Day Two Hundred Thirty-Eight

November 6, 2020 at 9:57 am by Claudia

I was wondering what photo I should quickly take to insert in this post when Don took a picture of what we were doing exactly 10 minutes ago during our morning cup of coffee and I realized that this was the perfect photo.

This.

Thanks, husband.

We were up quite late watching MSNBC. We were up quite early doing the same. We wait.

An extraordinary bubble of joy has started to percolate in my solar plexus.

It’s coming.

And I want to take back my thoughts on Steve Kornacki. I think the hyper quality we saw was pre-election. Since then, he’s been extraordinarily steady and smart and thank goodness he’s there. He is terrific at his job. Wow.

It’s coming, my friends. I won’t talk about what OM said last night. We didn’t watch him. But I know what he said. He will be assigned to the dustbin of history, that place where fascists and dictators and liars and evil men go. He is now a blithering idiot who cannot accept that he has lost. Unlike other times in his sorry life, there is no one to rescue him. He can bring as many lawsuits as he wants. It won’t change a thing.

If necessary, he will be yanked out of the Oval Office on January 20th. He will be prosecuted by New York State, by the NYC DA, by others. His carefully built up web of lies, lies he has told all of his life in order to create a persona that never was the reality, will be crushed. He will, as I have said since 2015, be exposed as the Emperor with no clothes.

I’m also going to give myself a little wee pat on the back. Don can attest to this: I have said since the beginning that Joe Biden is the only candidate who could win this election, that he was and is the man who can help us start to heal. When everyone else was cheering on other candidates (all good people) I took the somewhat unpopular view at the time that it had to be Joe Biden.

I was right.

That’s all I’ll say about that because, as a rule, I am not comfortable blowing my own horn.

First woman Vice-President. First woman of color. My god, hallelujah!

Let’s get ready to celebrate.

(I also vowed to dance in the street when Trump is defeated. And I will.)

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

I too am starting to feel hopeful! I’m trying hard to get mired in the news cycle which just makes my heart race and my eye twitch but I am checking the headlines occasionally! I’m sure there is a lot of fight still ahead but I believe it will be a losing battle!

But Trump will stir up trouble.

We’ll be dancing with you!!! Hopefully we can start to heal our nation and once again reflect to the world the good and kind people the majority of us are. I want to thank you for helping us to have a outlet and the reinforcement of like minds during the last five years. There were many days I thought the world had gone crazy but reading your words and those of your followers I knew I wasn’t alone in my despair and that we must make a change. As always thanks for all you share and put those dancing shoes on!!

My daughter became physically ill this week from anxiety during the voting/counting. We’re all anxious where I live – what happens in America impacts us all.

This morning a song from my university days came on – ‘Rise Up’ by the Parachute Club (Canadian). If you’ve never heard it, well, the lyrics could not be more spot on. Then my daughter gave me the latest update – I’m already dancing!

Wishing you and all your readers a brilliant day!

I dunno, Claudia. I’ve been watching nonstop. The world has stood in suspended animation (is that the right phrasing? [suspenseful anticipation?]) since Tuesday here in my house. I’m hopeful. But still feeling not so sure. It’s a sobering situation, especially since Trump’s absolutely-horrible comments on camera. Maybe I’ll feel a little more secure later this evening. It seems recounts will be no big deal. So far the SCOTUS shoots down Trump’s lawyers. But he & his have had a lot of time to nail down their game-plan; I’m sure it’s well-rehearsed, and I don’t trust any of them; Trump has made me very skeptical of Republicans in general whereas, as I’ve previously said, in ‘olden days’, I was taught to believe in the two-party system of government/democracy; I just figured they had opposing opinions. But nothing like this divide.

Again, an emotional rollercoaster the likes of which I can’t remember ever experiencing in an election. And I will say one thing, I do KNOW what poll workers, in at least California, had to go thru just to get the job (because my husband has done it before and was poised to do it this election if not for Covid; he had multiple interviews over these past weeks and the county personnel were making very sure just who they were getting to work the polls) and poll workers take their jobs VERY seriously; so, what an insult to throw their integrity and accuracy and dedication into question.

CNN’s John King and His ‘Magic Wall’ is also effective; I have some newfound respect for him. He’s made some good and fair comments about the voting. He’s got a quick mind.

Recounts are nothing. The lawsuits are frivolous. This is nothing that we weren’t prepared for. Biden will win – he’s really already won. The vote counting is slower than we’d like.

Don’t let Trump get in your head. He no longer should have any place there.

Yes, you are right and I momentarily ‘forgot’ that Joe Biden and his team are just as much ready to deal with all of this bullsh*t from Trump and his Repugs. I’d forgotten when I heard Biden say such a long time ago that he had a big ‘fear’ that Trump would refuse to leave. What I wouldn’t love to see Trump escorted out of the White House with a team of Secret Service or police getting him off the grounds of The People’s House. What a fool he is; even for him, how degraded he has left himself in front of the American people and the world; pathetic isn’t even the word. I was watching one of the channels when they just abruptly shifted away from him and went to something else; bravo. We didn’t need to hear more lies. Absolutely disgraceful. It should never have had to be this way and I don’t like what it says about me that I look forward to watching him wither along with the power he’s abused. We’ll have a return to dignity with Joe Biden. And the right kind of strength.

Okay, like everybody, I’m drained. But I’ll keep listening to those legal experts interviewed on the nighttime news shows on TV who are so knowledgeable and who keep saying Trump doesn’t have a chance in hell to steal the election; just keep counting the votes (but my husband is a bit concerned we might not have a REAL sure answer til December; however, also wouldn’t be the first time he’s wrong, and he’d love to be wrong on this one!).

And, yes, Trump is pollution in our heads. The negativity puts me in knots. I don’t think I’ve ever prayed so hard in a long time, that he be gone; banished; a historical footnote as the worst president the U.S. was ever was saddled with; although, thank God, only one term.

xo back atcha; you’ve helped us get thru this, Claudia; your blog is great stress relief! You’ve been very generous with your space and time, plus you provide good balance with your own commentary.

I am still quite nervous. I feel hopeful, and then I plunge into despair. I just want them to CALL IT. I know they are being cautious, but it is killing a whole bunch of us. It just makes it seem that the idiot is still winning. Kornacki went home to get some rest and food, and BOY, does he deserve it, but I really miss him at the big board. He helped me feel hopeful. Earlier today I had heard both Kamala and Joe were going to speak tonight, and now that has been cancelled. Again, it just makes me feel like the waste of skin is winning. And the amount of time it takes to count the votes seems crazy. Of course I want it done correctly, but it seems like molasses.

On a much brighter note, we sat outside today, and the sunshine was lovely, temps in the 70’s and we had an amazing sunset this evening. One more day….. one day more…. we can do this. And then we dance.

If you can find it, watch Colbert’s monologue on Thursday, Nov. 5. He threw out his original (actually, did it later) and did about 10 minutes on the power of democracy and the travesty of the Thursday speech. It was a wow.

I’m still holding my breath simply because I don’t trust OM. It will drag forever (it will seem) but yes, I am optimistic that when all this ends we will be seeing President Biden. We won’t be able to fully relax but yes, we can take a big, collective breath.

You’ve heard about Meadows. Don’t these people ever learn?

I watched it yesterday. It was very, very moving.

Yes, he’ll try to drag it out, but he really doesn’t have a legal leg to stand on.

Meadows was arrogant about the whole thing. What goes round, comes round.

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

(Still haven’t heard from Jerry and I wanted to get him hooked up with this Zoom get together we’re having tomorrow. That is, if he wants to. I mentioned it in my email.)

      Stay safe.

How wonderful to hear hope and excitement in your “voice”. Like you, I believed Biden was the only chance the Democrats had to win this election, even tho I would have preferred someone younger and more progressive. But that isn’t who we needed to stop the bleeding. And when he selected Harris, I felt that she would be energetic and with a younger perspective. Who knew it was Joe’s destiny to save the country? There was a beautiful piece about him read on Morning Joe (a show I usually don’t watch) which chronicled the trajectory of his life, full of tragedy, quiet strength, strong parenting, and total commitment to public service, not to get rich or to prove a point, but to help where he could. I’m very happy for him. What a contrast to what we’ve endured the past 5 years. I expect there will be hell from the White House from now until Jan., but since Republicans are distancing themselves from the dictator, I don’t think he’ll get his way on everything as he has all along. When you dance in the street, I’ll be joining you, rain or shine, with my cane (a la Fred Astaire LOL). Much love to you and Don and the dignified ways you have dealt with so much adversity and pain.

Maybe it will be today? Maybe not? I just want it to be called.

      Thanks, Nora.

      Stay safe.

Who are you going to hate now? I hope you enjoy Dementia Joe for a couple months. He will suddenly disappear in a couple of months and your girl will take over, Enjoy your communism. I hope you will be willing to take in all the border crossers and refugees your so happy to welcome. Your house is big enough. How can anyone who thinks they’re as smart as you say you are can vote for a dementia patient is seriously demented. I hope you never work again and as far as sack of skin as you called our president, have you really looked at the thing you’re married to? you are both the ugliest people inside and out I have ever seen. Enjoy the America you wanted. I live in Texas and I won’t have to deal with the consequences that you two have brought to the nation.

You are disgusting. I’ll leave this here for others to see and then I’ll block you forever from this blog.

You exemplify the word deplorable. Just like your cult leader you attack people personally. Here’s my message to you:

Shut the hell up and NEVER speak to me again.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
