Errands on a Monday

March 6, 2023 at 7:22 am by Claudia

We both woke up early today. Don woke up coughing, which is quite rare. Usually the one coughing is me. Much of the snow has melted. In fact the driveway is now completely clear – without any shoveling! That’s my kind of snowfall.

We’re going to head out to run some errands this morning. I have found a solution for displaying my girls. It’s inexpensive, it’s at IKEA, and eventually, I will have to move some things around. In a small house, anything new that’s added ends up being a game of dominoes. IKEA is south of us, in New Jersey, and on the wary home is a Trader Joe’s, so we’ll stop and get a few things there. Don has to go with me because we need his larger car. Mine is not the best for furniture components.

Ah…a mini adventure. We usually see IKEA from the inside of the bus that takes us to New York. It’s always fun to actually go inside and see everything that’s on display there. However, we’re going to be very efficient about our shopping. No meandering – it’s a long drive there and back.

It’s sunny at the moment but sunny doesn’t last all that long lately. Hopefully, it will hang around a bit as we set off on our drive.

Okay, my friends.

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

i like the sound of your adventure … a drive with your sweetheart to get an inexpensive solution to a problem … and you won’t have to shovel the driveway first. :)

might there also be a stop for “five guys” french fries? or to wander through an antique shop, music store or bookstore?

safe travels and i hope you find everything you need/want.

also hope there’s no more coughing, but plenty of continued sunshine!

thankfully i feel energetic (been lacking that for a while) so am going to get an earlier start on a long to-do list. that will feel good.

    happy, safe monday to everyone!

oops … pressed “print” too soon. meant to also say what a pretty view of your sweet mhc … the colors carried from room to room, the light, the comfy furniture, seeing some personal interests/hobbies/collections, those beautiful portraits of your pups (well done, shanna!) … i love the way you and don have made yourselves a home!

          hej, shanna. :)

thanks, but i think it’s more my love of animals and art … and that you combined them beautifully!

how long have you been painting and what type(s) of paint do you prefer? whatever, you are very talented!

i love to paint … watercolors, sometimes acrylics. getting into water-soluble colored pencils and stabilo woodies … more like sketching, can be used wet or dry and lots of fun. art (looking at it, reading about it, doing my own little thing with painting/ sketching) is all very freeing to me!

hope you and fred are having a good start to your week. stay well and safe!

          with hugs and prayers,
          kathy

We didn’t have time for any other stops other than Trader Joe’s. IKEA is neat, but it exhausts me! I don’t do well in big stores with harsh lights. And I was dehydrated, as was Don. But we got what we needed in both places and drove home – which takes over an hour.

      Stay safe, Kathy.

In a fat, I drove by your IKEA on a bus to New York a few years ago. :-) Ours in St. Gallen is only 20 minutes away. All the best with moving furniture. Regula

Yes, if you’re taking the bus to the city you pass by that IKEA

I wish we had one closer to us.

      Stay safe, Regula.

Drive carefully, people are crazy drivers, always in a rush to get somewhere, while managing their social media on their PHONES!

Always fun to be had at Ikea! And quite a workout, as I remember. My favorites were always the small stuff—knives and brushes, and bags, and cookies. Have fun!

The piano photo is so great, the red lampshade with the red smokestacks on the ship. I love walking through IKEA for inspiration. I was just reading that they are expanding into South America this year.

For what it’s worth, I have woken up coughing the past couple mornings. Since I haven’t been outside much the past couple days, I think it’s the indoor dryness. It goes away within a couple hours. Hope you enjoyed your day.

I often wake up coughing. But we run a humidifier at night. Both of us have sinus problems, so I think it’s due to that.

      Stay safe, Lynda.

A visit to IKEA is always exciting. Having lunch there is even better or perhaps a coffee and cinnamon roll? Even their 75 cent hotdog tastes pretty good if you have a craving. Gosh, I must be hungry. Can’t wait to see what you found to showcase the girls. Glad you didn’t have to shovel the snow. Love how your little lamp is spreading a spotlight on your beautiful piano. Stay safe. Hugs, Elaine

No cinnamon roll – I don’t do sugar!

We did have a veggie hot dog and ate it on the go.

      Stay safe, Elaine.

I love IKEA and could use a trip there — I’m trying to find a small shelf unit about 29 inches wide with two or three shelves. So far, nothing is calling me — and with IKEA, you never know! I love the marketplace section and their picture frames.

Your room looks lovely. Just lovely. So glad you had a good melt!

Alas, our IKEA is two and a half hours away, over the hill and through the snow. A true adventure at this time of year! (That’s probably what the Donner Party thought too.) For now, the grocery store and feed store are my risk-your-life excursions.

I’m happy to live vicariously till conditions improve.

    Stay safe out there!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
