Day Three Hundred Seventy-Two

March 20, 2021 at 10:31 am by Claudia

More egg cups from the cubby cabinet. Bunnies, a chicken or two or three, a goose, a rooster, two pigs, chicks, a wooden sailor (a birthday gift from Scoutie,) a little girl dressed like a bunny, two dogs holding up a cup. From England: a walking ware cup and a little cottage. From Prague: a square cup with a hand painted egg (a gift from my husband from his time filming in Prague.) From Holland: a Delft cup. From France: a beautiful hand painted cup with delicate flowers and two morning glory cups that I found in Paris. A wood/ceramic cup from my mom. A wonderfully crazed and boldly painted flower cup that I found in a local shop. The green and white cup was one of the first ones I purchased and the chicken cup next to it was another gift from my mom. Oh, and two wooden cups and a face cup. More to come.

It’s sunny today and it will be nearly sixty degrees, an entirely appropriate forecast for the first day of Spring. Happy Spring! I am well aware that the weather here can change on a dime, but for now? I’m celebrating.

There are books to be read, puzzles to solve, drawers to be sorted, and walks to be taken. Too soon for any work on the garden but next week I’m going to start cleaning the siding.

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

beautiful … the egg cups, their stories, the gift-givers’ hearts and that of the recipient and their home in that cupboard!

also beautiful … that you can get to gardening sooner rather than later. happy first day of spring!

i’ve now received all the fabric i ordered (ten yards, i think!) and made decisions about what will go where. just need time and especially enough light to sew five pillows and two whole-cloth throws. heading out to get groceries and especially enjoy visits with members of my family. :) <3

    happy, safe saturday!

I think the chicken cup on the bottom is my favorite in this group. How many egg cups do you have?

Since we are fully vaccinated now we had an adventure yesterday. We took our granddaughter shoe shopping for track shoes (spikes) and then we ate lunch in a restaurant! It made me a bit uncomfortable but everything was done perfectly. Everyone masked, tables far apart (more than 6 ft), hand sanitizer available. The shoe store was very compliant too.

It’s a beautiful sunny day here, a good day for a walk.

    Happy Spring!

      I don’t know. I used to know – probably 60 or so?

Glad you got to get out with your granddaughter, Marilyn!

A great day on tap here too. We’re going to take a drive….we figure, drive for a couple of hours west…then come on home. Just to see something different. Then, we plan to walk ‘the estate’ which is our way of saying walk around the yard and see what’s coming up. Such an exciting day planned…well, it is to us.

I just love the egg cup with the two baby chicks on the teeter totter…so cute. Have fun doing whatever today…you do have a variety of things from which to choose. Stay safe! ;)

We’re going to take a drive on Monday – thereby avoiding the weekenders.

I see my day lilies coming up!

      Stay safe, Donna!

What a pretty display! Your home is truly unique and reflects the owners. I want to thank you for suggesting the series A French Village. I binged watched the entire series and just finished last night. I should have paced myself but I was hooked from episode one. The actors were amazing….I have my favorites. The story was gripping. It was total immersion for me. I wont spoil it for those of you who have yet to see it. Pace yourself…..I am bleary eyed but it was time well spent. I am now going to attempt to wash my kitchen windows inside and outside to let the sunshine in. Not an easy job, involving balancing myself over my sink and removing screens. Stay safe and enjoy the day.

It’s one of the best series I’ve ever seen, if not the best. We’re getting close to the end. We’re trying to drag it out because we don’t want it to end!

      Stay safe, Maria!

I always enjoy seeing your egg cups and the amazing cupboard you have them displayed in. My collection is small but meaningful to me. Its time to rearrange and bring the egg cups out to live in my home again. Hugs!

The egg cup collection is always a pleasure to see. Thanks for re-introducing them to us! Do you also have egg cups that you use? We use all my egg cups but I don’t have nearly the number, variation or uniqueness that you have.

Gulp…is it already the first day of Spring?!?! Enjoy, Claudia.

      Glad you’re there safely, Brenda!

My sister lives in Florida – be careful. There are a lot of non-maskers there. She has to deal with them every day.

Stay safe and enjoy your family!

Definitely Spring in SoCalif; HUMID (I’m near the coast); tough on my asthma. We got a spot of rain in early-morning hours but it’s in the 70s now at 1pm PST; so, we steam. Glad you have a nice day and I hope you enjoyed a pleasant walk!

(The egg cups are of course FAB!)

I am so very, very, very, happy today! My sister-in-law figured out a system to the algorithm at a local vaccine site and was able to secure appointments for my brother and other sister-in-law, her cousin’s husband and myself for today!! This happened about 9 pm last night. I was so excited that I barely slept. I thanked every single volunteer I encountered for being there for all of us. To say I am grateful is a huge understatement! Go back on April 10th for the 2nd shot. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and the beautiful weather we are having!

Celebrating the first day of Spring by making an appointment in Southfield for next Friday for first Covid shot. After isolating at home for a year, so excited to finally take this first step. Thank you for blogging throughout this year. It was always a little peaceful moment in my day even if you were feeling as anxious as I was feeling–at least I wasn’t the only one feeling so.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
