian government. Any day now, I expect to see troops land in our ball field, just like Red Dawn. Why don’t we learn from our literature and movies?! On a better note, have fun in the city!

They, and several others I can think of, have been compromised. It will all come out eventually. Mueller knows far more than we can imagine.

That Sam – what a character! How hilarious he looks bopping around with his stick! Sounds like a fellow with a lot of personality – & lots of fun to be with. I think Jane Goodall is right. Animals DO have personalities & individual differences & even emotions. That much is so clear – the more you get to “know” an animal. Our toy fox terrier, Peanut, grew up with a lot of little kids & there came a point when my Dad would say “I don’t think Peanut realizes that he’s a dog. I think HE thinks he’s just a 4-legged kid…” He was more than likely right. Peanut always wanted to be with us, do what we were doing etc. And he didn’t get along all that well with other dogs either. He’d bark his head off at them all the time. In fact, one Christmas Day, a great Dane in the neighborhood got a little fed up with his yapping, picked him up in his mouth, shook him around a little, then dropped him. And we ended up headed to the vet with Peanut. To stitch up our 6-pound “tough guy” – on Christmas Day – cost my Dad $90! Which back in the 60s was like $900 for my Dad [who talked about it – occasionally – til his dying day]. LOL. Have fun in NYC with Don [I’m vicariously enjoying one of those cookies right now]. Yummo. Peace.

I know that all animals have feelings and emotions and souls. You have only to look into their eyes to know it.

I didn’t watch either. I did watch Cong. Joseph Kennedy and was heartened.
I was really disgusted when a political analyst from our local CBS affiliate referred to DT’s “exaggerations”. A lie is a lie is a lie!

I refused to watch. But my husband (working late) asked me to record the speech. He said he may or may not watch it on TV tonight. Now, though, I’m wondering what the reference here is to a Kennedy speaking, so I’m thinking I may watch for simply that reason.

I couldn’t stand Trump when he was on talk shows even years ago. I can’t look at him. I can’t listen to his voice. I’ll read about it later, but I just can’t have anything to do with him in real time. I’ve seen several presidents come and go now but I’ve never had a reaction to any of them, even Nixon, like this one. And I think it’s such a shame. It has nothing to do with love of my beloved country and my fellow American; it has to do with who was elected to serve in that office. So far, he’s serving me nothing but a load of crap.

Yes, I’m better informed about it now and we’re either watching tonight or I’ll probably be able to catch it on youtube. I was thinking a lot about it yesterday; how those kids of Bobby Kennedy’s were robbed of a father, one of them still in the womb. And of course he was killed out here in SoCalif so it was such a terrible event in my memory; I wasn’t very aware ‘politically’ (preteens) but the Kennedys had been ‘big’ in a greater awareness since I was a little kid and my parents pretty much hung on every word from Jack & Bobby. I still have all of Mom’s LIFE magazines which often had a big spread of the photos in The White House when John-John (I understand he hated that name in later years) and Caroline were not too far off from me in age; was intriguing to me. It always feels so hopeful when a Kennedy comes forward, serving as they do, but we can’t ever repeat what once was or put so much expectation on the younger ones coming up, yet it seems somehow exhilarating because we do need that inspiration you mention. I’m looking forward to knowing more. It seems to be what everybody is talking about, this Joe Kennedy III ‘response’. Feels exciting.

I didn’t watch or listen, as he makes me physically nauseous. Would be nice to have a Kennedy in the White House again. But I would settle for another Obama! How I miss that intelligent man and the equally intelligent former First Lady. Everyone needs a bit of animal companion time! Glad you had fun, and Sam sounds like quite a character! Enjoy your time with Don, Claudia.

I hope you had a safe trip into the city and a good day at work. The cookies look wonderful. And inspiring. My husband just noted today that it has been a while since we had anything baked. It seems like I just made 5 kinds of Christmas cookies!!

Didn’t watch the speech and have kept myself news-free today. I can’t bear it and my BP can’t take it. Having a full year of a fake presidency has just about done me in. Every morning I think “today HAS to be the day that he is put in handcuffs and walked out of our beloved White House”, and still, it doesn’t happen. It just seems to get worse and worse. And I get more and more depressed. Will he really make it through these full 4 years with 4 more a possibility? How do we get through that??

I am realizing that I am feeling constant stress from this. Indigestion, tears, exhaustion. We are all being subjected to an onslaught of immorality in the White House and Congress and on some level, we feel powerless. Don has advised me again and again to dial back my engagement on all of this, and I think I have to, for the sake of my state of mind and boy.

I still don’t believe that he will be in office for the full four years.

Immorality has been a guest at the White House for many years. Do you remember Bill Clinton and Jack Kennedy? As long as Trump does a good job for the Country who cares what he does in his free time! Hating the Man is not changing anything and yes we are powerless! Best to dial back die Angst and hope for the best, that’s what I do!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
