I call this “Still Life of Plants, Cow, and Ukelele.”
When it warms up in the late morning, I’ll move everything back outside. So far, there are no frost advisories for tonight. In the next several days, the lows at night won’t be nearly so cold.
There are two more large plants in the den and one of the planters is sitting on the stool in front of the egg cup cubby.
There’s not that much room around here to begin with!
Don felt very achy and flue-y last night and is still feeling it a bit this morning. That’s the reaction he gets to the covid vaccination. I’m fine now, save for the usual allergy/sinus crap, but that has nothing to do with the shot. My arm is still a wee bit tender, but much better on the whole.
I spent some quality time with two of the girls yesterday when I changed a couple of their eye chips. Maeve had one set of chips that were what I would call ‘fantasy chips’ and I never showed them because I didn’t like them at all. And Sophie’s blue eye chips that I installed a month or so ago were too intense in color, so I replaced them. Sometimes, eye chips are very difficult to remove; that might be because the maker used a certain kind of glue, I’m not sure. Maeve’s fantasy chips were a pain in the tush to remove and it took me over 2 hours and several tries to get them out.
Here are my brown-eyed girls:
Maeve has the slightly lighter shade of brown eyes. Sophie’s are darker. I think they look very good in brown. I’d love to replace one more set of chips on Maeve because she has three sets of blue chips and I think a redhead needs some green eyes. But I don’t have any on hand.
These were made by AmaFlickerDolls, who lives in Ukraine.
I’m enjoying these little tweaks to the two girls that started this collection. They have neck joints now and some new eye colors. I just need to trim Maeve’s bangs a bit and they should be good to go.
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

Me too!
Thank you, Linda.

It was so exciting to hear Jim Parsons call your name this morning on CBS This Morning. When he was asked about how he learned the Irish accent for his play, he gave you rave reviews! I expect your phone will be ringing!

It’s nice that you are able to change out the girl’s eyes if you so choose. You have options with your newfound skills.
I also caught the Jim Parsons interview this morning on CBS. It was nice to hear you getting credit for your role as a coach for Jim. My husband is hoping you will get more coaching jobs as a result…me too.
Happy to hear you saved your flowers for another few days. I have two pots that contain sweet alyssum out front, that are not sheltered, and are still alive. Quite frankly, I don’t know how, since all other plants have succumbed to the freeze. It’s going to be warm this weekend, so I plan to clean out my pots…and rake leaves. Ugh.
Hope Don feels better…rest up…and enjoy your day! ;)
Claudia says
My sweet alyssum is still hanging in there and it was in the pots with the coleus (which died.)
I’m so surprised that I was mentioned. It has sure made my day!
Stay safe, Donnamae.
Linda MacKean says
I love brown eyed girls! You are doing such a great job making these changes with your dolls. I got my flu shot and I’m a little puny but will be better soon I know. Big Hugs!
Claudia says
Flu shots are next week! Oh boy.
Stay safe, Linda.

I was so excited to hear Jim Parson say your name and what you did! It is remarkable to be so happy to hear a friend’s name whom you only know through cyberspace. Do you know what I mean?
Take Care,
Kaye
Claudia says
I do. And all of you have written to tell me about it are part of the reason I keep writing this blog. We are an extended family.
Thank you so much for your kind words, Kaye.
Stay safe.

I’m watching CBS now…if I missed the segment on Jim Parsons I’ll check the website! That was so nice to mention you!
I really like the new brown eyes on Maeve and Sophie.
Hope you and Don continue to feel better…

It’s on the website and on YouTube, Barrie.
Thanks so much.

You are famous! Just saw Jim Parsons talk about you. He seems like a very nice guy, so you two probably get along great together. Poor Don, those boosters can do that. We still have to get ours. We have been a little busy with not so fun things. Now we have a whole half of our garage filled with my in-laws stuff to go through. I would much rather be doing something fun. Always love the girls….and yes, redheads have green eyes (I know) Take care!
Claudia says
Jim is a wonderful guy and I’ve know him since we auditioned him for the graduate acting program in San Diego. He’s one of the best people I know.
Stay safe, Deb.
Linda in Ky says
dear Claudia/Don — sorry to hear about Don’s vaccine reaction — hoping recovery is quick and complete. I believe that Jim Parsons is a good soul, glad he could give credit where it was due. pls stay safe/healthy
Claudia says
He is. He’s true blue.
Stay safe, Linda.
Brendab says
As you know I don’t watch television exc Hulu or Netflix…I don’t know who Jim parsons is except you mentioned him. I will look up this though …congrats…your plants are lasting a long time.in Ohio and Indy. we were lucky to get them through September West Virginia about the first week of October…
Claudia says
He was in The Big Bang Theory on CBS for 13 years. It was and is a huge hit. He was my student in grad school. My friend Rick and I auditioned him for he program and accepted him because he was so talented. I’ve known him for 23 years. He is also the star of the movie I coached. And the star of the play I’m coaching now. He is a very good man.
My plants last a long time because I bring them in if there is going to a brief period of frost. I really take care of them.
Brendab says
I haven’t seen that show…I do know you mentioned him when you were coaching. A movie and a play…imagine…we all have those special students.
Janice Smith says
I, too, was watching the CBS Morning Show and heard Jim Parsons speak about you. How awesome!!!

It was a great surprise.
