A very short post this morning, my friends.
Random thoughts:
It’s finally here. The day that seemed so far off in this endless four years of grift and lies and crimes and corruption is here. It feels like Christmas morning here at the cottage.
We watched the moving ceremony at the Reflecting Pool that honored all the victims of COVID. I started crying. I imagine I’ll be crying off and on all day today.
I watched Joe Biden tear up during his goodbye in Delaware. Watched him cry as he acknowledged his son, Beau. A man who is not afraid of expressing emotion, a man comfortable enough with who he is to wear his heart on his sleeve – this is a true leader. And we finally have a President and Vice-President who share our grief over 400,000 lives lost.
We have a lot of work to do. But, for the first time in four years, we have a leader who is more interested in us than he is in himself.
What a concept.
To all the resistors, to all who fought against the cesspool that was the Trump presidency, to all who wrote their representatives, who marched in protest, who called him out, who tweeted, who volunteered on campaigns all over the country, who went door-to-door, who texted, called, rallied and did everything they could to elect Joe Biden – THANK YOU.
We’re here.
Stay safe.
Happy Inauguration Day.

At last America is free and hope returns that we can be a country that seeks to include everyone. A country as MLK said judges people for the content of their character. It will not be easy but at least we have started ….again.
I wish you a happy day,
Kaye

I am so happy today is finally here. I never watch TV during the day but it will be turned on in 1-1/2 hours. I can’t wait.
And…the sun is out today. After weeks of nothing but gloomy, gray skies, how appropriate that the sun is finally shining TODAY.

Thinking of you and Don. Biden’s speech is going down in history as one of the best inauguration speeches ever. And the young poet also–great words, such energy, a performance to top all the singers, less ego and more message. And to hear Vice President and Second Gentleman…despite my ongoing suicidal mental illness, I am sooo grateful to be alive today. Breathe, smile, cry, and repeat. you’ve earned it.
kathy in iowa says
hej, nora in ct …
i’m wishing and praying for you that every day you feel like you do today … grateful to be alive … and that you see and feel more and more good things happening and growing not just somewhere else in the world, but also specifically in your own life and mind. and if you don’t feel better, i hope and pray that you would talk with a trusted and responsible adult (family member, friend, your doctor, 9-1-1 …) about how you feel and get help you might need. help is available and all of us need help of varying kinds throughout our lives (said as someone who’s been on anti-depressant medication twice in my life). take good care of yourself and know that better days are ahead.
on a different point, i feel the same way about our new president and that young poet … they each did such a wonderful job in their words and presentation, made me cry happy tears.
hope you stay safe, well and have easy days.

Sorry, should have added: the ceremony to remember all those lost to the pandemic was beautiful and moving. Shows right from the beginning how much a new administration cares for its people.

Alleluia, what a happy day! I live 30 miles from DC and it’s bright and sunny here today. It’s breezy and I feel like it is fresh air now that the corrupt one is gone!
We have lost so much and too, too many these past few years. The scars for so many will last forever. I hope for the sake of the residents of DC, that we can now go back to some sense of normal, though I think it will be a new normal.
We marched, we resisted, we voted and we WON! Today I finally feel true hope for the first day in much too long of a time. Democracy wins!

It is the best day ever! I’ve been crying, singing and watching the pageantry. I haven’t felt this good in months. Enjoy! Kit

Oh, what a glorious day!! I feel true joy!! I have watched all day long! I have cried periodically and I have laughed happily. I enjoyed every speech and every song. It has truly been lovely. To add to the joyfulness, we have enjoyed a sunny day!! Very very cold…. but very very sunny! The state motto of Wisconsin is ‘Forward’. I hope that as a country that is where we are headed and to where we keep our eyes focused. Here is to honesty and truth.

P.S. my daughter sent me a pic of herself in her pearls which she wore for her day of zoom meetings today. Son & DIL sent a pic of the little one in her Biden-Harris 2020 shirt she wore for the day. :-)

I cried as I watched President Biden walk into the White House. And cried even more as I watched Vice President Harris do the same. Never in my lifetime did I believe I would see a woman vice-president. Very emotional.
A friend of mine had a suggestion. She said to anyone who can afford it, think about donating $46.00 to your favorite charity. I thought that was a nice idea.

It’s 11:00pm and I’m just catching up on your blog from this morning – I have spent a very non- productive day watching all the events on TV and it was well worth every moment – from saying
bye-bye to DT and family enjoying all the grace and unity in Washington from the church service to the fireworks – I think I will sleep well tonight and look forward to seeing what tomorrow brings. Take care.

So very happy for you. Love from Beverley
