Another very cold morning with the heat kicking on. It’s only October 2nd!
We got our booster shots yesterday. As I did with the very first shot I back in March, I came home and, a few hours later, fell asleep in my chair for an hour. It was one of those drugged-like deep sleeps where you can’t wake up and feel groggy the rest of the day. I went to bed early last night and slept for almost 8 hours. That, and a very sore arm, seem to be my consistent side effects from the Pfizer vaccine. Don’s arm is very sore, as well. Actually, I think my arm is even sorer now than it was back in March.
But it’s done and we’re grateful. Since one of our favorite grocery stores is across the road from Walgreen’s, we did some shopping afterwards. Came home, had lunch, did a couple of loads of laundry and then…major nap.
I head back in to the city tomorrow. Same hotel for just one night this time, and then a run-through to watch and take notes. Then back home on Monday night. Then…barring having to go out to fix something when they’re on the road (which could happen – it has in the past) I’m probably done with Anastasia. I started working on the very first production in Hartford in 2016, so I’ve been a part of the Anastasia creative team for 5 years. It has been a joy from start to finish.
I’m taking it easy today as I still feel tired from the booster. I think some reading for pleasure is in order, maybe a quick vacuuming downstairs, a bit of straightening up in my section of the office…we’ll see.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.

happy for you and don to have the booster shots and time to recuperate. hopefully the soreness and sleepiness are soon gone (though naps are lovely and restorative and sometimes needed)!
glad you have the anastasia work and film work ahead, too!
hope don’s taping went well, brings whatever work he wants!
i am grateful for a weekend, but will spend much of it looking for a new job. it is very clear that i need to work elsewhere and soon. prayers for that to happen, that i get somewhere good (and healthier for me) are much appreciated.
on a happier note, it is cooler here, we had a teeny bit of rain, i am almost done with a crafty project that i could not for the longest time figure out and (best of all) i get to spend time with members of my family. :)
hope you all are safe, well and have a great weekend.

Safe travels back to the city tomorrow. Hopefully, without having to rush to go get another covid test.
Stay safe
Claudia says
No test needed this time!
Thanks Marilyn.
Stay safe.

So glad your reactions to the booster shot were minimal. Mom and I were both sick for a good day with body aches, fever ad fatigue. I’m better but Mom is still struggling. Still we are so glad we have the booster shots. Get some rest as the next few days sound busy!
Claudia says
Don had body aches and a flu-like feeling yesterday. That’s exactly what happened to him the first time, so we both experienced the same reactions as last time.
Stay safe, Linda.
Brendab says
When I got my first ones they told me tons of water. Move around. No resting Tylenol. Avoided soreness as did my friends when impasses it along or their people told the. I however have the.headaches and the fog of my brain. They have finally made it as a side effect. As my friend buried her so. Today I am still thankful for the vaccines. I hope we don’t need another one soon. Take care…rest…just ordered new Penny book and new one with Clinton for friend birthday…
Claudia says
I always drink lots of water, so that’s no problem. And we moved around quite a bit after the shot. But Don still had body aches and we both still had soreness in the arm. Personally, I don’t think those tips really change anything – we still had the same reactions as before!
Stay safe, Brenda.
Brendab says
My phone is problematic when typing…I apologize….It is so so so old

Thanks, Donna.

Claudia,
I’m glad that you were granted another period of time to work with people who appreciate your work and whose talents you honor, too. I hope the aftereffects of the booster and gone and you feel energetic for Monday’s session.
Claudia says
Feeling no aftereffects today, and Don, who had body aches just like last time, is feeling much better today, too.
Stay safe, Linda!
Vicki says
Glad you got that third shot, Claudia; am praying I can get mine soon if they can just hurry up the Moderna stuff. I have a new thing to worry about, with husband needing to fly out of state (and it’s one of the notorious low-vax states, just our luck), be in three airports, on public transport (commuter trains, bus) and in hotels, restaurants, gas stations for the rental car, public bathrooms; also, a care facility, days on end (til the end), for a critically-ill/terminal relative. Not only (no way!) can we afford all this travel expense, but I just wish he had the safety of that third shot, if only Moderna (FDA/CDC) could get their sh*t together to help the rest of us needing the boost who aren’t Pfizer vaxxers. I’ll be talking to my family doctor next week (am seeing her for something else anyway) for her opinion as to whether or not, when my husband returns, we should isolate from one another, to shield me from his somewhat ‘major’ exposure. I know you’re not doing that with Don; my ‘traveling’ sister-in-law doesn’t do it with her husband either (and he has probably as many co-morbidities for complications from the virus as I have [we of the ‘vulnerable’ population]). Obviously my husband will immediately go to a Covid testing site when he gets back. We have one near where we live.
But I’m in that mood again where I’ve begun to feel it’s too much over-reaction (that I’m a product of too much scary news coverage over the past 19 months) and that I’ve let too much fear get in the way of rational thinking when it comes to all-things virus. My husband is forgetful but he’ll try to be careful. He does have SOME amount of vaccine still in his body from when he got his last vaccination in earliest March. He will always be masked. He knows he needs to wash his hands; frequently. He purposely booked inconvenient flights at undesirable hours in order to be on planes that are less full of people; same for the public transit. It’s not going to be easy on him (he’s going to get tired; he’s an old[er] guy and he suffers from, among other things, extreme insomnia due to a physical health condition which makes for considerable fatigue/exhaustion); and he already has enough stress with the sick/dying relative. He has to eat out; but, so far, the weather where he’s going isn’t too formidable (yet; fingers crossed), so he is adamant he will not eat indoors at a restaurant (it’s a real stickler with him). It’s not like he’s going to a big stadium and watching a football game with a bunch of shouting people pouring aerosols out of their mouths. But ‘life’ has to go on; and, like most people, we have real-life stuff happening. That’s not going to change; it will always be ‘something’.
Best of luck with this week’s travels; glad you’re getting some rest. But the biggest part of my gladness is that you and Don got your Covid-vaccine boost. Yay!

I, for one, ENVY your cool autumn October mornings; sounds glorious! Of course out here on the Southern Calif west coast, we are hot-dry-drab-windy-ugly. Moderate Santa Anas the past couple of days but enough to whip my younger, smaller fruit trees more than they want to be whipped. I salvaged ONE rosebud from the heat, but it’s been high-90s here and I hate it. We Californians are shriveled from this awful weather/climate. My husband and I now have THREE humidifiers going full speed in the house, 24/7; there is NO moisture in the air otherwise. He was getting nosebleeds from the dryness, and my skin is so sensitive that I was breaking out in a type of dry hives (such that the dermatologist said we MUST humidify our indoor air [this is all just nuts; I don’t live in a desert, although I guess it’s becoming a desert; I’m very near, in fact, to the ocean, but California is just in a world of hurt from what I fear could be irreversible drought; has been published now that if we have a dry winter, we’ll all be on water restriction indefinitely {and when I lose the rest of my landscaping, we will have lost a considerable investment of trees and plants from only having planted them seven years ago in a total yard overhaul}]).
We can never have the quintessential, scenic ‘Fall’ that the rest of the ‘normal’ country has! I get a lot of contentment of looking thru my books to autumn scenes/pictorials from other parts of the country where autumn is a real season; luckily there’s a lot of that on the web, too. Beautiful Fall colors; a curl of friendly smoke from a chimney (our smoke here is always a warning due to wildfires, such that smoke is UNfriendly), colorful leaves in the trees; the idea of apple cider and hot chocolate. Brisk walks in the woods. Warm sweaters. (I’ve probably used a blanket on the bed ONCE in the past four or five months; we’re never cool enough to warrant anything but a bed sheet. I live 12 months of the year in thin cotton dresses with bare legs and sandals on my feet, with only very-VERY occasionally a cardigan over the sleeveless dress. We have a HUGE electricity bill from using central air conditioning for almost the entire year; and add to that table fans, standing room fans [and now we also have three indoor air cleaners because there is so much dust and smoke in the air at any given time; when you don’t have rain, dirt becomes dust; the outdoor world is layered in dust, and it makes for really-rough air quality; it sifts in every house crack and every time a door is opened].)
So, yes, post autumnal photos of your environment, Claudia. I can be an armchair traveler and dream of upstate NY/New England (I know you border New England and aren’t really part of New England, but it’s all Northeast-wonderful to me!). I love seeing the Fall pictures, like your fading hydrangea, so lovely. I appreciate that you make the special effort to give us a photo most every blog post. It’s just such a treat to read you every day.
Claudia says
Oh, it’s very dry here and I often get nosebleeds, especially with the heat on in the winter.
Thanks for your kind words, Vicki.
Stay safe.
Claudia says
If he wears a mask, there should be no problem. If there are periods when he doesn’t mask, well then, that might be a problem. Don is going to be spending time off and on in the city. We have to wear masks on the set and we’re tested 3 times a week for all six weeks. Don will be rigorous about wearing a mask, as well, so I think we’ll be fine.
Try not to worry too much, Vicki. But do what you feel you need to do! xo
Stay safe.

So glad you were both able to get your booster, even though it’s left you tired and sore. Worth it for sure! We can’t get the booster just yet. It’s currently only available here in our region in Canada for seniors and those with compromised systems. Hoping it will be open to all soon.
Love your hydrangea’s! Mine are a bit lighter but limelights are my favorite and I hope next Spring to fill the rest of my garden with them. I look each day to see if I should cut them off the stem and bring them inside but keeping waiting to give them more time.
Wishing you well as you journey back in to the City and hope all goes smoothly so you can be home soon!
X Chy
Claudia says
I love limelights!
Thanks so much, Chy.

Glad you got the booster. We are Moderna, so waiting for the OK on that. and I am not panicking over it so far. We had our flu shots last week.
Our Limelight is a beautiful shade of pinky/beige right now, BUT, we have many many brand new bright white tufts blooming!! I have never seen this in October!! It was another very warm and humid day today. Waiting for those Fall temps to arrive!! Take care!
Claudia says
We have to get our flu shots, but I think we’ll wait until right before I leave for the film job.
Stay safe, Chris!

Sorry for the sore arms but yay for boosters! I realize that musicians need to keep that in mind now re work schedules, as most of us were actually not working when receiving the original doses, so thank you for the info. Does anyone know anything about COVID testing post-vaccination? Just wondering if the vaccine would ‘show’ a positive test…not what we need at the moment! Stay safe everybody!
Claudia says
Yes, sore arms would make a difference for musicians!
I don’t know anything about post-vax testing. I’ll be tested again when I’m on the set but that’s not for another few weeks.
Stay safe, Naomi!
