Because it’s Friday at the end of a long week: Pippa in her new crocs.
I can’t get over this pair of crocs. Oh my goodness!
They were made by my favorite “cobbler” Cora Huang. I have shoes and boots from other makers and I love them. However, when I first purchased Sophie and was wondering where I could get shoes and boots, and was completely new to the Blythe community, I stumbled upon Cora. In a truly international doll/clothing/shoes world, Cora, much to my delight, lives in Connecticut. It’s nice to order something that won’t take weeks to get here. But the best part is her craftsmanship. Her shoes are beautifully made.
I’d say the majority of the shoes the girls wear are Cora’s.
I have one more new pair that I’ll share when I actually put them on one of the girls. They remind me of back-to-school shoes. I always got one new pair of shoes in the fall, invariably brown. As I got older, they were invariably brown penny loafers. Do you remember Bass Weejuns?
Now ask me when I last bought new shoes… Answer: last year. A new pair of Birkenstocks. Ask me when I last bought any new clothes…Answer: last fall when I had to order long underwear and heavy socks for cold location shoots on Spoiler Alert. I don’t much care about clothes these days. I’m happy with a new t-shirt. Maybe one new sweater in the winter. But I don’t have a lifestyle that requires being fashion conscious. I used to love it. Now I find it exhausting.
Technically, the girls don’t need any new clothes or shoes, but much of the fun in collecting these girls lies in dressing them up.
Today I coach Jim for a bit in the early afternoon and then we’ll go vote.
Yesterday, on my one day off from coaching this week, I cleaned, watered plants outdoors – all sorts of little things that needed to be done.
Very satisfying.
To close, I marvel at Lucy’s strength! She’s been holding her arm up to give the peace sign for two weeks now. How does she do it?
I certainly couldn’t do it.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.
Tana says
Thank God for Lucy!! We need more like her. I also do love the crocs. We’ve got the hot, muggy weather which is awful. Boy, could I vent about this summer weather, but best to just keep moving forward and try to ignore it. Autumn is my favorite season, so it’s almost here!
Claudia says
This summer has been the worst! Every day, I got outside, look at the gardens and the dying flowers and want to cry.
Stay safe, Tana.
kathy in iowa says
feel the same way here … lots of things more important to me than clothes … but your blythe outfits are cute.
hooray for voting, peace signs and more time to do what you want.
need to get going … overslept again, but it will be a good day.
happy friday! stay safe!
kathy
Claudia says
Thanks, Kathy.
Have a good day.
Stay safe.
Trudy Mintun says
I would live in jeans and Tshirts if I could. We can only wear jeans on Fridays so for now I have a closet full of temporary clothes. But, lots of Birkenstocks! A must have.
The girls get cuter everytime you show them. I love that they are so posable.
Enjoy the rest of summer and know it will come again.
Claudia says
It will. And I hope it’s a better summer next year.
Stay safe, Trudy.
Donnamae says
I do remember Bass Weejuns! Wonder if they still make them or a similar shoe? I guess I will have to check that out!
Gotta love those crocs. Enjoy your day! ;)
Claudia says
I don’t know, but they were very comfortable!
Stay safe, Donnamae.
Donnamae says
Yes they were. They still do have a couple, but they do not resemble what I remember. Nothing stays the same! ;)
Claudia says
No, darn it!
Shanna says
I also remember Bass Weejuns, but mostly from ads in Seventeen magazine. I’m older than you and they were never my style, which was more baby doll dresses and ballet flats or heels. Of course, being a bit older, we had to wear dresses to school. Pants weren’t allowed. We had to endure vice principals who were obsessed with skirt length!
Claudia says
Oh, we had to wear dresses and skirts, too. In my senior year, we had a trial ‘no dress code.’ Only for a few months.
Stay safe, Shanna.
Trudy Mintun says
In my sophomore year of high school we all walked out. We sat on the school grounds and refused to go back in until they allowed us to wear pants. We eventually won, but it took a couple of days.
Claudia says
Now, anything goes!
Stay safe, Trudy.
Shanna says
Hahaha! Our form of protest back in ’66 was to be so peeved at the rules governing skirt length, that a whole lot of us wore long dresses one day. Granny Dresses, we called them—lace, high collars, long sleeves, skirts to the floor—really kind of fantastic! Sent us all home to change at lunch, the pukes!
Deb in Phoenix says
Another pair of shoes which are simply adorable! I use to love shopping for clothes but not anymore. It is a chore! Sitting here trying to decide what to get done today. Need to clean but I also want to read more of my book. We had an event yesterday. Someone stole our Amazon order! Gracie barks when the Amazon truck comes, so I knew we were getting a delivery. In the short time it took me to answer the door, our packages were gone! Nothing expensive but the weird thing is our Ring did not record anybody, which it should have. Don’t know how that happened. So, know the porch pirates are out there. They follow the Amazon trucks. What is this world coming to?!
Take care!
Olivia says
Deb did you check the tracking on the Amazon to make sure it was delivered? Amazon also delivers things that are small to my mailbox. Today I have some odd size batteries coming I ordered on Amazon and USPS in delivering them to my mailbox.
Deb Johnson says
I actually saw the 2 packages by our front door through our Ring. I went to go get them, and in that short amount of time, they were gone. Definitely stolen.
Claudia says
Oh no! I’m so sorry! Why do people do that?
Can you get the order replaced?
Stay safe, Deb.
Deborah Johnson says
Actually yes, Amazon said they will send replacements.
Claudia says
Oh good!
jeanie says
The girls are looking cute! I hope your preferred candidates win. I’m not big on wardrobe, which is probably a good thing! Like you, I haven’t had to worry about it for years!
Claudia says
It’s freeing.
Stay safe, Jeanie.
Barrie says
Those Crocs are a work of art! It’s nice to see quality work! I used to love shopping for clothes, but since retiring I really don’t need to dress like I used to…and the quality in clothes has seemed to have gone downhill with a lot of things. When I was very young I had to wear white saddle shoes…hated them…but I couldn’t wait to get older to get a pair of penny loafers!
Claudia says
I bet most of us had to wear saddle shoes. I sure did!
Stay safe, Barrie.
Sherry B says
Oh Bass Weejuns! When I was in high school there was a local mens and women’s department store , Boyd’s in downtown St Louis. every August they had a sale where Weejun loafers were $12. I took the bus with my babysitting money to grab a pair that lasted all year. Every fall had a basic loafer and a “stylish” pair. My favorite of all time had a tiny brass acorn attached to the top of the shoe. Vamp? I don’t remember what that is called. As I grow older I only know I like what I like and pay little to no attention to fashion.
Claudia says
Me either! And I’m a ‘just the basics’ person.
Stay safe, Sherry.
Vicki says
Oh, the dolls are just darling today, Claudia; the craftsmanship on the clothes and shoes is just amazing; what fun.
Claudia says
Thank you, Vicki.
Stay safe.
Suezk says
Bass Weejuns oh what a memory. I loved them
Claudia says
They were pretty cool!
Stay safe, Sue.
Kay+Nickel says
I love those crocs! The doll clothes are amazing. It definitely would be more fun to dress them than me. Some days I feel like I should throw everything out and start over. However dressing a “mature” woman is not easy. Not only am I a bit plump I just can’t see myself in most clothes I see. So like you I am a jeans and t-shirt kind of person.
Sorry if I am behind. When I am traveling I lose tract of time and forget to check your blog.
Claudia says
I find it impossible to find clothes. Everything is too young for me – even though those designs are what I’m attracted to, they look ridiculous on me!
Stay safe.
