Second – and I fear, last – morning glory.
It makes me so sad; we have a freeze warning tonight. The low will be around 30 or 31 degrees. There’s no way I can cover this vine to protect the leaves and buds. All my outdoor plants will die – just for one night of freezing weather. Though it will remain cold for a few days after tonight, it won’t freeze and next week will be warmer.
The catalpa leaves will fall, as well.
I’ll bring the porch plants inside for the night, because they’re beautiful and full and I can protect them. But I can’t bring the morning glory inside.
Maybe this little guy will open today. There are so many buds on this morning glory, something I haven’t seen for years, and they’ll die overnight.
It’s very frustrating.
This will be short as I’m not feeling well today. Some good news: the technician came and said that the leak is repairable. He has to order a part and will be back in a couple of weeks to install it. I can keep using the washer and wiping up the excess water, as I’ve been doing, in the meantime. Hang in there, washer. And the same to our over 20 year old refrigerator.
Stay safe.
Happy Wednesday.

it is sad to lose outdoor plants for one night of freezing temperatures, especially when overnight lows warm up again! glad you found another bloom, can help the porch plants. hopefully that neat bud will open today and give you another bloom, too.
especially glad for you to get good news about the washer … hooray!
hope you feel better soon.
chilly here (love it), but will reach the upper 70s in the week ahead. no outdoor plants blooming now, but we see many more birds at the feeder and water … must be travelers. also a very bossy earl in the tray feeder for long stretches at a time to stock up and he’s not been sharing with burl (baby earl). after many minutes of waiting and several scared-looking attempts by burl, a little tap on the window from us seems to help.
not counting the natural kind in a bit of fruit, and what happens with carbs (more than a bit of them), i am on day nine of no sugar. hoping, praying that this sticks!
best i get going to other things.
hope you, don and everyone else have a great day. stay safe.

That bloom never opened, unfortunately. It probably would have opened tomorrow.
Lots of birds at the birdbath and on the ground eating. I think they were migrating.
Good luck with no sugar!
Stay safe.

We had a freeze warning last night…it was 26 degrees down here in the marsh. My big beautiful pots of coleus are gone, however, my mixed pots of geraniums out front are perfectly fine . And, my plants on our 2nd story deck have survived as well. Go figure. Good luck with your morning glory!
Good news on the washer…let’s have a rousing cheer for 20 year old appliances. Mine are getting up there, too. Hope you feel better. Enjoy your day! ;)
Claudia says
My geraniums generally hang on when all the other plants have suffered from freezes.
Stay safe, Donnamae.

So sad your Morning Glory vine was such a late bloomer this year. At least you’ll still have your porch flowers. I can’t believe it’s mid-October already! Where is the time going?
Feel better,
Kay
Claudia says
I sowed the seeds a bit late because of my injured hand. Ah well.
Stay safe, Kay.
Elaine in Toronto says
Feel better, Claudia. Is it possible to toss a blanket over the morning glories? Hope the flowers make it through the night. Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
No. They’re much higher than the fence line and anything I put there would crush the plant and the blooms.
Thanks, Elaine.

Hope you’re feeling better soon.
I am nowhere near cleaning up my gardens and am dreading the freeze. Trying to stay positive looking at my pics of the comet, the beautiful big full moon last night and the aurora borealis.
I think a rabbit is living under our porch! He/she is awful cute. The ring camera on the porch has gotten some pics of it looking right at the camera!
Glad your washer is an easy fix!
Claudia says
Oh, how wonderful! You get to see the little rabbit!
Stay safe, Betsy.
