Yesterday, right after talking on the phone to my friend Joe, who had just received Jan’s ashes, my best friend Laural texted me from a hospital where she had been admitted with congestive heart failure, severe edema, and Covid. She had been on a cruise with her husband and several friends in Hong Kong. She started feeling ill while still on the cruise. She got back to the Chicago area on Tuesday evening and by Thursday evening she was in the hospital. She has battled congestive heart failure before. Obviously, this is very worrying. We’ve been best friends since I was 12.
Please, if you would be so kind, send prayers her way. I haven’t checked in with her today, but will after I’ve finished this post. Needless to say, I woke up way too early today. Too much on my mind, I guess.
Today’s egg cups are double egg cups. The bottom is narrower and meant for a hard boiled egg. The wider top is for a soft boiled egg.
These are transferware egg cups. The one on the left was one of my first purchases. It’s brown transferware from Mason’s Vista in England. The middle egg cup is Flow Blue. Since there is no identifiable mark, I don’t know who the maker was. On the right, a red transferware cup from Johnson Brothers in England.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.
prayers for sure will be said and continue. thanks for letting us know about laurel, jan …

Thank you, Kathy. The same to you.

What a story about your friend Laurel – Hong Kong, cruising and probably a long long flight. I am holding positive thoughts and hopes for her and hoping you have good news this weekend.
Love these utilitarian looking egg cups!
Ceci
Thank you, Ceci.
She’s hanging in there.
Stay safe.
Shall definitely pray for your friend Laural (what lovely name). Thanks for sharing more of your egg cups with us.
Looking at the middle one, I wonder if it might be Dutch. The blue colour looks very similar to other items of their tableware.
Happy Saturday
It does, but I think it’s English. Flow Blue originated with the Staffordshire potters. The blue glaze flows/looks runny. The Dutch have a blue glaze (I have some Dutch egg cups) but it’s crisper.
Thanks so much, Dee Dee.
Claudia, I’m sending positive thoughts for your friend. So many things… I’m very sorry. Take care…
Thank you, Barrie.
Much appreciated.
Stay safe.
Claudia, I’m so sorry about your friend Laurel. The hospital is the best place for her right now. Will pray for her.
I enjoy seeing your egg cup collection. It never would have occurred to me that the bigger side is for soft boiled egg. Learned something new.
Take care
Thank you, Marilyn.
I sometimes forget to mention what the two cup sizes mean, so I’m glad I thought to say it today.
Stay safe.
Prayers for your friend. Hoping Spring brings us all some joy.
Thank you, Linda.
Oh yes, please – some joy.
Stay safe.
May God hold Laurel and her family firmly with his loving hands. I will be praying for her throughout the day. I always use 3:00 for my prayer time since I have difficulty sleeping.
May your day be filled with many blessings,
Thank you, Christine. Much appreciated.
Stay safe.
What an ordeal for Laural…on a cruise…and a long flight. I will send positive vibes and prayers for her. And you? Take good care of yourself, too. Try not to worry.
Love the egg cups. Enjoy your day! ;)
Thank you, Donnamae.
It’s been a hard stretch, for sure.
Stay safe.
I’m so sorry to hear about your friend and hope she recovers soon.
Thank you, Ellen.
