I knew you’d understand the Christmas blues. My hope is that all of us somehow cope with them and find joy in this Christmas season. Thank you for each and every comment. I can’t tell you how much they mean to me.
I may not be in the Christmas decorating mood quite yet, but I continue to be in a crafty mood. You know all about the obsession scarves, of course, which are ongoing. I have the pattern memorized and the other day as I was crocheting away, a thought struck me. I had an idea for a project that involves just the flower portion of the pattern.
I started out with these:
These are cones of Peaches & Creme Cotton that I had in my stash. I once had this in several colors – I used P&C to make dish cloths. The reason I chose P&C for this project is the texture of the yarn. It’s a bit stiffer (in a good way.) More on that later. I crocheted about 12 of the flowers – 6 in each color.
There they are. Then I found some ribbon that I liked and strung them on the ribbon.
I tied a knot in each end and hung my little crocheted garland on our living room cupboard.

Where to begin?
I am so in love with the fact that your are stitching again. Those cones, those splendid cones. As you can imagine, I want some and I want them righ now. The color is perfect for you and that garland is just “too die for” cute. With a pink ribbon and all. I know just where to visit this holiday season when I get tired of all the red/green.
You have made my day….
Sweet Stitching,
Kate

I forgot to say that I think “the blues” are often part of the holidays, especially in the weeks beforehand.
I am trying to get into gear with decorating also — I admit to trying to do it sooner than I’d like, because of blogging — of all things!
But last year at this time, my mother was slowly leaving us, then during this year several friends and family members have faced serious health challenges, my husband lost his job, and now this Christmas time my father is losing his health battles. So, yes, we DO have good reason to become a bit moody.
I am going to try and drag myself into Christmas — I’ve got kids coming home, thank goodness, and I’ll get to hear my Annie sing O Holy Night on Christmas Eve in church … that’s enough for me to rejoice.
I hope you find other small and precious delights to help lift your spirits. Hugs, Cass

Okay sister of mine, you are freaking me out. I was crocheting a flower today and thought how interesting it would be to make a bunch of these and make a wreath, or a Christmas tree. The garland I think is the best and I love the idea of them in white hooked up together like snowflakes. On another note, my house is decorated and I am in the holiday blues. Love and miss you,
Mere

Hi sweet Claudia,
I love it!! Please post the pattern and yes..they do look like snowflakes! I love blue in Christmas decor.
I wasn’t feeling up to decorating even though I posted that I was. I had to force myself and I’m so glad that I did. When I come home from work, I smell cinnamon and I enjoy the decor on my table and the tree in the dining room. Even though I was crying when I was putting up the decorations last week, it was totally worth it..!
Hugs,
Deanna :D

Seeing those little aqua snowflakes makes me want to learn to crochet more than ever. Would you consider these a beginners project or for someone more advanced? I hope you’ll post the pattern. They are just *perfect* where you have them displayed. Thanks Claudia. xo -amy

Gorgeous, Claudia.
If only I had some talent. All needles run when they see me coming.

Well that is so, so sweet. What a great garland!
As for your post below, I can understand your feelings. It’s been a tough year for many and it can be hard to muster up the holiday spirit. I had no choice but to decorate for the tour but I think I would have waited otherwise. I’ve been appreciating the little things this holiday season, the sweet lady who passed her coupon on to me in line at Hobby Lobby, the bit of snow we’ve had and how excited the kids were. It’s the little things that make life special. :)

Oh Claudia,
I love, love, love this idea! I’ve been in a crocheting mood lately (cooler weather for some reason always gets me in this mood) and I would love the pattern for this little flower/snowflake. I love the color and love how it looks on your cupboard door. So glad you decided to leave it there. Hope your Christmas blues become Christmas reds, greens, golds and all the festive colors of the season soon. Have a wonderful day.
Hugs and Kisses,
