Day One Hundred Twenty-Five

July 16, 2020 at 10:19 am by Claudia

The meadow just beyond our woods.

This will be short. Don has been sick for a couple of days with fever and chills. (None of the symptoms of COVID.) We’re trying to figure out if it’s Lyme Disease again. This is exactly how he felt when he first contracted Lyme several years ago. He has a video appointment with his doctor later today. He’s pretty wiped out.

I mowed the front lawn yesterday morning but mostly I’ve been taking care of him. I slept downstairs last night. Side note: Though I love him, I wanted to scream very early this morning when he came downstairs to get a pill (didn’t hear him) and then wandered in and out of the bathroom for no reason whereupon the squeaky door screeched twice and woke me up from a deep sleep. I never got back to sleep. I’ll cut him a break, though, as he is having a tough time right now.

We soldier on.

Poor guy. He feels miserable. I’m currently washing the sheets so he can get back in a freshly laundered bed.

That’s about it.

Please, no worry thoughts about COVID. We’re pretty certain it isn’t that and I don’t really need a discussion about it today. I know you understand. Thank you!

Stay safe.

Happy Thursday.

Oh no! That sounds painful for Don. Hoping the appointment goes well and he will feel well soon. Take good care of yourself too Claudia!

It’s hard now to be under the weather as everyone will think it’s “the other we shall not name it illness.” I had Strep in April and everyone freaked out …. thankfully my test came back negative for “the other we shall not name it illness.” Big relief but I also knew it was just Strep!

    Thinking of you both today.

    X Chy

I hope Don feels better and the video med appt goes well. Lyme’s is awful, too, but I know you both know that. Hopefully there will be a medication that will help him feel more comfortable.

We have had our windows open for a couple of days now and this morning I was drinking my coffee and it went down wrong and I started to cough. It was just as a lady was walking by with her dog. I saw her look towards the house and I wanted to run to say, “I’m merely choking, REALLY”!!

Hope you have a better day and Don gets some relief as well!!

You’re probably right about the ticks . . . with all those jaunts into the woods for rocks. Hope he feels better and take care of yourself, too. Best wishes from your friend you’ve never met.

Don, get well soon. You will be in my daily prayers. Claudia, I know that you will take excellent care of your hubby. Your love for him shines through every post that you write about him. You are so lucky to have each other.

Oh, I’m so sorry you guys and especially Don are going thru a sick time like this; I don’t know anything about the disease except that it can be really rough. I have a distant relative who, while on a hike (on vacation; she lives in Michigan), picked up a tick in northern NY many years ago and she still suffers; I guess it can affect people in various ways. Hopefully because he’s been thru it before and successfully beat it, the symptoms will fade soonest; extra prayers tonight for him. You’re so woodsy there, and he’s done all that hard work with the rocks. Not fair! I feel badly this has happened on top of all the other stress (just read an article on Insider about everyone’s anxiety levels being higher than normal; duh [‘fight or flight’ response “in hyperdrive”; anxietous energy “caught up inside of us causing us to feel irritable, on edge, hypervigilant and stressed out”, per a therapist]).

Feel better soon Don. Claudia, I can never get back to sleep if woken up no matter what time of night it is. Husband gets up to use the facilities frequently at night and I am constantly woken up by a tapping click sound. Drove me bananas. Finally realized he was drying his hands on the towel hanging from the over the door hanger and it was slightly tapping on the back of the door. Stuck a felt floor glide on and eureka. Maybe some WD40 will be a quick fix for you. Here’s hoping!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
