The Day that Got Away

January 8, 2012 at 4:26 pm by Claudia

Well, I meant to have a post up by now, but I’ve somehow lost control of the day.

Started painting this morning; haven’t cleaned, swiffered or taken a shower. Or eaten any lunch. In the middle of it all, Brenda called with a blog problem and we spent a big chunk of time on the phone talking about it. Now, it’s 3:30 and I need to clean up a bit.

The desk is painted. Now I have to figure out what I’m going to do. Maybe a little ‘aging’ and some beeswax and then I have an idea for the shelves.

I had planned to attack the clutter in this house today (especially since Brenda and I are tackling “Clutter in a Small House” this Tuesday)….but that will have to wait until tomorrow.

How’s your Sunday going?

I know what you mean. Days do run away from us sometimes. We are packing up Christmas today. I am looking forward to seeing the end result for this find. ~Kelly

l LOVE your new blog design, Claudia. I wish I could figure out how to improve mine…I just don’t “get” how to do it! :)

Your furniture project is really neat….I know how ever you finish it, it will look mighty fine.

It’s a coolish day in KC today….mid 40s…..we’ve had awesome temps in the 60s and 50s for several days. I want to get outside and run/walk, but first….I have to take a nap and regain some energy!

    Happy Sunday!

Don’t worry, the clutter will wait patiently. I know mine does.

Well, try to gather what’s left of the day (that I haven’t made use of and that I took from you too!) and get a shower, feed the dogs, make the bed, and then lie down on it and relax.

My day has been wonderful. I blogged a little, designed a whole lot, took a walk with Hubby and the pups, thawed out some Italian red sauce to go with spaghetti, and shrimp tonite. Love days like today! The white paint looks great on your desk/shelves. Looking forward to seeing the end results!

I’m anxiously awaiting the end results for this little desk. That one shelf is very interesting! I too am putting away the last of the holidays! Boy, taking down my faux tree is a job. Now the house looks empty. Actually having a lazy day is quite enjoyable!

The desk is pretty with fresh paint on it. I’m in awe of you ladies who can just get it done. I find it daunting. It’s an interesting little piece. I hope you get to use the handy wire holes.

    The desk looks good!
Glad you decided to keep it and put it to use!
I painted four roadside rescue chairs this weekend and now I have the bug for more projects that I keep putting off!

I spent the day De-Christmasing and so it was a busy/hectic day…but I feel satisfied with what I got accomplished.

Sounds like you got a lot done, too.

I had an Auntie that gave me this advice when I was just a kid. When you get up in the morning, brush your teeth, slap on some lipstick, comb your hair, get dressed and make your bed and no matter what happens during the rest of the day you will feel good about yourself. I have followed this since I was in my 20’s~ xo Diana

I have been sewing buttons on pillow shams. We had a very good late lunch and are trying to rest after traveling since Thursday. The desk is going to be wonderful for you.

This is going to be fabulous. Today, we finally got out to see a movie…first in a long time. Enjoyed War House. But, now it’s time to get ready for Downton Abbey on PBS.

Lazy day here. Sophie is feeling better so we got to sleep. I shopped and organized yesterday, so today we just hung out. I can’t wait to see how your desk turns out!

You’re talking the story of my life lately. I’m always amazed at what I don’t get done. And when I left the job I thought I’d get so much done!. Oh well!

Can’t wait to see the finished desk. Be sure and tell how you “age” it and apply the beeswax!

Some days are just like that, however you were quite productive compared to me, I was resting my back a bit after all the gardening on Sat. Then I made the dreaded trip to Wal-Mart, specifically for birdseed. Speaking of which, it’s now costs more than the food we eat, whatever happened?????? My sweet birds may have to be rationed at those prices – almost $40 for two large bags of mixed seed!

Looking forward to Tuesday’s post – I definitely require assistance with organizing around this small house!

    Hugs – Mary

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
