Day Three Hundred Sixty-Six

March 14, 2021 at 9:40 am by Claudia

Well, I’m all thrown off by the time change. When I woke up this morning and checked the time on the cable box in the bedroom, I thought, “Wow, I really slept in!” I carried that thought with me as I came downstairs and then Don reminded me it was actually only 7:15. Nevertheless, the time says it’s much later and I have a deadline for this post.

So it will be brief.

It’s sunny today but we’re due for more wind this afternoon and evening.

I’m just about to finish A Chelsea Concerto  and put it aside to write this post, so I’ll be going back to it shortly.

I finished the puzzle:

This was the hardest one yet. So many dark colors; dark blues, grays, purples, and black, so it was often hard to figure out what went where. Early in the afternoon, I finally hit that place where everything seems to magically go in place. Finally! This is entitled: Monday at the Met, Monday being the traditional day the museum is closed. So you see the subjects of paintings, having exited their respective canvases, eating ice cream, and listening with headphones to a music player of some sort – this is circa 2001, so I’m not sure what was the rage at the moment. It’s awfully fun, this cover. The artist is Edward Sorel.

The next one is quite different and I’ll start in on it today.

Stay safe.

Happy Sunday.

i sure wish they’d settle on a time (perhaps move the clock one-half hour or leave it so it would be lighter at night in winter and leave it be) so we could all skip this twice-yearly adjustment!

the puzzle looks great. and what a clever piece of art! hope you enjoy the next one, too. i enjoy seeing them; thanks for all that you share.

we had a bit of rain early this morning. more is expected and there’s a chance for snow tomorrow. i much prefer the rain and hope the temperature stays above freezing.

hope you are having a nice start to your day. taking it easy here.

So far so good, but the winds are picking up and we have a wind advisory. (I’m so tired of all the wind.)

      Stay safe, Kathy.

I hate these time changes, too! (I smiled to see that your title had set the clock back a few days! I can relate. 😀)

Whoops! I fixed that. That’s how foggy I was this morning!

      Stay safe, Shanna!

I just checked and my library does not have “A Chelsea Concerto” so I may have to request they get it. It sounds very interesting.
Now that I am retired, the time change really doesn’t affect me as I don’t have to be “on the clock” anymore!
Clever puzzle – thanks for explaining about Mondays being the day the museum was closed. I hadn’t quite figured that out yet!
    Stay safe!

It was just reissued after many years in February. The publisher is Dean Street Press.

It took me a day to realized what was going on in the puzzle!

      Stay safe, Ellen!

I don’t like the time changes but since I’m resting today it’s all good. Tomorrow we get our second covid shot and we are hoping for no side effects like the first time. Love these puzzles you’ve been doing. So much fun.

It’s a very clever conceit for a cover design. Wish you could pop over and help me with mine! I did make a bit of progress yesterday. Being fragmented and juggling a good book, the puzzle, online and cleaning doesn’t help!

    Have a wonderful Sunday!

It’s awfully fun and just like doing crosswords, you get better at it the more you do!

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

The woman in the foreground with her hand reaching down to the young boy standing (wearing red clothing)? She looks like she stepped out of that painting by John Singer Sargent called, “Portrait of Madame X”. And the other woman in the foreground (next to her) holding the boy on her shoulder is the Ia Orana Maria, an “1891 oil on canvas by Paul Gauguin, now in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, one of the first works in his Tahitian period and shows two Polynesians greeting the Madonna and Child”. How fun, to pick out the subjects in the various paintings! It’s a really colorful and intricate puzzle. Has been great seeing your assortment of unique puzzles. Such a terrific winter, stay-home endeavor/hobby/stress-reducer.

Yes, I identified them as well.

I’m not sure of the rest, but those two women in the foreground are perhaps the most famous subjects!

      Thanks, Vicki!

      Say safe.

Every six months, my body and brain get whacked out because of a little change in the clocks. I don’t know why, but it throws me off every single time. I don’t think this country has enough farmers left to make the change worthwhile (sad to say). I never understood the concept of an “extra” hour of daylight. Not to mention that after 8 years of having my car, I don’t remember how to change the clock.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
