Day Three Hundred Ninety-Three

April 10, 2021 at 10:02 am by Claudia

More wren love:

Very, very busy.

He/she seems to stop around 10 am.

I saw more nest making activity early this morning, around 7 am, but that seems to have stopped. Maybe the nest is finished?

While I had the camera out, I grabbed a photo of this guy.

Robins must look like giants to a wee little wren!

I did my first clean-out of the big garden bed, as well as the bed right next to the porch. I’ll have to do more work, but the first ‘sweep’ is done. We’re heading into much cooler weather tomorrow. Today, we’ll reach 72 and then it rains tomorrow and the high only reaches 50 degrees on Monday! It’s been lovely, but in truth, it’s been a little too warm for this time of year.

Today, I am actually going to take it easy. I vowed to take every other day off this past week but I ended up doing some work outside nearly every day. I have a zoom meeting at noon with an actor friend of mine who has moved back to India. I’m going to help him with a Southern dialect for a reading he’s doing.

And then, some laundry, vacuuming, and my puzzle. This one is a  New Yorker puzzle using Seurat’s famous “A Sunday Afternoon….” painting as its inspiration, so that means the entire cover is done in pointillism…dots. Difficult!

Something tells me I might keep doing puzzles, even through the spring. We’ll see.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday!

sweet birds. love the robin’s expression, but haven’t decided … is he trying to figure out you and the camera or is he staring and daring you to get any closer? probably both … it’s nest-building season and robins are pretty territorial anyway and maybe he’s not met you and a camera yet. :)

glad you are taking it easy and have another puzzle to enjoy.

i am gone usually twelve hours on weekdays and several hours each on saturdays and sundays so am taking it easy here, too. an overcast morning helps. in a few minutes i will get groceries and other supplies for some family members and me, visit them <3 see about cutting fabric at a local store and later probably take a nap, too.

hope you have a nice day.

I took the photo with my telephoto lens, so I don’t know if he even saw me!

      Stay safe, Kathy!

Oh, I can’t wait to see that puzzle! Your little tenant has been quite busy. Perhaps babies soon?

They say rain is due this afternoon and we are having friends join us for dinner so I’d best get a few things done outside while the going is good! Happy Saturday!

Such a sweet bird house and so happy to see the wren moving in! We had such warm days and today it is pouring rain and cooler in the 60’s. I’m happy to see the rain wash away some of the pollen and hope my energy levels will go back up this coming week. Love seeing your puzzles.

I enjoy watching our birds. We have several houses and usually have a bluebird family. We also have robins that want to build a nest in a large grapevine wreath that hangs right by our front door. I should take it down for awhile. They are quite persistent and make a big mess right by the door we use all the time.
    Enjoy your puzzle.

Long ago, we had to close off the little openings at the edge of the porch roofline because starlings would build nests there and we couldn’t go out on the porch for a month!

      Stay safe, Marilyn!

Wrens are one of my favorite birds – so tiny and sassy. I have read that a male wren will prepare/claim more than one house by filling it with sticks, then the female will choose the winning nest and that is where they will construct their tiny nest sac for their eggs, surrounded by all the tiny sticks that either insulate them or protect them from predators or both. Your house with wrens in it looks like the perfect setting for a Beatrix Potter story! I hope we get to see the wren family story unfold in their vintage camper!

Yes, someone else mentioned that as well! I sure hope the female chooses this nest! He’s been out there working on the nest all morning!

      Stay safe, Barbara!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
