Day Three Hundred Seventy

March 18, 2021 at 10:20 am by Claudia

A rainy day today with about an inch of rain expected. Then the warmup begins.

What exciting news do I have for you? Let’s see, we’re picking up groceries later this afternoon. That’s exciting. I have another puzzle arriving today. That actually is exciting, because, instead of doing anything with the dollhouse (I didn’t have the patience for measuring yesterday) I finished the puzzle instead.

The trees were the most challenging – as well as the road. But as you know, when you’re heading toward the finish of a jigsaw puzzle, pieces start going into place pretty quickly. The next puzzle isn’t as bright – in fact, it’s pretty dark and moody – but it shows a trio of musicians rehearsing inside a NYC apartment and I love music and musicians.

Hopefully, I’ll get upstairs and do some work on the dollhouse today.

I’ll admit it. I’m restless for Spring and I’m tired of the heat being on and the brown monotone of the surrounding countryside. I’m ready for our second shot, but it won’t be until the 31st. I’d like to start working outside, even if only to wash our siding and take down old wasp nests from the ceiling of the porch and clean the porch railings. Not exciting, but satisfying nonetheless, and it’s all stuff I can work on before it’s time to do anything with the gardens. As the temps will be in the 50s and 60s next week, I’ll be doing just that.

Stay safe.

Happy Thursday.

sounds like a busy but good day. i am glad for you.

love the puzzle … the style, the colors, the scene, the sea and cloudy sky, the inclusion of a church. :) and the price of a magazine in 1938 …! good luck with the dollhouse-measuring work when you get to that and with the darker, moodier puzzle ahead.

i am in a darker, moodier mood and i don’t like it. today is my twin sister’s and my birthday (63) and i can’t see all my family and give them thanks and hugs as i want to do so i am sad. also, still trading phone calls to try to set up physical therapy for my back (trusting the four vertebrae have healed enough and the bone-building shots are helping enough for p-t, but who knows for sure? makes it a little scary.) if i can’t be with all my family, i want to get outside for walks and the benefits of nature, clean my apartment and sew (even though i don’t like in person some of the fabric i ordered online) rather than be at work where three more people have been diagnosed with covid in the last 24 hours ….

someone told me that iowa will open up vaccines to all adults as of april 05. i’ve not seen anything in writing about that, but i hope it’s true. an answer to prayers and that will help my mood.

hope you all have a good day. stay safe!

and thanks for listening to my moodiness.

Happy to listen to your moodiness, Kathy. I understand.

But most importantly, Happy Birthday! I hope you know you’re surrounded with love – from your family, your friends, and from the readers of this blog. I’m sorry you can’t be with your family, but next year will be better. Praying for a vaccine for you very soon.

      Much love and stay safe.

        thank you, claudia, very much.

i do know and feel that love from my family and friends, including friends here. thank you for that.

i didn’t really want to mention my down mood because most of us (those of us who’ve been following cdc guidelines, anyway) are in the same boat with many of the same lousy, heart-breaking experiences and no one needed the reminder … but i wrote it because i was feeling it, knowing i am among friends here. thank you all for listening, caring and sending cheer on my birthday, too.

here’s to better days ahead for everyone.

Happy Happy Day, kathy!!! No matter what, we continue with our journeys around the sun. I am glad that the vaccine may be coming soon for you and your loved ones. Hubs and I have had our 2nd and our son & wife and our daughter have had their 1sts…. it truly is a wonderful feeling. I am glad that more and more states are moving forward with the vaccines, and sad to hear of so many who won’t take them! Just craziness. I hope you do enjoy your day, and here is to many many more where you will be able to celebrate with friends and loved ones!!

    I do love that puzzle.
I have spring fever too. I’m itching to get outside and do some yard cleanup, take a walk, etc.
Yesterday it was cold and rainy.
Today I plan to walk on the bike trail. I took a short walk a few days ago to check it out and it’s mostly bare.
Have a good day and stay safe.

That is a great looking New Yorker cover! I like the colors and I always like to peek at the price of the magazine. My son passes the magazine down to me after he has read it and I always enjoy it. Now its cost is $8.99! but I still love the covers!
Too windy and chilly today so I probably won’t get out for a walk. This weekend, tho, we will get some Spring weather again. Hurray!

I really like the New Yorker puzzle, Claudia. There seems to be a lot more choice available in the States. I own four of the series, one of which you also have (Girl in a Bookstore).
It’s not raining today but still feels chilly. Am getting a bit fed up of the rain although it’s nothing new, it does rain a lot where I live but we wouldn’t have ‘ a green and pleasant land’ without it!

There’s a 12 week gap between first and second vaccinations so it’s the end of April until I can feel a bit safer.

    Happy Thursday

Its sunny but very windy today. I’m hoping it blows on by and I can get outside for just a bit. Recovering from the 2nd vaccine shot. Some reactions but well worth it and they only lasted a day or so. in 2 weeks we have some immunity and going out masked will be safer. I’m looking forward to that.

I love this puzzle but it’s weird. You said it was 1930s. But the women in the foreground with their long dark outfits look like no later than 1915-20, and the bicycle and horse cart look of that time. But the couple walking down the center of the road look far more contemporary, possibly in 30s swimming garb. I wonder what the women in the long gowns think of their “scanty” attire!

I hope you get to do your spring things soon. I’m in house clean-up mode today before our vaccinated friends come for dinner tomorrow. I’m so excited to see them! Have a lovely day!

No, I said the date of the magazine issue was 1938. I don’t think the puzzle takes place in 1938. I’m thinking it’s the twenties. The older women may be still wearing long skirts. The swimwear looks of the 20s to me. And then there’s the horse-drawn cart, which still exists even now.

Or maybe it’s supposed to represent all eras? The timelessness of the beach?

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

Sunny and very windy here today…but the next 3 days are supposed to be warmer and sunny. I have spring fever really bad myself….wondering if it’s too early to uncover the hostas…I’m sure it is. But, I’m hoping there is something I can do outside.

We have small outdoor projects to do as well around here…paint the front door, repaint the iron railing on the front porch, wash windows. But with rain predicted for next week,,,,those things will have to wait.

That is one of my favorite puzzles you’ve done. Guess it’s just a more peaceful hustle and bustle of yesteryear that’s appealing to me. Anxious to see what’s next up in your puzzle lineup.

Enjoy your day….and stay safe! ;)

I love the colors in this puzzle. But, like Jeanie, I wondered about the two wandering the street in their swimwear in 1938. I thought the swimwear was not quite so “brief”…. especially the lady. Obviously they were happy ~ and perhaps a bit ahead of the times! Trendsetters!!

It is sunny today, but OH, so windy!!! Supposed to be a nice weekend. Everyone is ready for that. I hope your day is going well. Take care.

I think it’s an earlier time – there’s a horse-drawn cart – maybe the twenties? Those suits look of that period and no one was shy about their bodies in the 20s.

Happy Birthday Kathy! We are the same age! I hope and pray that next year will find us all celebrating with our loved one! Here in MA, they have opened up the window for vaccines for those 60 and over starting on Monday. Though, that is not to say that it will be easy to find a shot. I have preregistered and will keep my fingers crossed. By mid April, our Governor has said that anyone 16 or older will be eligible. We are getting closer to the finish line. Patience, patience.
