Rain is on the docket for today and tomorrow. The gray skies get me down, but rain will bring green grass and buds on the trees, so I can’t really complain.
And we continue:
Another little niche in the house where I stash more egg cups. By the way, I counted them yesterday. I have more than 70! I don’t have all of them on display, but most of them are.
Starting from the left: from my blogging friend, Linda – this guy has a salter in his tail; the next two are from Japan, a little boy and a cowboy; the wooden egg cup was a birthday gift from Don and Scout, the next two I found online, I don’t think they’re old, I just liked them; and a cottage ware egg cup from England.
Another view of the cottage ware egg cup; the next egg up is from Devon and was a gift for my blogging friend, Mary; theย Chambรฉry egg cup from France has two groundhogs in the design, so you can see why I wanted it; and the last two are plain, utilitarian egg cups that I’ve had for quite a while. Last year I made the bunny egg cozies for them. Mom and son.
Tomorrow – all the egg cups that are scattered here and there around the house. I’ll gather them together and photograph them.
If you celebrate Easter, what are your plans for that day?
I’m feeling better every day, but I’m still coughing off and on. If I feel better on the weekend, I might head into the city to spend some time with my honey. Having him here for one day spoiled me! I miss him. The cottage alway seems less homey when he’s gone.
Happy Thursday.

Do you have the pattern for the bunnies? I made a bunny for my Peter Rabbit egg cup, but it is just the head.
Glad you are feeling better. Sinus problems really can wear you out!
Hope you get to go see that Broadway star you know!
Claudia says
I got it online via a wonderful designer. If you search for the bunny cozies posts from last year, you might find the link. It’s not coming to my mind at the moment.

Little Cotton Rabbits?
Claudia says
Yes, that’s it!
Wendy T says
Hi Debbie, Little Cotton Rabbits is the designer. I like supporting her as she is a busy woman raising an autistic son. http://littlecottonrabbits.typepad.co.uk/my_weblog/patterns-to-buy.html
She has other animals in addition tomrabbits. They are all so cute and can be personalized so much.
Claudia says
Thanks for the name, Wendy!
Carolyn Marie says
We will have lovely Easter dinner and then we will go outside and shovel snow. Ugh!
Claudia says
Oh no! Enough already, right?
Tana says
I got rid of my nagging cough by putting Vick’s on the soles of my feet at night. Took about three nights, but my cough was completely gone! I wasn’t taking any meds. It might only work if you are nuts like me, but you could give it a try.
Claudia says
Thanks, Tana!
Wendy T says
Hi Tana, my daughter is suffering from a cough that keeps her from getting sleep. I’ll try that for her. Thanks for the remedy!

Claudia, Hope you feel well enough to make the trip to NYC to stay a couple of days. We’re heading into high temps that are abnormal for this time of year, almost 10-15 degrees above average. It was 75 when I drove out to buy cat food and cat litter at 5 pm yesterday. No rain until possibly Thursday. We plan to have a staycation at my parents’ house for a few days to visit the Zoo and have high tea at a tea shop near Golden Gate Park.
Claudia says
High tea sounds wonderful, Wendy! Have a lovely time in San Francisco!

70? Wow…I had no idea! Now onto 71, 72, 73? My youngest son and his girlfriend are coming for dinner. Thatโll be it for Easter 2018. I was reminiscing with my other son about Easter baskets from the past….the Easter Bunny used to hide them in the strangest places….so the kids had to find their baskets. We had a good laugh over that one. Hope you feel well enough to see that famous hubby of yours this weekend! ;)
Claudia says
My parents (ahem. The Easter Bunny) used to hide our baskets, too! Have fun with your son and his girlfriend!
Linda @ A La Carte says
I was amazed when you said you had 70 egg cups! Wow and they are so varied and interesting. Mine are scattered here and there now but I know I only have maybe 15. I’ve been working on the house and it feels good to work on getting control of the clutter. Once it’s done maybe I can enjoy some fun things like painting again. Easter will be church with the family, then dinner here with Mom and Sara’s family. I have some fun Easter baskets for the Grands. I think Tiger wants to hunt eggs this year (for real he said, hide them good Dad) so I may stop by their house after church to watch!! I’m hoping for some pretty days!! Hugs!
Claudia says
The kids really make the holiday, don’t they? Such fun!
Karen Milano says
Believe it or not, we’re going to Mohegan Sun on Easter Sunday – they have an awesome huge buffet, our extended family meets there and we just enjoy the shops and a little gambling, nothing terrible, and that buffet. It’s just 40 minutes from here.
Claudia says
And why not? Sounds like a great idea, Karen!
Chris K in Wisconsin says
Oh, the Vicks thing! When I have a bad cough and cold I put a thick coating on the soles of my feet in the morning and put thick socks on and “wear it” all day. At night I do another coat of the Vicks. Maybe I, too, am crazy (it has been mentioned), but I think it really does seem to help. Surely won’t hurt anything! Of course if you are out and about, people may sniff the air as you pass by!!
So glad to hear that you are feeling stronger. Seeing the egg cups is always a treat. Hope you have a snug Thursday. You are right that the rain is helpful for rolling out spring. Not much we can do outside anyhow at this point in time. We have sunshine today, but chances of snow this weekend and a very cold Easter ahead. ugh. One day at a time is all we can do, I guess!!
Claudia says
Oh a pox on snow!! Darn it. It should be gone for the rest of the year, right? And you’re right, there’s nothing to do outside yet. Sigh.
karen says
I would be hard pressed to choose a favorite from all of your cute egg cups. I love the cozies! We’re having Easter dinner here with a group of about 12. It’s supposed to be a beautiful day:)
Claudia says
I hope it is! I’m not even sure what the weather forecast is for my area. I think…partly sunny?
I have a hard time choosing a favorite, too! It changes from day to day.
kathy in iowa says
hope you feel better soon, in part so you can hopefully spend time with don in nyc.
might you see “etm” again?
and did you and jimmy get to meet on opening night? hope so.
happy easter and weekend, wherever you spend it.

oops … to answer your question … we will get together as we can, having a potluck and visit after church.
happy easter!

xo
Claudia says
Probably not. I’d have to pay for a ticket! I didn’t get to meet Jimmy. He was off in a private room and when Don took me there to meet him, we were told he’d just left!
kathy in iowa says
drats! sorry that you and jb didn’t get to meet. hopefully some other time!

Fingers crossed!

Your egg collection is precious. Hope you can be with Don on Easter. We stay home and have a chicken dinner with all the trimmings. We each have a basket filled with a few books for each other[ not that we need more books]. Naturally we have some Easter candy, too.
Marilyn
Claudia says
Don has a show on Easter, so if I get there that day, I won’t see him until the evening. Have a lovely Easter, Marilyn!
Vicki says
How’s it looking in terms of how you’re feeling; if he’s busy working, is it better you just stay home this weekend and mend? We’ll wish you Happy Easter from here in blogworld although I know it’s not the same as you and he being together on a holiday. Or at any time!
Claudia says
I’m feeling much better, but I’m still taking it easy. He might come here, I might go there. We’re waiting to see what’s indicated!
Vicki says
The egg cups should cheer you; they do me; it’s a wonderful collection and I love your bunny cozies.
Our Easter Sunday is always quiet; I like it that way. I’ve been enjoying some hot cross buns which are a big tradition with me. And I always have to buy a small package of Peeps even though they’re too sugary really to eat although I’ll allow myself one of the marshmallow-y goodies; I just like to look at them. Jelly beans, candy eggs, Peeps. In an Easter basket. Oh, those were the days!
At the post office this morning, I about jumped three feet in the air (involuntarily) when a mature rooster crowed. And I mean, he sounded like he was three feet from me, only separated by the post office boxes on the wall. Cockadoodledoo; again. I went around to the counter (I know everybody there; I live in a small town) and one of the clerks shook her head and laughed, “I know, I know; there are FOUR of them here; just got shipped in.” Naรฏve me; I had no idea roosters were ‘mailed’ like this! I remember my mom telling me that when she was a little girl in the 1920s, she’d go with her dad to the post office to pick up a crate of ‘live’ baby chicks but I guess I’ve become too ‘urban’, not realizing this is still how things are done. I was chuckling as I returned to my car. It’s a big, cavernous old building, our post office; from the 1930s. The acoustics for that crowing rooster were sorta perfect; I think he was really enjoying hearing himself, or was it one of his three other friends?!
Vicki says
Wow, did I do a stupid thing a little while ago. I accidently doubled up on one medication I take; got distracted and took two of one which is usually at least 12 hrs apart. Panicked a bit; called the pharmacist; he seemed hesitant/wary. So, had to put a call into my doctor and, bless her, as busy as she is, she called me back within 40 minutes and reassured me I’d be okay. Whew. Didn’t know if I was going to have to go put myself into the ER for safekeeping. They’re potent drugs and accidental overdose can be lethal. I don’t think I’ve ever done that before, like never in my whole/entire life. And I’m by myself today, like you, so there’s no one else here to monitor me. I feel so relieved now. Rather ‘draining’ experience…stressful!
kathy in iowa says
to vicki …
feel better!
glad you caught that double dose. do you use a pillbox? someone i love (who takes some of the same pills at breakfast and then again at dinner) uses a pillbox with the days of the week and “morning, noon, evening, bedtime” on it and finds it helpful. just a thought …
happy easter!

Yes, kathy, I need a better system! Clearly, I survived. Thanks.

Scary when you’re alone! Be careful, Vicki. Glad to know that everything is okay.

Thanks. It was a cautionary tale. Don’t ever want to make THAT mistake again!

I haven’t had a hot cross bun since I was a kid! I should try to find some!
Love the rooster story! I hope whoever ordered him treats him well.
Vicki says
You know how sometimes here we’ll talk of artist Susan Branch? Maybe you’re following her right now but she’s in Cornwall and just posted on her blog that she’d had hot cross buns over there, no frosting. The first time I ever had one was from a Chinese baker (excellent, talented baker) who couldn’t believe I’d never had one. His weren’t so much filled with a ton of dried/candied fruit bits and he did, though, put the cross on the top of the bun with a small strip of white frosting. Also, they were small buns. The ones I get at the grocery store’s in-house bakery have the fruit bits in the dough and they cross the top with a sort of lemon curd which I find weird, but that’s just what they do. Also, their buns are more like large rolls. I swear next year I’m gonna make my own! I bet Stella would turn out some good ones…I checked once, and there were various recipes for them online.
I happened to catch Jimmy B. on one of the late night talk shows (I think it was Fallon’s) and he was talking a lot about “Escape to Margaritaville” plus he played a little bit of guitar for the song. He said the musical is all about fun and audience participation (and how we could all use a little fun in ‘these times’). Wow, the guy has become such a mogul – – he’s apparently going to or already has opened up a couple of over-age-55 retirement communities in Daytona and Hilton Head, I think he said. Calls it an ‘active living’ community. I want to hear more!
Claudia says
Yes, I follow Susan’s trips. As for Jimmy, I read about those retirement communities a while back. He’s really savvy and smart.

My son and I will have a nice dinner of baked ham and all of the yummy sides…any leftover ham and broth will be used to make Pennsylvania Dutch ham pot pie if you know what that is…It is one of his most favorite meals!…that is about it except maybe watching a good movie on Netflix…I also hope that you get to visit Don!…I did not realize how many egg cups you had…That is amazing Claudia!
Claudia says
Hopefully, I’ll get in to the city – either Sunday or Monday. Don has a performance on Easter.
