A shortish post today.
Don took this photo from our bedroom window this morning:
Gosh darn it, this burning bush is amazing at this time of year.
Me taking a picture of Don taking a picture.
This will be our last unseasonably warm day and tomorrow will bring a 30 degree plunge into much colder temperatures. I actually had the a/c on for a bit yesterday afternoon,
I’ve been feeling a wee bit under the weather so I’m low energy this morning. Plus, I haven’t had my second cup of coffee.
October is the time for groundhogs to start hibernating.
Our guy who lives under the shed hasn’t read the memo. I’ve saw him chomping on the grass yesterday.
Well, he does have a few days before the end of the month.
I wonder where all the kids have ended up? I kind of miss those little rascals.
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.

lovely colors in your views. hope you can see the groundhogs soon, too.
leaves on the october maple in my parents’ front yard have been changing from green to outlined in red and we were looking forward to seeing them fully red, but sadly that won’t happen this year. as of yesterday, most of the leaves are on the ground due to a lot of wind and a 25-degree drop in the temperature overnight (woke up to 40 degrees and i love that … just not the early leaf drop). the swamp oak in their backyard is finally turning gold and brown and it generally holds at least half its leaves all winter. a couple years ago, my landlord had to remove the big tree out front (sad). the small tree in its place hasn’t grown much yet, but i’m glad my landlord cares, brought in that tree and didn’t leave the lawn bare. i love trees.
hope you have an easy day and feel better soon! stay safe.

It’s supposed to get chilly here in Illinois next week. My phone says we might have snow on Halloween!
Stay safe and warm, Claudia!
Claudia says
Yike! Hopefully no snow yet!
Stay safe, Ellen.

I’m glad we went leaf peeping last week, because like Kathy said, that 25 mile per hour wind took most leaves off the trees yesterday. It is cold this morning…sweater weather is here…yay. But, I’m sad that the last of my blooms are either going or gone.
Hope you feel better. Yesterday was low energy for me. But I have a small project to try, while watching college football. Wondering if you or anyone has used ketchup to shine brass, and if it works?
Enjoy your day! ;)
Claudia says
I’ve never heard of using ketchup to shine brass. Did you try it, Donna?
Stay safe.
Donnamae says
I had heard about it, and there are videos. But, while it did clean it a bit, it wasn’t as good as using a brass cleaner. But it sure smells a lot better! Ah well….on to the next diversion! ;)
Claudia says
Oh yes, those brass cleaners smell awful!

October is the time for us to start hibernating, too. :) :) :) I hope you take it really easy if you’re feeling under the weather.
Claudia says
I’m feeling better now. Big changes in barometric pressure and temperature often plays havoc with my sinuses and I feel ill for a day or two.
Stay safe, Jenny.
Elaine in Toronto says
Have a “do nothing” day, Claudia. Well, do nothing unless you want to do it, lol. Take care. Enjoy the cooler weather. Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
Thanks so much, Elaine.
Stay safe.

That burning bush is stellar! Such beautiful, intense color. I don’t think I’ve ever actually seen one before. It’s just gorgeous! I’m looking forward to a little hibernation weather. I have lots of sewing to do, a couple of afghans I need to finish up, an afghan to start (this one is for us), and a couple stacks of reading I would like to polish off. I do enjoy a nice hibernation. Now I’m off to learn a bit about burning bushes. Lay you money I can’t grow them out here; bet they need a snap of really cold weather to do well. There are tradeoffs everywhere. My best to you and your beloved, What have you got planned for the winter?
Claudia says
Nothing planned. We’d both like to have work – that’s our wish.
Stay safe, Elizabeth.

dear Claudia/Don — your pics are great — my favorite ‘burning bush’ is on the way into ‘town’ and it is a large hedge surrounding a radio station parking lot — so beautiful right now, like your bush. hope y’all can enjoy some quiet time together this weekend. stay safe/healthy
Claudia says
Thanks so much, Linda.
Stay safe.
Denise says
I hope you feel better soon.
It’s supposed to be Spring here but we’re expecting snow tomorrow! I’m ready for some warmth.
Claudia says
I don’t blame you! Enough winter!
Stay safe, Denise.

Your weather sounds like ours. Today will be sunny (40, tops) but then rain and maybe snow (not much…. but a reminder.)
I’m glad I got a good walk in on Sunday. Yesterday I got my Covid shot and today I’m dealing with a 101.2 fever, chills, headache and the obligatory sore arm. Not worried; that happened before but it made for bad sleep last night so I’m laying low.
Your burning bush is a stunner!
Claudia says
Feel better soon, Jeanie. I’m sorry you have to deal with a reaction to the shot.
Stay safe.
