Decorating

December 10, 2009 at 5:51 pm by Claudia

O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree… today we went tree shopping and brought home our lovely Noble Fir. We’re letting the branches settle overnight and tomorrow we will decorate. In the meantime, I’ve been doing a little decorating in other parts of the house.

The simplest decoration: some pine cones next to the parakeet lamp.

The garland on the stairway.

Santa on the spinet desk.

Oh, and this handsome guy. My favorite decoration. I wanted to share this photo of my husband that I took for his website. As you know he is a singer/songwriter as well as an actor. I took a bunch of shots of him the other day. We used the porch as our setting. Just in the nick of time – the next day, this particular area of the porch was covered in snow!

I’m so glad you got your tree! I can see you’ll be busy for awhile. And there’s your beloved parrot lamp. Of course you’d want to add a little decoration to that precious object. The stairs look heavenly. And your hubby is a cutie!

I think he’s the best decoration of all, Claudia! Loved seeing the pic of your sweetie, and I loved seeing what you have done inside. I have not done the first thing, and I’m not in a panic… YET! ;-)

I have been enjoying other people’s decorations.

Oh darn, I forgot it snowed out your way. I’ll have to wait for it to melt before I sneak in and steal that parakeet lamp. Otherwise you’ll be able to follow my footprints to get it back! In all seriousness – gorgeous! Everything! Love all our decorations! Great photo of Don!… Donna

Decorating

December 10, 2008 at 6:38 pm by Claudia

Yesterday, we went to our usual Christmas Tree place and picked out our tree. It is quite lovely. The branches have settled a bit and tonight we will decorate it. The den smells of pine, my favorite scent. I have a pine scented candle, pine scented soap and I used to use pine scented bubble bath. I say used to because I can no longer find it. When I was living in Philadelphia and going to grad school, I would buy this wonderful Austrian pine bubble bath from Wanamakers. I used it all the time. When I moved to Boston to teach, I found it at Caswell Massey, if I remember correctly. That particular brand of pine bath eventually was impossible to find, and I used another brand. Now I can’t find any pine bubble bath. If you have a lead on one, I’d love to know about it.

Today I started decorating a bit around the house. I love the holidays, don’t you?

I’ll post more tomorrow.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
