From Our Walk and Clothes for Sophie

September 12, 2021 at 9:54 am by Claudia

From our walk yesterday:

These huge boulders were completely covered by water a week ago. It’s extraordinary how high the river was.

The mountains as seen from the side of the road.

I received some packages in the mail yesterday and it was truly an international event.

Some tights from Emma Florence Paris (yes! from Paris):

And these boots from Northfield Primitives, based in Yorkshire, England:

I can’t believe how adorable they are. The seller also sent along some purple socks.

And, from St. Petersburg in Russia:

This dress, pinafore/jumper, and yellow socks – from Lena Little Dresses. Two outfits in one. The dress can be worn alone or layered with the pinafore. Sophie is going to don a new outfit later today, whether she likes it or not. By the way, Sophie has her own IG account, mostly because I didn’t want to spam my regular account with doll photos as not everyone gets them. It’s @Sophieandherpals. That’s as creative as I could be yesterday. The implication is that Sophie might be living with a pal soon. Stay tuned. I think it will be fun to pose her and experiment with photographing her. As Don says, and I quote, “She’s very  photogenic!”

It was pretty neat getting a package from Russia. First time for that. This particular shop makes wonderful Blythe clothes and, considering the distance, the package got here very quickly. It came in a lovely box.

Sophie already has more clothes than I do. Cripes, I’m merely hoping to replace my worn out, baggy jeans this week. That’s all I ask.

Today: deductions. We took a very long walk yesterday and then I did some chores and by the time I was thinking of starting that process, I was too tired. I’ve been waking up way too early lately and it’s taking its toll.

Stay safe.

Happy Sunday.

I have no idea why the little shoes get to me, but they do! I can’t even imagine trying to make them.

I’m amazed by how many Blythe customizers are in Russia. I haven’t seen a single one in the US. The clothes are all adorable, and those boots!
I read a knitting blog (Yarn Harlot) who always seems to have a sock in progress. She used to post pictures of her current sock on the needles in various places on her travels, sometimes even having someone she encountered holding her sock. I haven’t seen her post her traveling sock for quite a while. Life and covid put a stop to traveling much. Anyway, it was just a fun, silly thing. I think you could have fun taking Sophie around NY and posting pics…in a book store, or the subway, etc. Might be a little embarassing to carry her around though. I do agree, she is going to need a pal before long. I will be following on IG.
    Stay safe

There are some in the U.S. and in England, Spain, Israel, Scandinavia, Germany and France. But there are a lot in Russia.

Yes, I used to read Yarn Harlot when I was a knitter, but I was never into knitting enough to keep reading the blog.

I probably wouldn’t carry Sophie around – only if I could sneak a picture of her in the park, or something.

      Thanks, Marilyn.

Looking forward to Sophie & her pals events. Could be human as well as animal?
Thanks for update on water level since I actually was wondering if it was still dangerous.
Hot & humid in SD continuing, unusually so. Had a very pleasant family reunion with most of the cousins on my mother’s side and a wedding. Unfortunately such a short one, couldn’t even cram in a visit to the Globe.
    Have a wonderful one today.
    XO

Remember the days when it was rarely humid in San Diego? I’m glad I lived there when I did and not now.

      Stay safe, Martha.

Love the clothing and shoes for Sophie. I definitely spend more money on my doll’s clothing than on my own. Lol! I also often buy clothing from Artisans in Russia for my dolls. I often wonder whether the postman is suspicious of me. I followed Sofie on Instagram with my doll account. I look forward to seeing your doll photography!

Thanks for the update on the river…I was wondering about that, it was unseasonably hot and humid yesterday…just miserable. And it just started to rain here…we still desperately need rain!

I am looking forward to watching Sophie’s adventures, and meeting her sister? What a fun diversion. Enjoy your day! ;)

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
