Fabric Easter Eggs & Squares 20 & 21

March 20, 2010 at 5:17 pm by Claudia

Time for my fabric eggs to show their faces…I gathered them up today and placed them in the wrought iron thingy. Then I looped a little organdy ribbon through it. For those of you new to the blog, I was whipping these up last year at this time when I spent 6 months in San Diego. My friend Ingrid let me borrow her Featherweight and I was sewing up a storm. It is fun to see them again with their cheery colors.

I’m not sure what to put in the bottom basket of the wrought iron thingy…still pondering that one. Any ideas?

Today might be the last of our days of glorious weather for a bit. It is supposed to be cloudy and cooler tomorrow with rain moving in on Monday and Tuesday. I can’t complain: I’ve been able to accomplish some clean-up in the yard, take the dogs on some much-needed walks, sit on my glider on the porch and feel the sun on my face. It has been so beautiful that I’ve had to force myself to read scripts and prep.

Don is thoroughly exhausted and is taking it easy today. Lee is stable. He did open his eyes for several minutes yesterday.

Squares 20 and 21:

A wheelbarrow filled with flowers for planting.

A robin’s egg surrounded by…well, I’m not sure. It is either a ribbon or a vine. I just like the look of it! Some of you have asked what I am going to do with this when it is all finished. I’m leaning toward framing it. I really love how it is turning out; it’s full of my favorite things.

I’m caught up on the squares through Sunday – see you Monday!

We’ve enjoyed a few days of Spring like weather but I know it won’t last..just too early to get attached to it.

Drop by for my PiNk Saturday post..I’ve got *to die for* dress forms and tea lights to *sigh* over. :0)

    Hugs,

For the bottom, put scrunched up raffia. I love the beautiful fabric eggs. I work in a quilt shop, I wish we had the pattern for these!

    Hey girlfriend,

Those eggs are adorable, maybe you could put some shredded newspaper, or thin scrapbook paper in the bottom of the basket thingy. Your squares are looking really good Claudia, you should be proud. I’m still sending thoughts and prayers for your father-in-law and both you and your husband. My mom has had a stent put in, but thankfully it was before she had a heart attack. My dad had one, too, but unfortunately he passesd away three years ago from lung cancer. Don needs to really look out for himself, as caretakers tend to overlook that aspect and end up with weakend emotional and immune systems and then catch everything flying around at the time. Best wishes to all, think positive!

The eggs are too charming, Claudia! I am drooling over your fabulous tiered basket! I have been looking for one exactly like yours for ages!

Hmmm what to put on the bottom? Ah the pressure of a suggestion! ha! How about Easter blooms (faux or real) they would set off the beautiful egges you created. You could even add a little bunny or two peeking through the blooms.

I am anxious to see your finished embroidery! I love all the different squares you’ve shown us! It’s going to be so beautiful!

    Have a lovely weekend!

    Cheers!

Cute cute little fabric eggs! How about using light organza fabric scrunched underneath? Or lacey fabric? Colored burlap to resemble grass????

This is why I’m an antiquer. Not so good at crafts!!! LOL.

    Hi Claudia,
Dang girl, those eggs are cute as can be! And the pretty fabric eggs against the rusty iron container is so sweet. I’m not sure you really need anything in the bottom but if so, maybe a bird
nest or some shredded music note paper. Just a thought.

How neat Claudia! I’ve never seen fabric eggs…how do you do them? are they filled with pillow stuffing? I like Sissie’s idea of the shredded music paper, (she’s so creative that girl:)
We are enjoying beautiful first day of spring weather here as well and I am loving life!

Sweet greetings from Frog Hollow Farm! Those eggs are marvelous, I’ve never seen anything like them. I’m trying to think of what you could put in the bottom of the basket, maybe long strands of green tissue paper or a nest of white sparlkey tulle? Sound a little nutty?
Your needlework is just wondeful, love that cute little robin’s egg -how precious!

Continued best wishes for Lee, Ciao, Bella!

And for the bottom basket… well… I’m thinking you might need to make more fabric eggs. :-)

    Hi Claudia,

Great hearing that Lee is stable. Still sending well wishes his way.

Your “wrought iron thingy” is fabulous and with the little fabric eggs – so bright and cheery! What to put @ the bottom of the W.I.Thingy… paper grasses (I saw some wonderful cottagey-green paper grass at the grocery last week) or crepe paper or dried spanish moss? Oh – you’ll figure something pretty out!!!
    Have a Happy Day,
    Zuzu

Claudia, I am just loving your eggs!! Simple easter grass would be sweet in the bottom or green moss would be fun too. :) Your weather sounds like ours exactly. I am heading out side right now to just sit and enjoy the sun.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
