For The Rain It Raineth Every Day

July 26, 2018 at 8:34 am by Claudia

Shakespeare. Twelfth Night.

He understood.

It’s dark and gloomy here.

Cue someone who has been begging for rain now complaining about too much rain.

And that someone is me.

We are on our 5th or 6th day in a row of torrential rain. It isn’t raining all of the time, but when it does rain, it comes down hard. It’s also unbearably humid.

Don can’t go outside and use his camera. I can’t work in the gardens. I’m going a bit stir-crazy. So is Don. This will last through tomorrow and there’s more on the docket for next week. As you might expect, we have flood watches all around the Hudson Valley.

We haven’t been able to sit in the Secret Garden since last Saturday.

Waaah!

Okay, I’ll stop complaining.

The rudbeckia is in bloom everywhere and thank goodness for it! Those splashes of yellow are so needed on these dark days. It’s such a cheery flower!

We’re going to do something this afternoon. I’m not sure what, but we definitely need a distraction. If it’s at all interesting, I’ll take pictures.

I know this is short, but that’s truly all I have for you today. Nothing Is Happening.

Happy Thursday.

it’s good to let things out!

i feel the same way about day after day after day of high heat (and for me, that’s anything over 80 degrees … a high of 70 would be even better), humidity and glaring sunlight. not enough to move to the rainy pacific northwest and certainly not wanting it flood-level, but i do love cloudy, rainy days and sweater weather!

trust you will find something fun to do today. :) happy thursday!

I’ve seen photos from England. Way too hot and dry and for too long. I’m thinking of you!

In June/July, I was in Southern Europe, Spain, France and Italy, where one expects hot. Then i got to England. London was hot. Cornwall, where i expected to find relief with cooler temps and occasional rain was hot. Bath was hot.

Siobhan, stay hydrated and being light clothing and a hat! Have fun. I’m missing England a lot.

You have rain and humidity and we have sun, heat and no rain. Also forest fires, but none near me yet, and no smoke. Yet. I’m near Seattle. So I am going to be very careful what I wish for. Maybe wish for the heat to be spread more evenly so you will lose that humidity, and we get lower temps. But if we get lower temps that means we are getting a marine push from the ocean and that means more winds through the Cascades and that means more very hot and dry windy weather in eastern Washington, and that means it is more dangerous and difficult to fight the fires. So damned if I get my wish and damned if I don’t. I have running around to do today and helping someone with their housework, so no rest. It just sounds good to sit and read. We don’t have AC and it will be 90º or above for the next four days. But I do have a small AC for the kitchen. I guess I’ll live. But not comfortably! LOL

I know. There are such extremes all over the country. The fires are very worrisome.

I just wish we had some ‘normal!’

Too much of a good thing is always bad! We have had so much rain this summer but are experiencing a few sunny days right now. The claims adjuster was here to look at the dinged up car this morning so we should be getting it fixed fairly soon. I’m having a Grammie/Scout day tomorrow…can’t wait!

No rain forecast for at least two weeks here. The temps have been mild and blue sunny skies. I wish you could export a little of your rain to us! I usually love rainy days, drinking a hot drink and reading a book. But days and days of relentless rain brings on cabin fever. Hope you and Don find a fun outing to interrupt the current wet ordeal.

It just seems that everything (and I do mean everything) is now in extremes. Too much heat, too much humidity, too little rain, too much rain, and on and on. I guess there no longer is a normal to be found ~ anywhere or in anything.

Hope you find a wonderful distraction this afternoon, and your lenses don’t fog. Now there is a new wish for you!!

Wow, y’all are getting slammed with rain in the Valley. We had good amounts of rain Tuesday, Tuesday night & at intervals yesterday but evidently, nothing like you folks. Just plenty to refresh everything up here which really needed it – we were beginning to see the yellow, droughty crispy lawns etc. There were in-ground sprinklers where I used to live & I miss them. They ran on a schedule at night – and even though they usually sprinkled my car liberally too – I loved it that we always had plush thick beautiful grass all Summer. Sounds like you’ve had more than enough to refresh everything too, so Mother Nature can take a break and save some water for another week or so. Spread it around, Mom! In the meantime, it’s a great opportunity to catch up on “inside things.” Even though none of us want to be inside during the Summer – we have to do enough of that in the Winter. Peace. 🌿

We got so much rain! The ground is thoroughly soaked, so it will be a couple of days until I can mow. Today – so far – it’s sunny. Fingers crossed we are done with the rain!

The weather has been awful. The humility is unbearable. All the rain is causing havoc in some places. I heard that Hershey Park had to be closed yesterday because of flooding.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
