I had to work in the city yesterday and I’m going in again today. Some days, I just don’t have the time to write a post and get out the door in time to catch the bus. That’s what happened yesterday. I know you understand.
Let’s just say that when I’m working on a show, I may not post every day.
But, I usually do.
I’m working on a production of A Man for All Seasons. Yesterday, I watched part of the blocking rehearsal just to get an idea of how the actors sound. Today, I’ll be coaching several of the actors in individual sessions and I expect to put in one more day this weekend doing the same thing.
As per usual, I’ve coached at least three of the actors in the past; in a couple of cases, about 20 years ago! They’re a talented group and it will be fun to work with them.
Yesterday was a snow/rain day with gray skies and it was cold. Fortunately, I can exit from Port Authority and only have to walk a block to reach the rehearsal studio. Unless we were actually rehearsing in Port Authority, I couldn’t do better.
Don and I have left gift ideas go until the last minute and now everything I’ve thought of to put on my list is either unavailable, no longer being made, or would have to travel a long distance! What to do? I’m entering panic mode. We don’t want to spend a lot this year as we’ve had our trip to Europe and that was present enough. But we do like to see a few presents under the tree.
We’ll figure it out.
Sorry to be brief, but I have to get going. Another day in the city today.
Happy Friday.

Enjoy today!!!
Being in NYC gift enough!!!
Have been many times-love it–last trip was February!
Love the NYC diner near our hotel but can’t remember name of hotel this time! Near the plays etc. sorry
Met a couple from Ireland seeing America for the first time!! I told them we are usually a gentle country who welcomes outsiders!!! Enough said lol
Claudia says
There are a lot of diners in NYC!
Thanks, Brenda!

glad the work is fun … and that, rain or shine (and especially in rain), the walk to/from the bus is short!
best wishes to you and don for finding gifts. maybe you’ll see something in nyc …?
thanks for the sock-knitting wish. i am at the toughest part – the heel. flap done, now have to “turn” it, knit two gussets and pick up stitches. on the first sock, i had to knit part of that three times (ugh) to get it right. will be at the yarn shop today for help to understand it again before knitting it. since i have the day off (opposite of ugh), i plan to finish the heel today. after that it’s much easier/faster and then done and relief! :)
happy weekend!

No time to shop when I’m in the city. Just the commute and work – and that takes up at least 8 hours of the day.
Thanks, Kathy!

Glad you are enjoying the work. I have most of my gifts but I start early so I can get the Grands what they want. I hope you and Don find some presents under your tree this year. Rainy and cold today. Coffee and a book on the docket for me.
Claudia says
Rainy here today with sleet tonight. I’m going to do some cleaning and reading today.

I have been thinking about you a lot while hearing the stories of all the unrest in France and England. I’m so glad your trip was a happy one and not disrupted by all this turmoil. Be safe in your travels and hopefully you can make inroads with some Christmas plans. I can share your panic 😊
Claudia says
I’m glad we managed to avoid all of that, as well. Just the Brexit march, which we found inspiring. It was peaceful.
Thanks, Janet!

Your blog is the first of the few that I look at every day. It doesn’t matter to me if it is a long or short post, it’s always just nice to hear from you.
Safe travels to and from NYC today.
Claudia says
Thank you so much, Cathy.

It’s nice that your commute is short once you get to NYC. Hope everything’s goes well.
Christmas is always a toughie when it comes to gifts. Your trip was a big gift to you both. I’m still struggling to find something for my hubby. The older we get…the more difficult it becomes it seems. And there’s always the fact that if we need something…we just go out and get it…so it’s hard to surprise a spouse.
This is our last weekend with our globe-trotting son. Just found out though…that he might be back in February….woohoo! ;)
Claudia says
The fact is, we really don’t need anything. Don needs film for his vintage camera – which is pricey. And he mentioned he needed jeans. Practical, but at least something he wants!

You have an interesting life and I enjoy your posts. Your house is lovely and you photograph your items very well.
Claudia says
Thank you so much, Mary.

I love the saying “blogging without obligation.” You shouldn’t feel guilty if your blog is not daily.
When I have trouble buying gifts, here’s what I do. I pick a store that I really like or else the person I’m buying for really likes. I go in and am determined not to leave until I find a suitable gift and buy it. Done! Finished! Completed! I feel good and the recipient always likes what I found and I haven’t driven myself crazy using up precious time in a stressful way.
Good luck with your job and your gift buying.
Claudia says
Not a bad idea, Brenda! Thanks!
Tina-Marie Hamilton says
Hmmm, didn’t I see a little house on Instagram…a gift idea!
Claudia says
No, it’s already been sold. And it’s pretty pricey! (Though of course I would have loved it even though we have no space for it!)

Dear Claudia,
With all you have going on, all the time,I am just tickled, when I get to read one of your post’s
You never need to beat your self up. You have given me so much, and I’ve seen lots of your readers say the same thing.
I have been waiting for today (Payday) to do any shopping. Do you hear me worrying about it?
NO!. . .. ….. because your way too far away! Or you would have heard plenty!
Again Thank-You
Judy A
Claudia says
Good luck with your shopping, Judy! I used to have to wait until the very last minute to buy gifts – not that long ago. We would be waiting on a residual payment or a check for work Don or I had done, hoping and praying that it would arrive in time for Christmas!
Wendy T says
Claudia, glad your commute after getting off the bus isn’t too bad.
I don’t like buying gifts because I don’t like shopping in general (unless it’s in a fabric or yarn or needle raft store). And then I don’t like wrapping. And then I don’t like trudging to the Post Office to send the money out. BAH HUMBUG! But, I do love the giving part, so I put up with the first parts…
I’m mostly done with this year’s crop of gifts. My Mom’s gift will take a bit longer…my daughter and I are sewing cafe-style curtains for three of her rooms (6 windows). She has had cafe-style curtains for the three homes she’s lived in. They’re her favorite style.
Claudia says
I don’t like shopping in general – especially at malls! And I hate wrapping!!
A lovely gift for your mom, Wendy.

You know, I have noticed this year that the store shelves everywhere appear to be picked over and quite empty. Not sure if that means people are buying more and buying earlier ~ or if stores are trying to manage their inventory better to avoid going down to the 90% off mark within a week of Christmas Day. So many places are already 50 to 70% off on so many things ~ if any even remain!
My daughter has today off and we are mixing cookie dough today. Tomorrow we will bake it all, and it will be done! I think I have only baked one batch of cookies since our last baking day a year ago, so I am looking forward to it (probably way too much!!) Hope your day went well!!
Claudia says
I haven’t baked cookies in a long while, but I will make a batch or two for Christmas. I hope you and your daughter had a great day together.
Nancy Blue Moon says
I would love to see NYC at Christmas time…I can just imagine all of the decorations and lights!…Have a great day!
Claudia says
It’s beautiful, but I don’t see any of that near Port Authority or the area where I work.
