Forecast: Snow

February 8, 2013 at 9:58 am by Claudia

reflection

It’s already snowing here. Very lightly. The heaviest snowfall is supposed to come tonight as it increases to a couple of inches an hour. I haven’t checked the forecast yet today but as of last night, we were due for 10 -16 inches. I’ve decided that I can either worry about the whole thing or sit back, enjoy the day, make sure Scout has a path shoveled to the corral and then, when it’s all over, shovel a bit at a time. I’m going with the second option.

I don’t have to be anywhere. I have enough food. I have lots of projects to work on.

It is what it is.

So, I’m sipping coffee in my blogging chair, waking up slowly. Scout is having some sort of dream as she sleeps on the sofa. My dad has already called 3  7 times this morning. They’ve given him new medication. He’s groggy but sounds better than he did at this time yesterday morning. I’m not sure when he’ll be able to go home, but it doesn’t look as if it will be today.  He’s on an IV for pain, is getting oxygen and is taking blood thinners. Meredith and her husband are flying up to see their son Dave at Ohio State this weekend, so I will be checking in on Dad frequently.

Schools are closed. There’s very little traffic outside on our normally busy road. I hope that means that everyone is heeding the warning to stay home and stay off the roads.

By the way, I subscribe to my own blog to check on potential Feedburner issues – I didn’t get my email delivery today. Is anyone else having trouble with this?

I hope your Friday is less eventful than ours promises to be!

    Claudia,
I like your option…no stress..no hurry. It has been a long time since I was able to sit and enjoy a “snow day”. I live near Atlanta…we had one about 2 years ago. I can honestly say that I miss them, so take a deep breath and enjoy the beauty for me! I am remembering the silence that comes with a snowfall. It is magic!

Claudia, I love your picture today! You must be so happy with your new camera. As long as you have nowhere to have to be, I think you are wise to sit back and enjoy the day. Find beauty where you can in the amazing nature show outside your windows, and don’t think about the shoveling part until you have to! Take good care, my friend. xxoo, Martha (ps…had to laugh at your bedroom tv…we have the exact same tv in our basement! We’ve had it forever and it still works– it is simply too good to throw away)

I live in Western Massachusetts and all I keep thinking is please, please don’t let the power go out.
We were without power for 5 days a year ago October during that freak snowstorm. It. was. hell.
I can get cozy, read, sew, etc. and stay indoors for a week if I had to as the pantry is well stocked.
But to be without power is just the worst – fingers crossed everybody…….

Guess we are going to miss the big snowstorm being out here in Utah. But today, the snow is falling, the skies are grey and promises of lots of powder for those who love such stuff. Me? Curled up in the lodge and catching up with others. Your day sounds like a perfect way to embrace a snowstorm!

Well, “this too will pass” as an aunt of mine is fond of saying. We were socked one Feb a couple years ago. Took three days to dig out our driveway to get the car out of the garage. We survived. Kind of surreal at the time though. Will keep a good thought!

    Hi Claudia
Posts from bloggers that I follow appear on my draft page. You are always the first to show up each day but there had been nothing from you for 3 days so decided to check and was delighted to find you have been posting. Obviously the gremlins are at work again.
Even though I seldom comment I enjoy your daily posts. Envying you your snow (but not the work it involves) as we are expecting 38 Celsius here today. Snuggle up with Scout and stay warm.
    Hugs Alveen

Tried to find a link to your shop ? Saw in one of your other posts some projects you are doing on your dolls house. I am trying to make a decision to scale down my miniatures, as I have not put much time into them in some time now.
Stay warm, safe , and have a great weekend.

We are snowed in here Claudia but it will be 44F. on Monday. I don’t know why but for the past 3 days your blog post do not show up on my sidebar under my favourite blogs. I checked and you are still listed so I don’t know what is going on.

I hope your dad is home soon and all goes well with your sisters visit. At least being snowed in you can get all the little things done you don’t find time for when you have to leave the house.

    Have a nice weekend,
    Sue

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
