Cows, a Fawn & McCoy

June 13, 2011 at 9:34 am by Claudia

As promised: Cows on a hill. Photo taken while driving and getting angry at my camera because it kept shutting off right when I wanted to take a picture.

Spotted on the grounds of the theater:

Do you see the fawn? She stared at us for the longest time.

So sweet. I saw a fawn running around frantically on the golf course the other morning. By the time I got my camera she was gone. I assume she found her mama.

As a certified obsessive collector of McCoy Pottery, imagine my surprise when I found this box in the condo. A condo, by the way, that had no other boxes anywhere.

This is on top of the cupboards in the little laundry room. Pine Cone is a McCoy Pattern. Immediately, all sorts of thoughts went through my head. I wonder if the owners have any idea this is here? Maybe I can leave a note asking if they’re selling them. Or maybe they want to give the McCoy away? I wonder how many pieces there are?

Full of excitement, I dragged a chair in there and pulled it down. What was inside?

Cans of turpentine and paint thinner.

Drat.

It seems to be an especially cruel taunt, doesn’t it?

    Claudia,
Bummer about the McCoy. I love it. I also like Hull. I will start the hunt at some of my favorite haunts next week.

    Counting the days?

    Carol.

I love seeing cows in a pasture. It is such a peaceful scene. My father-in-law used to have cows that he kept in the fields that surround our two houses. A few years ago, he sold them, though. But, we can see our neighbor’s cows in a field that borders our property. I love sitting on our deck and watching them. Cows are great big and scary up close, though.
We also have deer on occasion. We used to see them daily, but the past couple of years they don’t come so frequently. Sad…….
Oh how disappointing it must have been when you looked in the box!

What a sweet little fawn! We see them all over at this time of year. Last year I saved one that had fallen halfway down the creek enbankment and had it’s leg stuck in a tree root… Poor little thing sounded just like a baby crying. (yes, we live in the middle of the suburbs, but we have wildlife all over the place.)

Drat, but a relief that there was no ‘good stuff’ in the box – would have made too many decisions happen. Getting closer to going home time. I bet your garden is bursting out all over.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
