I’ve been taking photos of my figural egg cups because Country Living magazine contacted me yesterday wanting to know if I would be willing to ship some of my egg cups to them for a photo shoot. They have a monthly feature on collecting. This will be for the May issue. I sent the photos in and the editor sounded excited about what I have, chose some favorites, and I’m going to wrap them in bubble wrap, box them up, and send them to CL via UPS. I should have them back by the end of February.
They found me through Instagram. I’m thrilled to have them featured, but it’s a little bit like sending your kids off to camp. Will they be safe? Some of them would be very hard to replace. They were looking for chicks and ducks and Easter season egg cups, which is just as well, because I told the editor the Snow White set was off the table – it’s too rare and too many years were spent hunting for the entire set.
I actually got out of the house yesterday as we had to drive over to Rick and Doug’s to water their plants. They’re off on a trip. To be frank, there’s no way we would be traveling during this time! I don’t want to be on a plane for several hours with others when Omicron is so contagious. Also, because we travel so rarely, I don’t want to spend money for a trip when I have to wear a mask all the time. But I do understand the urge to escape the winter for a bit, so more power to them.
I set off their alarm again, which is exactly the same as ours, so really, what is my problem???
Anyway, we went to the grocery store first – and by we, I mean Don, Imogen, and me. I had just dressed her in a coat and Don said, “Let’s take her with us!” So, we did.
I sat in the car while Don ran in to grab a few things. Imogen and I played a bit.
The first car journey for Imogen – at least, on this side of the Atlantic. How do you like that coat? I would like a human-sized version. Same for the boots and the leggings.
The entire outfit, thank you very much.
Lordy, she’s cute! It was quite fun to have her in the car with me.
It’s very rainy here today. It will continue all day and then take us into snow and ice tomorrow. I don’t think we’re going to get a lot of it, but any sleet/ice is dangerous. It won’t be helped by plunging temperatures – we won’t be able to rely on the sun to melt everything.
Stay safe.
Happy Thursday.

Oh I love Imogen’s expression! How fun to take her with you. She makes a great companion! I look forward to seeing your egg cups in Country Living.

She is an adorable companion, April!
Stay safe.

That’s exciting that you get to show off your egg cup collection. Congrats!
Claudia says
Thank you, Ellen. It will be just a few cups, I’m sure.
Stay safe.

Claudia I look forward to seeing your egg cups in CL magazine! The coat on Imogen is much like one I had when I was a teenager in the 70″s. Pale grey beautiful wool, patch pockets, wooden toggle closure, hood and white top stitching. I kept it for many years and wish I had not let it go.
I am leary of travel and dining out as well, but just getting out for errands feels like a promise of a return to “normal”, whatever that may be. Stay safe.
Marilyn Schmuker says
Exciting news about your egg cups…congrats!
I want a coat like Imogen’s too.
Take care
Claudia says
I’m not sure which ones will be featured. I’m sending about 8 or 9 of them.
Stay safe, Marilyn.
Claudia says
I love toggle closures on coats! There were coats like this one in solid colors that were very popular when I was in high school. They were called ‘benchwarmers’ in Michigan. I guess to keep you warm while you were sitting on a bench watching a football game.
Stay safe, Sherry.
Shanna says
Coats with the toggle closures were also popular when I was maybe 7 or 8, and were called Car Coats.
Petra says
I got a wonderful egg-cup for you — just your thing — in a thrift shop. It’s wood, and weighs next to nothing.
And then I heard what it would cost me to send it across the ocean: about $ 25. Ouch.
Claudia says
Ah well. Thanks for thinking of me, Petra.
Stay safe.
Tana says
I love your girls!! I like to make up stories about my dolls and what they are doing each day. Hope you don’t find that crazy!
Claudia says
Nope! I do the same thing! And I talk to them, as well.
Stay safe, Tana.

Imogen is adorable. I do love her coat and I love that Don wanted to go to the store with her. Many years ago we took a trip to France and I brought my Riley doll along. It was so much fun having her on the plane, at the bistro tables, and strolling through the rose gardens. When I get to travel again, I would love to take her. For those who don’t know who, Riley is 5 inch little girl doll. So glad that you’re having fun with your girls!
Claudia says
I think I would take one of mine with me, too. But picking just one would be difficult!
So glad to hear from you, Nora. I’ve been wondering how you are.
Stay safe!

That’s such exciting news about Country Living wanting to feature your egg cups. I subscribe to the magazine so will especially look forward to that edition. I love British Country Living as well. They are the only two magazines I never miss. What magazines do you like? You should ask your readers which ones they like.
Claudia says
We’ve had a lot of discussions about magazines on the blog in the past, Brenda. Most people miss Mary Engelbreit’s magazine, and the monthly version of Country Home.
Stay safe!
Linda says
I too love British Country Living
Most other magazines are a waste of money
Brendab says
There is another Brenda on here
I also like those magazines sometimes
Claudia says
Yes, there are two of you!
Brenda says
Brendab, I am Brendak from Saskatchewan, Canada. Not many Brendas around anymore.
Brendab says
Brendab living in Florida now…you are correct…not many of us…have moved 31 times lol

Haven’t seen you here lately, kathy. I was wondering how you were. Good to “hear” your voice. Hope all is well!

OMG! These dolls are just adorable! I LOVE them! Thank you so much for sharing them with us.

Congratulations on Country Living! Your egg cups are beautiful.
So interesting how small our world is because of the internet and social media platforms.
We enjoyed the Country Living fair a few years ago. Attended because of your spare tickets! Wish I had seen you there. The fair was so crowded with people; the good old days when we went places! :)
jeanie says
Congratulations on the Country Living spread. I had long ago let my subscription expire (I love British Country Living but the US has too many ads too badly placed!). BUT, they sent such a deal — one year for $8 and I figured it was worth it for the eye candy! It will have started by then so I will look forward to seeing your egg cups. I wish they’d print a your instagram photo — I love how you display them and it’s such a wonderful presentation.
Loved that sweet little coat (and the model!) Such detail. I’m with you on not getting on a plane. Rick has to, to visit his mom in TX for a week and I’m not happy about it. We won’t see each other for close to a week when he’s back — not till he gets a negative PCR test. I was told in no uncertain terms by the infectious disease doc this week about my fate with Covid so we will do what it takes. It’s harder to be apart when he’s two blocks away than when he is 2000 miles… Ah well. The things we do. We have over a foot of snow now. Spring can’t come soon enough!
Linda MacKean says
Oh I want to travel but it’s just too soon. Two years without seeing my oldest is really hard, Well you know you haven’t seen family in at least that long also. Imogene is adorable and honestly I want to dress like they do! I might be a bit old for it but my youthful spirit loves their style. Stay warm and safe. It’s rainy and cold today. Hugs!
Linda MacKean says
How could I forget to comment on the egg cups! Congrats and I’m so excited you are doing it. I wouldn’t want to send anything to valuable or irreplaceable either. What fun to be in another magazine!
Dee+Dee says
Fabulous news having your egg cups featured in a magazine. Please show the feature when it’s published.
Happy Thursday

Such fun news about the egg cups. I was looking at the calendar the other day and Easter is quite late this year. I love every spring/ Easter when you share them with us! Now everyone will get to see some of the collection. How great!!!
Fun to take one of the girls to run errands with you! Oh, I hope you don’t get the ice. May it all blow in another direction.
I am watching some Olympic Ice Skating. I have such mixed emotions about these games, but I do want to celebrate the athletes. It is all so political as is everything these days, I guess. The IOC seems to live in another world in another time. Makes my head and my soul hurt.
I was looking through my journals the other day and the last time we went into a restaurant to eat was on Leap Day, Feb 29, 2020. Our lives have certainly changed! Take care, kiddo.
