A quick one today as my car wouldn’t start. The battery was dead. Somehow, the dome light got left on the other day, probably as Don was unloading the stuff to recycle at the dump. Anyway, we had it jumped and the guy who came here was so friendly, cheery, and helpful that we immediately felt better. And he was wearing a mask.
As I got a new battery less than three years ago, it should be okay. We’re going to drive around for a bit, on the advice of a local discount tire center that replaced my last battery, and then stop in and ask them to test the charge on the battery. Hopefully, it will be fine. If not, we’ll have it replaced.
Oy.
Don’s car is still not starting consistently and it has to do with the auto-lock device on the car. It makes us crazy. We found out my car wasn’t working this morning because Don was going to take it to the local supermarket at 7 am. After my car wouldn’t start, he started his and we drove to the store. I stayed in the car so he didn’t have to turn it off. We just kept it running.
So we need my car!
That’s one of the paths that Don has opened up in the woods. He’s doing a great job.
Okay, friends. See you tomorrow.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

wow! WOW! that path, those woods … beautiful! incredible and hard work, don! and, claudia, that photo is helping to tell a story, belongs on the cover of a nature/walking magazine. well done, both of you!
best wishes (prayers) for both of your cars and for safety, on the road and off.
usual here (listed in obviously-ascending order of importance to me): work today, grocery shopping tomorrow morning, then time to visit (from a very safe distance) members of my family. :)
hopefully we will get some rain, too. if so, i will do nothing but sit and enjoy it.
hope you have a nice day today and an easy, fun weekend! stay safe!

Claudia says
There are more photos that I will share with you. Eventually, he’s going to do this to every path in the woods.
Stay safe, Kathy.
Betsy says
Such an inviting path!
Yay for mask wearing mechanics!
Have a great weekend.
Betsy
Claudia says
And the other mechanics that we had to see to check the viability of the battery were also masked. Bravo!
Stay safe, Betsy.

“The Road Not Taken”-Frost…loved teaching that poem. I took the road not taken in my forties when I went back to college to become an educator. I love this photo. Good luck with cars…can be so stressful…have good day. BrendaB
Claudia says
All is well. The battery is still good, we had it checked. And I got new windshield wipers, too!
But we’re pooped now. All of this went on very early in the morning. Stay safe, Brenda.
Regula says
Good luck with the car(s). What a wonderful path to walk. Have a nice weekend!
Claudia says
Thank you, Regula! Stay safe!
Donnamae says
That path! I love how you’ve used naturally fallen trees as edging. And, it’s a great example of using what’s available to create beauty. Course, Mother Nature doesn’t really need any help, but you’ve enhanced the ‘forest’ experience.
Unfortunately, cars have become a necessity. Glad you got yours started. Enjoy the rest of your day. We have afternoon storms coming in…just when all the plants are looking good, too. Fingers crossed…no tornadoes for anyone! ;)
Claudia says
We really need the rain here. It’s stunning how many lawns have turned brown around here. I think we might get some tomorrow.
Stay safe, Donna!
Nancy P says
The Path to Paradise. What a wonderful job Don has done creating that path
on your beautiful property. You both have worked very hard and Mother Nature has blessed you with such a peaceful oasis during this very difficult time.
Claudia says
Thank goodness for it, Nancy. I always appreciate what we have here but never more than now. Stay safe!
Chris K in Wisconsin says
I can’t wait til my granddaughter is old enough to enjoy the “where do you think that path would lead us to” story idea. My kids loved to do that. That picture would be PERFECT to start that conversation and engage imaginations!! Tell Don it is beautiful!!
My angst keeps growing with the further development of no one taking charge of this Pandemic. What a mess. His wishing it away theory just doesn’t seem to be working, does it?? Appears that when you stupidly ignore it, it joyfully comes back stronger than ever. I just don’t see an end in sight that is a good one. I remember lots of young women back in my day who would wish they weren’t pregnant and just ignore it. That never worked out well, either. Some things just can’t be wished away by clicking one’s heels 3 times. It is what happens when we ignore science.
Claudia says
I’ll tell him, Chris.
We have no leader. We are rudderless during this pandemic and I just heard the lies coming out of Pence’s mouth, declaring that things are getting better – trying to gaslight us.
Stay safe, Chris.
Chris K in Wisconsin says
My husband and I looked at each other and wondered how such a “pray every minute of your life and all will be well” person like Pence could stand up there and lie ~ regarding every single thing he said. The message I got from Pence was if we all pray enough, it will go away. And the other one is wishing it away. What a pair………… of idiots. (And listen to what your local govt is telling you to do and follow their directions…. well, unless it is us, then we do what we want to do, because, remember…. 1st Amendment.)
Claudia says
He is yet another ‘Christian’ who does not lead the life of a Christian. Just signing on with Trump made that clear.
I am more and more stunned daily. xo
Lorinda says
Wow! I love that path and I’m going to show it to Ed…..hopefully that will give him an idea of what to do in our woods. When we had cattle, they kept a pathway opened in the woods but now it is so grown up we can’t get through it. We haven’t been in the back of our property for several years. Anyway, Don has done a wonderful job….it looks so inviting.
I’m glad you got your cars going and I hope you have an enjoyable rest of your day. Ed (my husband) is trying to finish working the last of our vegetable gardens before the storms come in later today. I am staying inside for the next several days until the Saharan dust passes. I have had enough asthma and allergy trouble as it is! With the over abundance of zucchini this year, I am making gluten free (I am allergic to wheat)zucchini bread to put in the freezer. There is always enough things around here to keep me busy, inside and out! Take care and stay safe.
Claudia says
That zucchini bread sounds good, Lorinda! We have storms headed here tomorrow, but we desperately need the rain, so I’m okay with it.
Stay safe!

Dear Folks, How maddening it is when our cars won’t start for what ever reason. I have gone through periods of time when my car wouldn’t start to the point that my road service has notified me that I will have to start paying because I had used my allotted number of visits for my annual membership. I found a remedy. It is a called Halo Bolt (www.BESTHALO.com) and it has been a stress reliever because I now can start my car by myself and not be late for appointments or just irritated for the inconvenience . Maybe you can look into it. It sure has helped me. I have learned that the road service (AAA) is now using that type of product when they go out on “battery calls”. It is small and I keep it is the car. It is great knowing that if I have a battery problem I can start the car quickly. This is not an ad but just a suggestion for something that may make life a lot easier. I enjoy your blog daily and both of you are such an inspiration. Your garden is fabulous!
Claudia says
Thanks, Mary. I had something similar a while back, but I don’t have it now. Stay safe!
Martha says
Love the Path and where it leads!
Claudia says
Thank you, Martha! Stay safe.
Jayne says
That path is beautiful! It’s calming simply to look at it. Walking on it must be fantastic. Well done, Don!
Claudia says
He is doing a great job, Jayne. Stay safe!

Car problems are one of the worst. I wish you well with all the fixes and hopefully a minimum of cost.
I’m in internet hell right now. I had internet installed at the cottage (this is my neighbor’s signal) and they gave me the pw and left. And the pw won’t let me log in. Going a little crazy waiting for the support people to chat. I should have hit the bathroom before! I tried the calling but I have a pay as you go phone with limited minutes and they were running out fast. So, trying the online. Wish me well!
Good luck with both vehicles!
Claudia says
I hope, by this time, you’ve made contact with them and everything is working, Jeanie! Stay safe.
Jane Krovetz, NC says
Wow, that path is beautiful! I’m glad you took a picture of it! It would be so nice to have enough land to do something like that!
Claudia says
We don’t have a lot of land, but we do have just under two acres and part of it is woods. We love that.
Stay safe, Jane!

Yes and the evangelical community voted for trump and pence
I don’t get it
We all will be judged one day and they will too
Claudia says
They are hypocrites.
Stay safe, Linda!
Vicki says
The path in the woods is nothing short of breathtaking … and welcoming. I want to walk it!
Sorry about the car issues; we’re having them regularly because our old cars aren’t getting driven. Our ‘youngest’ (of the ones we drive) is age 21 years old. Amazingly, my old vintage car which is now age 48 (I’ve had it since I was a teen; it’s the one we do NOT drive, as a rule) wasn’t driven for five months and, go figure, when my husband un-tarped it a couple of weeks ago, it started right up. My husband has had to now deal with two dead batteries in the past two weeks. I think we’re going to have to do as you said, and drive around a bit; it’s just that I have no desire to do so, for as much as lockdown is getting ‘old’. But I also understand it could do me a world of good, and it’ll help the cars.
Let’s get back to that path. What a sight for sore eyes. Beautiful and so green!
Claudia says
Thank you so much, Vicki. Stay safe!
Kelly says
Claudia, That path is begging to be trod! I think my husband is in kahoots with yours! The paths through our woods are amazing! The cross-country running team from the nearby high school use them and have scared me a couple times because I would think I was alone then here come a couple students running toward me, just a tad un-nerving. They have done this for many years but never asked permission or said “thanks”. They have even spray painted tree roots that are barely visible but would be slippery if wet. I am grateful they are being safe.
Take care,
Kelly
Claudia says
We love our little woods, Kelly. And Don has discovered a love of making paths. He is crazy about it!
Stay safe!
Roxie says
I’d take that path with glee, wondering where it would lead and what I would see on my peregrinations. Tell Don “good job”!
From high 90s here to 90s with high winds and low humidity–high fire danger. Hopefully we will have no thunderstorms to start brush fires. Fingers crossed!
Stay healthy and safe, everyone.
Claudia says
I will!
I’m hoping you don’t have thunderstorms, Roxie. Stay safe!
Kay says
What a wonderful escape Don created for you both in the woods. Bet it was a lot of work but I know you’ll enjoy it in the years go come.
Car problems are so stressful. Good luck with getting yours straightened out quickly and satisfactorily.
Take care,
Kay
Claudia says
All is well, Kay. The battery charged and it’s still good, so we didn’t have to pay for a new one. Don’s car continues to have issues (it’s 20 years old) but we’re hoping we can get to the bottom of it. Stay safe!
Shanna says
The path is beautiful! (Car troubles be damned.)
Claudia says
Thank you, Shanna! Stay safe.
