Day Three Hundred Eighty-Eight

April 5, 2021 at 10:43 am by Claudia

Hello, from some of the sheep.

I hope you had a Happy Easter, if you celebrate that holiday. Ours was low key, as expected, and we were perfectly fine with that. We had a nice day and did some preliminary work outside – it felt so good to be out there! Though I sure got tired quickly. I’m not used to fresh air and physical activity, I guess. It’s sunny again today and it looks like the temperatures will be in the sixties for the next two weeks. Huzzah!

There’s much to be done outside, but we’re taking it slow – after all, why hurry?

I also watched the latest episode of Gardeners’ World  and an interview with a miniaturist who lives in England. Then, a nice dinner and a new series (in French with subtitles) that we’re watching – it was recommended by Darko. It’s called The Bureau, all about spies. The lead actor is older now, but he was Amélie’s boyfriend in the movie of the same name, back in 2001. I recognized him immediately.

The mini egg cups were out yesterday.

Both Don and I are in the grips of Spring Fever. It’s sunny, it’s beautiful, I can see tiny buds on some of the trees and on the lilac bush, the daffodils are blooming, perennials are emerging from the ground – boy, do I feel the need for this change, this sense of renewal, after a year of the pandemic. We can’t wait to sit on the porch, to go to the nursery to buy plants, to mow the lawn.

Thankful.

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

We actually sat on the porch yesterday afternoon! It was almost 70° here. The sun was almost too hot but felt good at the same time. We watched our youngest granddaughter learn to ride a bike without training wheels and our son kicked a soccer ball around with the granddaughters. We had my husband’s sister and her son and family here as well. Everyone is fully vaccinated with the exception of my son-in-law and the kids. It was a beautiful day followed by a thunderstorm last night.
I love those mini egg cups! They are just perfect.
    Stay safe!

Yes, Easter was low key for my husband and me as well. I spring cleaned my kitchen Saturday from top to bottom, reorganized all of my cabinets, washed them down, got rid of a lot of stuff. Felt liberating! I wanted to continue yesterday in other rooms, but had a sinus headache all day so it ended up being a couch day for me which enabled me to finish watching Bridgerton on Netflix. I didn’t think I would like it in the beginning, but ended up loving it. Happy Spring! Enjoy!

It was gorgeous yesterday…we brought up some of our deck furniture (2nd floor deck), and just sat and enjoyed. I had putzed in the garden on Saturday, so I took a day of rest. I actually needed it….that first day was exhausting.

It’s a good idea to take your time with outdoor work…after all, I figure we’ve got the whole month, til it’ll be consistently warm enough to even think of planting.

Enjoy your day….and stay safe! ;)

      Stay safe, Donna.

I had such a lovely day with family and love being in the sun! Feels so good. The pollen is awful but I have to get out of the house some. Hugs!

Yes, the pollen is getting to be a problem here as well. The wind kicked up today and I started sneezing.

      Stay safe, Linda.

Oh, it’s great you’ve got some better weather and can enjoy being out in it. I was just checking our SoCalif wildflower report and it’s dismal this year because we’ve had no rain, but I’m hoping to take a drive soon and see some scatterings of wildflowers here and there in the hills and beach cliffs. A lot of people go to the desert here, too.

Your mini egg cups are the bomb!

I’ve got glads coming up like crazy; the deep-purple ones are very striking.

Meant to say, too, that I also love your putz herd!

Don drove to the desert to see the wildflowers the last time he was there working. And the stars.

      Stay safe, Vicki.

I have the same spring fever you do. I’m seeing the lilac buds and daffs, of course and it might have hit low 70s yesterday — it sure felt like it! Your sheep are the best, too.

Happy new week! Easter sounds lovely!

We have had sun and 73* for two days in a row!! It is beautiful having windows open again. The cat is certainly happy!! By next weekend it is to be back in the 50’s. But the grass is greening up beautifully, trees are budding, my chives are up about 6 inches, and the rhubarb is poking through as well. I will take it!!

We do need rain quite badly. The Gov has declared a State of Emergency because of the drought. But it sounds like April showers are on the way. Showers would be lovely ~ a deluge would not be so nice with the ground as hard as it is right now. Hope the rest of your week is nice as well. Take care.

We have a fire warning today because it’s rather dry (even though we’ve had quite a bit of rain lately) and it’s windy.

      Stay safe, Chris.

hello, sheep! and claudia and don and everyone else here!

hope you had a wonderful Easter.

mine was probably like most others’ … bittersweet, also blessed.

the sheep are sure cute, claudia. how many do you have? i have three, all different kinds and love them.

i know you enjoy outside work. glad it will soon be gardening season for you.

    i have spring fever, too.

hope you enjoy “the bureau”. I haven’t watched “amelie” for a long time and need to change that. the soundtrack to that movie is one of my favorites.

just got home. need a quick dinner, then will take it easy.

    stay safe!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
