Flowers and Egg Cups

April 2, 2025 at 8:09 am by Claudia

Well, look what appeared next to the porch! The beautiful little grape hyacinths. Spring is definitely here. These little beauties popped up one year and they’ve been returning ever since.

Congratulations to the state of Wisconsin! You did it and you showed Mr. Moneybags that you are the boss, not him. Such great news!

And Corey Booker? A hero. We watched a lot of his filibuster and I can’t remember seeing anything more powerful on the floor of the Senate. Thank you, Senator Booker.

We needed some good news, didn’t we?

On the left, a little scottie dog egg cup. I lucked out on this one. I rarely, if ever, see it on eBay. Great condition.

Two wooden egg cups – the girl in the center is from Italy, made by Sevi. There are several egg cups in this series and if you’re lucky, you can find one with the original knit cap which functions as an egg cozy. This girl was a gift from a reader of the blog.

On the right, a wooden sailor. Don (and Scout) found this little guy in an antique shop and gave it to me for my birthday. Made in Japan.

I love my egg cups.

I miss my Scout.

I think it’s going to be partly cloudy today, but right now, the sun is shining.

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

I was so glad to hear the news from Wisconsin. The local Democrats won in my city for City Council and school board so that’s good news too!

We were so thrilled that our state came out yesterday and voted for democracy! It brought my friends and I to tears…especially after last November. It proved to me that all hope is not lost…there is more to do, but it’s a start. It can be done!

It’s a rainy day here…stormy later, and cold. Good day to huddle inside, and that’s just what I plan to do. Enjoy your day! ;)

Good morning Claudia. My favorite spring surprise one year were grape hyacinths. They are so delicate looking. The picture you took has so many textures. Beautiful. The scottie dog is just adorable. Have a lovely day!

We sure went to bed happy last night. Even our ruby red county turned blue for Susan Crawford! Unbelievable!! Yesterday I noticed the idiot in the next block had taken his Trump flag down. It has flown in front of his house since 2016. I don’t have hope he’s changed because he did have a Brad Schimel campaign sign in his yard.

Wanting to watch the returns in real time, Dean turned on CNN. I don’t watch that anymore but kept my mouth shut. That is until a panel featured our old gov, Scotty Walker. After lots of “in my day” talk from him I commented none of the CNN people brought up the horribly gerrymandered maps the courts later called totally unfair and biased in favor of Republicans The maps that propelled him into power. Now that we have a majority of sane people on the Supreme Court, those maps are going to be dealt with.

It is raining like crazy here today and the grass is turning green. It rained and blew so hard all night I can’t see out most of the windows this morning. Hopefully we’ll soon have some lovely hyacinths like yours and crocuses too.

    Take care,
    Kay

Oh, Scott Walker. How I despised him!

Enjoy the rain. We’ve had a lot of lately. with more to come tomorrow.

      Stay safe, Kay. Congratulations!

I was surprised how many more counties turned blue compared to when
Janet P. was elected. Walker would say that…and bad on CNN. We don’t watch that anymore either. Such great news yesterday!

Keep the faith! Enjoy your day! ;)

Those red turned blue counties have to keep it up for mid-terms, Donnamae!

        Thanks.

I was so happy about WS that I cried! Thank You, WS and Corey Booker, I see a little light through the cracks.

Thank you, for showing more of your egg cups. Delightful is the word I use for them.
Grape hyacinths are one of my favorites, some day mine will appear, too. I have always like the way “hyacinth” is spelled.

I am relieved your car is okay and the problem was solved.

Cory Booker is a true American hero . He would make a good president. And good news from Wisconsin. Maybe some day. Loved your grape hyacinths. We had a blizzard here today. Everything is covered with snow. Does Mother Nature not know it’s spring? Hugs, Elaine

I LOVE Wisconsin! I cherish my college days there. I knew they would pull through! Some good news finally! And Cory Booker, what else can be said. Such an authentic, decent man, unlike the orange clown in the White House. Now tonight we will have to see what he did with the tariffs today. I’m afraid to watch. Of course it will cost us more money, even though we are struggling already. He is such a mean, evil man! Love you are seeing some green!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
