Edging Around the Corner and Adrian

April 15, 2023 at 8:37 am by Claudia

Well, the heat has left us, thank goodness. 90 degrees in mid-April is too much! We are due for rain for the next 3 days, and much cooler temperatures. Only in the fifties on Tuesday.

We stayed indoors yesterday and it did make a difference. We’re edging around the corner with this ‘crud’ but both of us still cough off and on and I’m still congested – though that may be due to allergies, it’s hard to tell.

Good news about Adrian: he took a walk yesterday, many of the tubes (one in his stomach, one in his nose) have been removed. He passed the ‘swallow test’ yesterday so he can start eating food, and he’s more alert and talkative. What a great news bulletin that was! It’s been less than a week since the heart transplant. We’re overjoyed!

The trees are budding, little green leaves are appearing. I’m sure the heat sped up that process. Birds are singing like crazy – the joys of spring. Now, if I can just get out there and do something soon. There is much cleanup ahead and I haven’t bought one flower for my pots. I feel way behind, but working and being very sick have slowed me up.

A new outfit arrived in the mail the other day and I realized that I had always envisioned Maeve as the perfect girl to model it.

I can’t get over how cute this is! It’s by La Petite Pamplemousse on Etsy/Wir’s Mom. I have a couple of her dresses and she makes the most beautiful clothes. And, she lives in California. She made the beret, too. Best of all, her clothes are very reasonably priced.

Love the flowery pants (I’ve had a pair or two like that) and the wonderful jacket. It also came with a little knitted scarf. I love Maeve in hats of any kind. That fiery red bob works well with a hat.

(I’m running out of shoes. With so many girls, I’m going to have to order some more.)

Finished Underland  yesterday. Read a chapter of War and Peace.

Tonight, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel  is back!

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

Such happy news about Adrian. And doesn’t Maeve look darling in her new outfit? Love the pants, too. It’s difficult to buy the proper size shoes for these little ones. Sometimes they are too large and sometimes it is just so hard to get them on. I have a pair of pale pink Uggs with fur that Jessie loves and they go on so easily. Glad you and Don are feeling some better. Enjoy your weekend but take it nice and slow. You don’t want a relapse. Hugs, Elaine

I have a pair of sneakers that are just way too big!

We’re feeling better but still far from well. Don is forcing me to take it easy today!

      Stay safe, Elaine.

that’s great news about adrian! thank you for the updates.

glad that you and don are starting to feel better, too.

my prayers continue for you all and everyone else, too.

    darling outfit on maeve.

hoping we get cooler temperatures here, too. no 90-degree days here yet (thanking God for that), but even 80 has felt like too much too soon. i don’t want summer in springtime!

working on making removable free-standing shelves for the older tv armoire that i bought last week. today am making a pattern out of a couple of huge cardboard boxes, to hopefully get it right the first time … ha but not really ha. i like these kinds of projects, but do wish it was already done … my living room floor is full of stacks of books, dvds, etc. (not the worst problem to have, i know. and not really a problem!).

hope you, don and everyone else have an easy day today. stay safe.

Every year we have a few days of 90 degree temperatures in April/May. Like clockwork. It will get back to normal. It’s going to be in the fifties and sixties next week.

Good luck with your shelves, Kathy. I know you can do it.

      Stay safe.

Yay for Adrian! That sounds great!

I’m crushing on Maeve’s outfit, especially the cute hat and those fun pants. Here’s a question for you… might the girls be interested in a couple of books that are closer their size than the miniatures? Probably 2″ square in little box cases — one on Leipzig, one on Einstein, illustrated. (The illustrations in Leipzig could be framed if you’re needing such things for the doll houses. Anyway, if you’re interested, let me know. Otherwise, it’s probably Goodwill, where I suspect that they won’t be appreciated! (If so, email me address info.)

They might be a bit too big, but why not give it a try?

      Thanks so much, Jeanie.

      I’ll send you a message.

Very slowly (my stamina is not the best at the moment) but things are budding and leaves are popping out!

      Stay safe, Vicki.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
