Well.
Nothing new. We’re both sick. Tomorrow will mark 3 weeks for me, and 2 weeks for Don. Whatever this is, it’s completely debilitating. I can’t remember feeling this crappy for this long. And – in my case – it also attacked my intestines early on. So there’s that. I think the antibiotic has helped – today was my last dose as it’s one of those 5-day long prescriptions, which makes it extra intense. I’m taking probiotics to counterbalance the side effects.
I’m feeling better by bits. This has left both of us feeling exhausted much of the time.
It’s hard to stay positive.
I’ve heard from a few people that they had much the same kind of thing and it lasted at least 3 weeks, if not more.
Our driveway is snow-covered as neither of us has the energy to shovel.
Don says he feels worse today. That’s the way this thing is, you feel like you might be turning a corner and then pow! You’re back where you started. I’m drinking tons of water and keeping hydrated, as is Don.
Anyway, there’s your update. I’m losing ad income because I’m not posting, but what can you do?
In spite of everything, Don managed to surprise me on Valentine’s Day:
He snuck them upstairs the day before V-Day (into the office) and I had no idea they were there. In fact, I had no idea it was Valentine’s Day. Aren’t they lovely?
Bless him.
This whole thing feels like we’ve been sent to some remote outpost where we have no idea what day it is or when we’ll feel better!
Tomorrow marks my 11th blogiversary. How can that be?
Happy Saturday.
Linda @ A La Carte says
I look every day hoping for a “I’m feeling better’ message but alas, none to be seen. Take care this seems like a very nasty bug. The roses are so pretty and such a sweet thing for Don to do, but then he is such a great guy isn’t he. Rest, fluids and all the best. Sending hugs.
Claudia says
Very nasty bug. The nastiest I can remember. Thanks, Linda.
Shanna says
Oh, this thing has really knocked you both for a loop! Be Gone Bad Bug!! (Wish I could get that to work for politics, too!) That Don! What a miracle worker—flowers when he’s sick!
! ! ! !
Claudia says
He’s pretty special!
Tana says
The roses are beautiful. You two keep resting and keeping hydrated. We have had snow for over a week. Now we can walk on it without if falling in! Oh, I started reading “Past Tense” last night. You turned us on to Lee Child’s Jack Reacher and we have read them all. Thanks for the tip! Feel better soon!
Claudia says
Thank you, Tana.
Wendy T says
The yellow roses are beautiful. Don loves you, Claudia! So much!
Yellow roses were the first flowers I ever gave my boyfriend (to become my husband). He never received flowers before and was tickled. It was for Valentine’s Day also, too long ago….
Feel better, please. I hate to think that you are both miserable.
Claudia says
We are both miserable. But we’re hanging in there.
jeanie says
Sounds so grim but do hang in~! Misery is just the worst…
Claudia says
It is grim. I’m so tired of it.

I made sure to click on the sponsored ad link even though I’m long past the IUD necessity. I figure every little click on an ad might help a wee bit. Take care of yourselves and feel better soon. Post when you feel up to it. We will be here for you to read and enjoy your posts when they come.
Claudia says
You don’t have to click on anything. Just visiting the blog generates income.
Chris K in Wisconsin says
It sounds like really wicked stuff. Did they say it was actual “flu”?
Did you get much snow the other day? We have more coming tomorrow and Wed and I can’t even imagine where they are going to go with it. Intersections are rather scary when you can’t see anything around corners. I am sending positive thoughts your way so you both start to feel better and then keep on!! Take care.
Claudia says
No one knows. It feels like a kind of flu.
We got quite a bit of snow and more is on the way tomorrow night. Too much for us right now.
Mary Bond says
Hi,
My husband and I are in a similar boat but it is not contagious and I will try to get my local Walmart to fill a cart with what we need here. So we just need to pick it up. Lovely flowers!
I do not know how to ads work on blog sites. I clicked on Dinnerly but they require cooking. Also, we live in the boonies and it is hard to get things delivered.
You are very bright but I still encourage you to reach out to local services and friends. To heal you need good food as well as rest.
Claudia says
You don’t have to do anything. All you have to do is visit the blog. That’s it.
Don has been cooking. We’re fine.

So sorry that you are still sick. I had this last year. I was told many moons ago, by my family doctor, get some sun. So, catch some sun when you can. When you fill better sit in the sun, do not sweat, He would tell me to let the children out in the fresh air and not to dress them too warmly.
I sat in the sun a week after I came home from the hospital and I started to perk up. Love the sun. I need to catch some rays.
Hope you feel better soon.
Claudia says
Too cold out to catch the sun, unfortunately! Thanks, Rose.
Carol O'Connell says
Oh my! I certainly hope you both feel better soon! Being sick certainly makes you appreciate your healthy days. Take care and get more rest!
Claudia says
Thank you, Carol!
Caroline says
The flowers are absolutely beautiful! I love yellow roses. Your husband is special. I was hoping to read you were well, or at least truly on the mend. Sorry to hear you’re still ill.
I also have a selfish reason, I, too, have been sick for two weeks now. I kept dithering about going to the drs, but could not muster the strength to go fearing she’d just say it was viral and there was nothing to be done that I wasn’t already doing. Sigh. Glad you’re posting some time. Hope you feel better each day.
Claudia says
I’m so sorry to hear you’re battling this, as well. Take care of yourself. And give it time (I guess we have no choice in the matter, right?)
Judy Clark says
Happy Blogging Anniversary! Hope you are both feeling better soon. Tried calling you to check up on you but just got your answering machine. Figured you didn’t feel like talking. Hope you are both better soon.
Love,
Judy
Claudia says
For the past 3 weeks I’ve been unable to talk for more than a sentence without coughing! So we haven’t been answering the phone. Thank you for checking in my friend.
kathy in iowa says
sorry that you and don are sick at all, let alone being very sick and for so long … praying you both feel better soon!
hope you are stocked up with groceries, household supplies, books, oil … and that the predicted snow and ice pass you by.
kathy in iowa
Claudia says
Oil is supposed to be delivered today, but of course, we’ve had more snow and it’s now covering the driveway. Thanks, Kathy.
Donnamae says
What a nice surprise from Don. He’s a keeper! I was thinking you might have the flu….what else would hang in that long?
We’ve had snow, and more snow coming….really sick of it. Hope you can knock this thing out of your system soon….I’m sure you’re sick of it. Take care! ;)
Claudia says
I’m am sick of snow and illness. And February has been full of both. Thanks, Donnamae!
Lorie says
Here in Michigan this winter seems to be getting us all down. I wish I could have a magic wand for you both. The combination if snow and sick is really very trying on a person! 33 more days til spring and hopefully far less until you are both well!! Thank you so much for the dedication to your blog! In your lowest moment you are still spread cheer! Hoping you both feel better soon!
Claudia says
Thank you so much for your kind words, Lorie!
Lily says
I’m very sorry you and Don are feeling so bad and for so long now. I hope you both make a speedy recovery! Health is everything.
I’m envisioning spring for all of us as I stare out the window at the foot of snow around my house. It is pretty, but winter has just been too much for a lot of us. My husband is trying to make a dent in the shoveling. I can’t help him as I’m disabled and in a wheelchair. I worry about him hurting himself and just want to hire someone to clear our front walk and driveway. But he is stubborn and perseveres.
Take care,
Lily
Claudia says
It’s frustrating when you are unable to help. My husband was out there shoveling when he shouldn’t have been. But I couldn’t stop him. I understand, Lily.
Dottie Shafer says
Hope you two turn the corner on this Bad Bug very soon! I have it now, started Thursday, so am coughing and blowing my nose constantly! Can’t sleep. Yuk! Be well dear Claudia and Don.
Claudia says
Take care of yourself, Dottie. xo
Susie Stevens says

Love the beautiful yellow roses!…I can’t believe that what ever you two have is hanging on so long..I have a sore throat and headache and just a general miserable feeling!
Claudia says
It’s been unreal. I can’t wait to kick it to the curb!
