Fall: It’s Time for the Flannel Pajamas Club

September 20, 2012 at 8:45 am by Claudia

Suddenly it’s Fall around here. The night before last, the east coast was pummeled by rain. Big storms, lots of rain, lots of wind.  And leaves were falling everywhere. They’d already secretly turned from green to gold but since they were hidden high up in the trees, we were fooled into thinking a bit of summer was still here.

Time to look up.

Ah, there they are. Still a lot of green up there, but that won’t be for long.

Ahem. Time for an official announcement:

This morning I have my flannel pajamas top on. Not the bottoms – I’m still wearing my summer pajama bottoms. But if the top is in evidence, can the whole thing be far behind? You know that I’m reluctant to say goodbye to summer, but oh, how I love my flannel pajamas. And that means that it is almost time for our club to begin meeting once again. Oh heck, it is time.

Membership is free. There are some rules, however.

  • • You must love wearing your flannel pajamas.
  • • Simply loving them isn’t enough. You have to find any excuse to wear them.
  • • Possible excuses: “But I need to clean the house.” “My writing suffers if I’m not comfortable.” “It’s 3:00 pm.” ” It gets dark early.” “I just came home from work and I have to change my clothes, so why waste another outfit? I’ll just go straight to my pajamas.”
  • • More excuses: “If I must cook, then I have to wear my flannel pjs.” “But I’m drinking hot chocolate.“
  • • That’s all. Simple.

Feel free to use the button. As the official Flannel Pajamas Ambassador, I feel compelled to spread the word, to extol the pleasures of soft, warm flannel. I pledge to educate my readers as we move into fall and winter as to the many things that can be executed successfully, nay, even more successfully, in flannel pajamas. I promise to keep you informed. And yes, I have driven the car while wearing my flannel pajamas.

Will you join me?

Happy Thursday.

I don’t have any flannel sleep wear. Remember I moved here from Texas, where it was a bit hot. Have to get me some!

Good morning Claudia – I don’t own flannel pjs – I would burn up in them!! Your weather is alot cooler than ours, but even in the winter, I can’t wear flannel. Nice thought tho.

I’m IN!! Much to my hubby’s dismay they are part of my winter house uniform. Perfect – yes, for housework, cooking, crocheting on the couch, watching TV, blogging. Yes, I’d like to become a card-carrying member! Where do I sign? :)

I could use some flannel pajamas right now. I have goosebumps but refusing to change out of my shorts. Still clinging to summer! LOL!

Charlotte, I run hot when I’m sleeping – husband runs cold – so I don’t wear the flannel PJs to bed and flannel sheets make me too warm. Isn’t that crazy?

Can’t wear Flannel here most of the year, here in TX. We may get a cold day or two in Dec and then some in Jan and Feb, so if I’m lucky and your club is still in session, I can join you.

I’ve even wore my flannel pjs to get some milk at the neighbour’s. I think he likes my flannel pjs too. ;-)

I am all about the flannel jammies, and three o’clock is my official time to put them on if I am home for the day. (on stay at home days they are worn all day long then I change into a fresh pair to sleep in) I do wear them in winter to my friends house around the corner because I will have on boots and a coat. Well, lets be honest, I have worn them over while still in flip flops. :) Happy Fall!!!

Makes me want to start a blog so I could have the badge and join the club. I love flannel pj’s! I even have one pair that is so nicely worn that I can wear them on the occasional summer day when the AC was set too low and it is too cold when I go to bed. I think I’ll even buy a new pair for this winter. Oh, hurray!

I broke out the flannels yesterday too, but in reverse: flannel bottoms with a t-shirt top. Black background with very loud multi-colored polka dots. I can’t tell you how much I love them. I even leave the windows open just so I’ll have to wear them. The near-tornado in NY the other night took out a lot of our leaves, so we probably won’t have a colorful fall, but at least I’ll have my polka dots.

Oh, Claudia! Não posso negar o conforto de um pijama de flanela, mas onde moro, a primavera está começando, e até durante o inverno, as temperaturas foram muito altas. O que fazer?

I’m grabbing that button! This is one club I am proud to join…and I know it will be FUN! It’s one of my favorite things about the time changing….which I actually dread! lol I like to finish dinner, take an early bath and put on my pj s! I have several pair and even posted myself WEARING one pair! I know that should give me special membership! heehee! But I’m like you….I put on a lightweight gown to sleep in. I can’t sleep in pj s no matter how cold it is! I’m excited about this club! Great idea!

HAH! I’m way ahead of you, Claudia. I’ve been wearing my flannel night dresses for over two weeks, now. The nights here in N.E. have just been so chilly, and because I refuse to shut the windows just yet (love the fresh air!) I had no choice but to start wearing warmer night clothes. But I do love wearing flannel PJ bottoms around the house during the day (usually with an old t-shirt) when I’m writing, reading, cleaning or just watching a movie. They are SO comfy!

I love my flannel pj’s. Can I join the club if I don’t have an excuse for wearing them? I don’t need an excuse, lol, I practically live in them. I have been known to turn the ac to the lowest setting to make the bedroom cold, so I can wear them when it would otherwise be too hot. I don’t wear sweats, don’t like the fleecy things, just give me my flannel pj’s, and a cozy quilt, and I am a happy camper.

I have to laugh! It’s still in the 90s here in central California, but last night I couldn’t stand it any more. I pulled out my flannel pajamas (er…just the bottoms) and a t-shirt and I slept wonderfully! It won’t be true flannel pajama season here until November. And I have to ask – do you ever see the Nick and Nora flannels from Target? They are my absolute favorites!!! Please count me in as a charter member of the Flannel Pajamas Club.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
