Creature Love

October 6, 2017 at 9:24 am by Claudia

I’m feeling more energetic this morning and for that I’m grateful. It’s a beautiful autumn day and  the sun is shining and I just found out we don’t owe anything on our taxes and that we are getting a modest refund and my morning FaceTime with my husband was great and my Peet’s is making me happy and it’s all good.

How’s that for a run-on sentence?

Lately, I’ve seen Henry chomping down on the grass right by the Funky Patio, which is pretty close to the house. Brave for that timid boy!  I saw him yesterday and because the windows were closed, he couldn’t hear the click of my camera and run away as he usually does.

There he is, that sweet boy.

Then, to make it even more perfect (can you have degrees of perfect?) my lonesome dove landed on the birdbath.

And then, in the ultra degree of perfect, the monarch butterfly that I saw the day of my dental work (I took that as a good sign) appeared over in the chicken wire fence garden.

For a brief moment, all three creatures were within a few feet of each other. Then Henry heard something and ran back to his lair. But for that moment, my Creature Love boxes were all ticked.

Happy Claudia.

It’s such a lovely day today, that I might take a little drive northwards. We’ll see. Or I might go to our local antique barn. Hmmm. What to do?

Happy Friday.

Henry is so adorable! I do wish I lived further out from the city. I enjoy watching the animals come and go.
Glad to hear you are feeling better.
Have a lovely day, no matter which you choose to do!

hurray for henry, the lonesome dove and butterfly – and for you to see them any time, but especially all at once … the power of nature!

hope you have a nice day; either choice sounds good.

Just enjoy the day. It’s pretty here but with rain in the forecast I think I’ll get out and just explore a bit on this fall day. I love how you have your critters visiting you. I’ve not seen the deer lately but I see where they are munching on some plants.

I haven’t seen deer on our property but I know they’re there. They are much more evident in the winter – no tree/leaf cover

It is so nice when the stars align…things fall into place…and good moods are the result! A drive sounds refreshing…safe travels so matter where you decide to go! Just enjoy! ;)

Isn’t it amazing how nature can make you feel all is right with your world? I’ve spent more time in the back garden/patio this year, calming myself down. Recently accompanied my husband to DC, where we used to live. While he saw to business for 3 days, I amused myself and was the most excited at photographing the butterflies in the flower gardens around the Mall. Thank goodness for my birds and my butterflies!

Enjoy the good weather while you’ve got it. When I checked Albany’s weather this morning, it showed rain.

No rain here. I think the rain stayed north of us. There may be some on Sunday.

When everything in a day lines up in perfect order like yours has I call it Blue Bird kind of day. If I were you I would drive north a bit , and THEN go to the antique barn. Perfect way to end your day.

I was driving along the back roads to my daughter’s college campus and a young buck came out of the woods, standing beside the road. I think he was in his first year of having antlers, as he was fairly small, but the antlers were magnificent. I slowed down to pass him and got a good look at his gorgeous face. That made my day, as I don’t see deer in my neighborhood. I hope you are doing something fun and will tell us tomorrow! I’ve finally gotten to sorting and reorganizing my tools and hardware. So boring, but I have hardware I don’t think I’ll ever need (roofing nails…no sir-ree, I’m not getting up there) and don’t know why/how I have them so donations abound. Certainly not as fun as a trip to the local antique barn!

Isn’t it wonderful how nature can bring out the best in us?…I am sitting outside right now waiting for my little squirrel friend to come eat seeds from a tree at the edge of the woods…the seed pods that twirl and dance in the air when they fall from the tree….sometimes he lets me watch if I’m quiet and sit still…other times he chatters and tells me to go away lol…When I walked out of the house today I was greeted by a fuzzy little wooly worm…so cute..I can’t resist them and inch worms…My ex boyfriend said am the only person he has ever known that can have an entire conversation with a wooly worm…to which I said and just maybe there should be more people like me who treat even the smallest creatures with respect!…I hope you are having a lovely day Claudia….enjoy the nature around you!

Good for you, to carve out a nice day; healthy for you! And what a photo with chunky Henry (he’s so…solid; he fascinates me) and Dove, both in one frame. I’ve only seen monarchs once this year but it was recent, a pair of them, and I felt ‘visited’; was so special to see them. It’s blowing a gale today here; Santa Anas are back; we’re supposed to be 100 degrees again here in SoCalif tomorrow. I’m off to go pay the monthly fee on my storage unit, six days late…but, well, that’s how the week has gone. Not looking forward to being out in that heat, nearing 90, AND the gusts although I don’t mind the lower humidity; it’s just that this now puts us on wildfire watch although it’s very typical weather for us at this time of year. But, oh, how we could use some RAIN!!

I love, love, love Henry. If only he’d let me cuddle him!

I well remember Santa Anas. They were hard on my allergies and made me very uncomfortable.

So many wonderful creatures. As I was listening to the birds this morning I was thinking how much I miss their songs in the dead of winter. I have vowed to open my windows as much as possible this month. xo Laura

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
