This is the tabletop easel I purchased. In my research, most of the tabletop easels looked a tad flimsy. I wanted something solid that would not move (as did my previous easel) when I painted. It’s made of oak and it’s made in America (so rare nowadays) and it will grow with me when I graduate to larger canvases. As you know, right now I’m staying with smaller sized paintings as I explore this new passion. Eventually, fingers crossed, I’ll be brave enough to tackle something larger. By the way, the easel had nothing but great reviews.
Kitchen photo is as is: real life, with coffee cups and a bag of popcorn on the counter. If memory serves, I think Don had just returned from the store.
It’s a hot one this weekend and we’re limiting our outdoor time. Plus, I had an allergy attack last night. with watery, itchy eyes, along with a sneezing fit. This has been one of the worst years for my allergies. I’m so, so over it.
Don is currently mowing the paths up in the woods. Truth be told, he’s been neglecting them a bit because he’s so into his music right now. But he’ll catch up. We also cleaned up the growth in front of the trailer bird house in case our friends want to rent it out again.
I’m working on this right now:
I need to fix one or both of the handles. I know they’re off, but I have to look at the vase to see which one is more accurate. That’s on the docket for today. The blue will eventually be darker to match the color on the vase. I have a lot more detail to add, as well. This pattern is Snowberry.
Don wants to frame each of the paintings in the Roseville series. He has some ideas as to where we should hang them. I have to say that it’s wonderful to have his support and enthusiasm.
Father’s Day. As with Mother’s Day, it can be both positive and negative. For those who have lost their fathers or had complex issues with a father or didn’t have a father growing up, I wish you peace. We honor our fathers on this day but allow for complex emotions as well.
I miss you Dad.
Stay safe.
Happy Sunday.

The shape of that vase reminds me of Mae West saying, “come up and see me some time”! So curvy with her hands on her hips! Pretty color blue!

That is so funny….I thought the very same thing!!!! Beautiful curves to the vase.

Claudia I suffered horribly with hay fever when I was a kid. One thing that helped with itchy eyes were cold, used tea bags on eyes while laying down fir a bit. They were Lipton cause that’s what we drank then. But the tannic acid in the tea helped soothe. In the morning my eyes would be glued shut and I would have to bathe them with a warm water solution with boric acid. That way I loosened the crust and kept my eyelashes. I don’t know if either of these home remedies would still offer comfort, but if they work for you, it’s a help.
I am now also using OTC Alaway eye drops and they give me relief.
Hope you get some relief soon.
Claudia says
Ah, thanks so much, Becky! I now remember about the tea bags. I’ll do that.
Stay safe!

Nice easel! It helps to have good tools rather than trying to make do.
We are feeling kind of house bound because of the gypsy moths. There is caterpillar poop on everything. We can’t sit outside. I haven’t seen it like this since the mid-90s.
Granddaughter update: not much change. Still has a fever, still has a headache although she seems to have short periods when it seems to improve, usually after a nap. She isn’t sleeping as much and it has only been 6 days since this started although it seems much longer. Tomorrow my daughter is calling her Dr and getting her seen again.
Prayers are appreciated if you are so inclined.
Stay safe

I am sure that these past 6 days feel like years Marilyn. So hard to watch those we love suffer. Praying the Dr. has an answer for your family tomorrow. Prayers continue to be offered up.

What a beautiful shapely vase! So pretty, Claudia.
We had Father’s Day w the kids yesterday. Very pretty day outside and it was such fun. The grand girl was so good all day long! She loved her little pool, and new sand box. The girls made a lovely salmon dinner, so we didn’t have kitchen duty. Watching a 14 month old in the pool, and running all about meant that we were both exhausted last night. A day of rest today. It is cloudy and we have had a few raindrops this afternoon.
I hope your allergies are better soon. I understand that it has been a month of allergy woes for many. Enjoy your day and take care.
Claudia says
Sounds like the perfect family day, Chris.
Allergies have been dreadful!
Stay safe!

that new easel looks great … sturdy, portable, adjustable and made in america! :) i hope you enjoy many, many years of painting with it and can let go of the “this did not turn out the way i wanted it to look” moments that painting can bring. :)
glad you and don are both into creative things … they add so many good things to life! thanks to you both for sharing some of those talents (like today’s beautiful painting) here … very inspiring and enjoyable to me!
also want to say that i love how you and don support each other … like you with don’s music and him wanting to frame your paintings. :)
we had some rain! :) too bad i slept through it, but am still glad we got it. tomorrow is to be cooler and i am grateful for that.
had another nice day with members of my family, but missing those who are elsewhere. life is hard … … sending hugs to anyone who needs and wants one. and i pray for you all.
hope you have a good night.

Your easel is a stunner. I’m glad you bought a good one. You don’t want anything flimsy, especially when you decide to graduate to larger sizes or heavier canvases. And wise to start small to build your technique. I think you’re in this to win it and will continue painting indefinitely but some get the stuff and spend a lot for it and then the fancy of it fades and they discover it’s not really a passion but a diversion that didn’t work. (Ask me about the bicycle in my garage.) Then go for the good stuff. I’ve always believed it takes just as long to paint (or knit or create) with bad materials as good ones and if you are going to put the time and energy into it, then use the good stuff. You’ll have hits and misses (the nice thing about oil is you can paint over it if you really hate it!). But you will have done it right.
Claudia says
Your advice and support are greatly appreciated!
Stay safe, Jeanie!
