Coffee, Baseball, Charms & Oz

October 22, 2009 at 11:56 am by Claudia

My in-room coffee maker comes with Starbucks coffee. Yes! This is what I need. Most coffee supplied in hotel rooms is rather bland with not-quite-enough punch for me in the AM. The housekeeper cleaning my room this morning even gave me an extra pack for tomorrow morning. Her suggestion, not mine…perhaps I look slightly sleepy?

Had a good night’s sleep on this great mattress…I tried to stay awake through the end of the Phillies/Dodgers game, but in the end, I gave up. It was obvious the Phillies were going to win. I am in the midst of Philly-fan country here, so everyone is quite happy with the outcome. I must admit that I struggle a bit with this one. I lived in Philadelphia for 5 years and have fond, fond memories of that time. So my instinct is to cheer for the Phillies. However, since it looks more and more like the Yankees are going to win the AL, I had this fantasy of the Dodgers vs. the Yankees in the World Series, with Joe Torre back in Yankee Stadium (the new Yankee Stadium that is.)

Have you seen these?

They are pewter charms that are attached to your cell phone. I had no idea that these existed. My sister, being younger and therefore hipper, knew about them and bought each of us one at Rhinebeck. I let her take care of attaching it. It is a little lamb – I’ll give you a close-up.

I am now hip. And, since my husband and I have exactly the same cell phone, we will now be able to tell them apart.

Finally, for all you pink lovers – here is the pretty paper covering the toiler paper in my bathroom.

Do you think I could just slyly remove the paper and take it with me?

Last night’s performance of WOZ was delightful. Lots of kids in the audience, laughing at the Lion, oohing and aahing over Toto, and in the case of the little girl behind me, carrying her very own Glinda magic wand. Adorable. And to prove that WOZ affects people of all ages, the little girl’s Mom was sobbing during the scene where Dorothy says goodbye to the Scarecrow, Tin Man and Lion.

Cool… now I am hip too! If I knew all it took was a cell phone charm I would have done it long ago. I lost my button that said, “I knit so I don’t kill people.” Bummer.

Oh Claudie, I am going to see WOZ in November and then to dinner with friends. I am so looking forward to it. :) P.s. I can check where I found my Baby Boo’s to see if they still have them. I can send you some.

Maybe this will be a duplicate post . . . dunno where the first one went!

I had Wolfgang Puck coffee in my hotel room in San Jose. It was GOOD!

I have one of those, but mine’s boxer. Can’t put it on my Blackberry though :( nowhere to attach it that I can see. I had it on my Razor.

I have to have my Starbucks every morning. One big cup. I buy their beans and have them grind them. Usually mix it with some decaf I have. Funny, what rituals we lay claim to! I rarely even bother with my cell phone. So I’m just not hip. Hate hearing all those ringtones in public. I’ve officially become a fuddy-duddy.

Lovely suite you’re in, Claudia! Love your little pewter lamb charm! Your sister picks GOOD gifts!! I went to see the hi-def WOZ at the movies (was it last month, on the anniversary?) with a girlfriend. The theater was so packed that we had to sit in one of the first few rows – the ones where you have to crane your neck up to see the screen? But it was so worth it! I just love that movie! BTW, nice TP wrapper! … Donna

    Hello Claudia,

You’ve been busy! But it’s nice to see after the work you get to rest in a nice, comfortable room. And with starbucks coffee too! LOL

But i guess when the show came and seeing those kids and adults as well enjoy the show is a very rewarding feeling :-)

Have a safe trip back home.

    li

I always had starbucks coffee in the morning but after being in Europe I have found “illy” coffee. They have cafes all over Europe. After we got home, I found it at Williams Sonoma. It is excellent!!!

It sounds like a great show, you can’t go wrong with anything related to good old Oz. Thanks for showing the tp wrapper, it made me smile!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
