Elyse, Jodie & Scout

March 31, 2010 at 9:48 am by Claudia

Boy did we have rain yesterday! Wind, rain, flooding and another long drive to and from the airport in the middle of it all. Today will be a tad gloomy and rainy and then tomorrow…sun and at least 70 degrees! Thank goodness. My dear pal Elyse has been coping with flooding in her basement. I saw on the weather channel that the area she lives in had a record amount of rainfall. Speaking of Elyse, I have been meaning to post about this article in Romantic Homes:

I’m so happy for her – you all know how much I adore her. She’s talented, smart, funny and just plain wonderful.

I am continually amazed by the talents of my fellow bloggers. One such blogger, Jodie of Everything Vintage, recently did a post about some jewelry she created. I fell in love with one of the necklaces and zipped right on over to her Etsy shop to order it.

It arrived the other day. It was so beautifully presented:

I saw the button card first – isn’t it lovely? And I love, love vintage buttons. Next was the necklace, wrapped in a hankie embroidered with a ‘C’, tied up with a beautiful ribbon and a pendant. What a beautiful way to present the necklace!

The back of the button card was signed by Jodie and the necklace came in this pouch.

Ah….there is the beautiful necklace! I love it, Jodie. In fact, I wore it that day, although I don’t think it was shown to its best advantage with the old sweatshirt I had on.

I used to be the kind of person who threw some wrapping paper on something and impatiently taped it together. Blogging has changed that. I am much more aware of creative presentation now. Oh, and I am getting the jewelry making bug. I haven’t really tried anything yet, but I think it would be so satisfying to gather up vintage elements and create some jewelry.

Square #31 – remember this photo?

The back of Miss Scoutie’s head. Here is square #31:

Scoutie’s head with the word ‘love’ because Scout is all about love.

Have a great day.

Love square 31 and the humor you are including in your stitching. Wish I had the talent you have in just one of your pinky fingers!

I agree that both Elyse and Jodi are very talented. You are too! I love that square of the back of Scout’s head. Just darling. I hope the weather clears up for you. If it’s any consolation, it’s been a roller coaster here too. Yesterday I heard that the storm we later received whipped through Oregon and overturned 3 big semi trucks on the Interstate. Thankfully no one was injured. It’s good to stay inside and embroider.

    Love,
    Susan and Bentley

You are so right about the presentation of ETSY shops and their creative owners. Love the necklace and the packaging. I too have learned alot about presentation by being an ETSY Shop Owner and Shopper. Gosh, Claudia, your squares are so neat, and you are getting more creative with each one. Very special to have Scout in your sampler. So enjoyed this post and thanks for visiting CollectInTexas Gal….Sue

I hope your rain is over for a while. It’s been beautiful here for a couple of days, now. We’re supposed to get rain on Easter. Oh well. The necklace is gorgeous. So happy for Elise. I read her blog too! The square may be my favorite yet!

Tell me. What are you going to do with your squares when you get finished? I can’t wait to see it all together!
Scout…so sweet. I just finished reading To Kill a Mockingbird again so I could discuss it with my grandson. I remember why it is my favorite book ever.

    Howdy Claudia,

I find it very hard to package my sculpts in any kind of special way, or maybe I’m just not that inventive. I figure the sculpt already costs enough to send by itself, why add pounds of decor? Well, maybe if my stuff was smaller…….and cheaper, and prettier…..and……….LOL. I do ramble on sometimes. Scouts square is adorable, just like the back of her head. Have a great day!

    Hugs,
    Meri

    Hi Claudia!!!!

Okay…I’m totally blushing here…THANK YOU for all of your sweet words!!! Now where is the photo of YOU wearing it? ;) I’m so happy you love it!!! Thanks again :)

And as for Scout…this is just too precious! I love the photo and I was even more amazed with what you did with the square!!!! This has to be one of the cutest things I’ve EVER seen!!!! You are g-o-o-d!

(I just wish I’d have known in advance to ask you to trade the necklace for Scout! Scout and my little Oreo would be a cute couple!) tee hee!!! okay…I know it would have taken MUCH more than the necklace but I would have given it a try! haha

As for Elyse, isn’t that fabulous? It’s always so exciting to see a friend’s work in black and white for the whole world to see…congrats to her!!! Too bad I don’t have that copy to see it for myself! augh!

Claudia, thank you again…I am so honored that you have one of my pieces. I so appreciate it!!!!

Happy Easter and I hope the Bunny is good to you!!!!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
