This old church hymn board is one of my favorite things. We bought it several years ago and it hangs right next to our piano. I love the simple lines of this piece. We used to put favorite photos where the hymn numbers were originally inserted, but we have come to like it without any extra adornment. It truly is one of my favorite things.

Speaking of favorite things, my painting from Fifi has been framed and is now hanging on the wall in our upstairs bathroom. The green wall color seemed to be the perfect background for it, don’t you think? Thank you, Fifi. We love it.

Still working on taxes…cleaned the oven, cleaned the refrigerator. Unfortunately the heating coil in the oven is still smoking…I think some oil from the pesto got on it and try as I might, it doesn’t seem to be coming off. Any suggestions? Perhaps a new heating coil is in our future.

Oh that is so sweet to have that hymn board hanging by your piano. I am sure it looked nice with photos but as you say it looks perfect without anything in it. Nice lines and simplicity are wonderful. Have a nice evening.

my suggestion is don’t cook your pesto on the heating coil. [guffaw] what a drag but we all love pesto around here too, even my picky-eater boys!

your favorites are great and the fifi painting really pops against the green wall.

a little something is on its way to you. tee hee

Claudia ~ I remember hymn boards like yours in the church we went to in Oklahoma when I was younger. How lucky you are to have one!

I guess I am going to have to break down and purchase one, as I have so loved her work every since I started reading her blog. Isn’t she special? Thanks so much for sharing Claudia. I so love to see your smiling face at my blog. It always makes me smile. I love those blue glasses too. I am due for new glasses and haven’t decided what I want this year. Talk to you soon. Hey Claudia.
Why don’t we make some of those hymn boards?
I have never seen anything like it.
Maybe instead of a row of little ‘holders’ we could just do one along the bottom to hold old music sheets.

Hmmm. I think i even have some old cupboard doors we could use tom make similar.

    what do you think??

blessings and hope you get those taxes done soon.

Claudia, your hymn board is so beautiful. It looks right at home next to the piano and I like it to without any extra adornment . . . why cover up a good thing?!

Fifi’s painting is gorgeous all framed up and hanging . . . what a wonderful keepsake.

As far as your oven coil . . . did you try cleaning it with a little hot water and Comet (or Ajax)? Comet is the only thing I’ve found that will remove oil/grease spatters. Hope that helps!

    Hugs,
    Teresa

Wow! A hymn board! How wonderful. I’ve only seen those hanging in churches…well actually come to think of if the ones I’ve seen say “attendance and offerings”…that is so fabulous. Thank you for sharing. Our son has gone away to the university. I posted about it the posting before yesterday.

Claudia, I absolutely LOVE your vintage hymn board… I totally see why it’s earned status as one of your favorite pieces… What a great painting from Fifi, and it looks beautiful on the green wall! Ugh… You just reminded me that I need to get started on my Q3 taxes… Donna

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
