Good News and More Egg Cups

gloveboxes

A pretty picture for this snowy Wednesday morning. And why not?

Much shoveling yesterday, but made so much easier by the presence of two of us! The snow was heavy and wet. Such a strange day; while we were shoveling, it was sleeting, then raining, then snowing, as if Mother Nature couldn’t quite make up her mind what she wanted falling from the skies.

I rewarded myself with a nice hot cup of hot chocolate.

We’ve had some good news here at the cottage. Don has been cast in an episode of American Experience for PBS. This episode, tentatively titled Murder by Poison, is based on the bestselling book, The Poisoner’s Handbook. It’s a fascinating book that tells the story of two men, Charles Norris (the chief medical examiner of NYC) and Alexander Gettler (a toxicologist) who, in the early twentieth century when murder by poison was the perfect crime and corruption in the coroner’s office was a fact of life, “set the justice system on fire with their trailblazing detective work, triumphing over seemingly unbeatable odds to become the pioneers of forensic chemistry and the gatekeepers of justice.” (From the publishers’s blurb on Amazon.)

Don is playing Charles Norris. And he looks a great deal like him. He’s growing his goatee as we speak. Whoops, Don tells me it’s a Van Dyke.

He’s filming in Prague.

Prague!

Oh my goodness! I’m so thrilled for him. (Can I somehow miniaturize myself so that I can hide in his suitcase? I’d love to see Prague.) He leaves on Easter and is there for about 9 days or so.

Isn’t that exciting news?

Don goes to Prague. I go to Hartford (but not until he gets back). Hmmm. What’s wrong with this picture?

eggcups3

Chicks and ducks and geese better scurry…..

Today’s egg cups:

On the left: a duck holding up an egg and looking a wee bit tired.

Center: One of my favorites (but then again, I have many favorites) a chicken eating seed and a duck who is peeking? hiding? holding up the egg? Whatever, it’s adorable.

Right: A rather elegant goose pulling an egg cart.

Happy Wednesday.

    Hi Claudia:
How wonderful for Don! I agree though. Doesn’t seem quite right that you’ll be left behind while he heads off on his great adventure. Perhaps the weather will let off for you so that you can spend your days creating instead of shoveling.

I will certainly watch out for the PBS episode.
Hope the weather lets up there for you. We’re expecting some cold on Friday…after a week long of mild and pleasant temps, it is supposed to drop significantly here.
I think it is safe to say, that Punxsutawney Phil may have gotten it all wrong this year. What do rodents know about weather anyway, right?!
The little egg cups are adorable and colorful…you have a sweet collection.

How fabulous! Things seem to be picking up again in the theatre/filming world. They started shooting two movies in towns near us on Vancouver Island (Godzilla and another movie in the Planet of the Apes) when in the past few years there has been almost nothing feeding the film industry workers here. Things are looking up. Tell Don to take lots of pictures that you could maybe share with us?? Cheers – ps I posted a picture of a flower on my blog today with you in mind – I was thinking about you shovelling. Hopefully that won’t have to happen again this year.

Many congrats to Don..I had wondered where I had seen him before and then realized when you mentioned him being on episodes of “Law And Order” as we have always watched them faithfully..I will look forward to seeing his talented work on PBS as the story sounds so very interesting..And Dustin Hoffman directing!! This has to be a winner! I can’t wait to see what he brings you from Prague Claudia!! Thanks again for sharing your egg cups..They are precious..

Nancy – Dustin Hoffman isn’t directing Don – that was referring to Quartet – the movie the commenter had seen. That was directed by Dustin Hoffman. I’ll have to clarify that in my comment. I’m not sure who’s directing Don!

Sorry I misunderstood..I’m sure Don will give a great performance no matter who directs..He has such an expressive face! And the fact that he looks so much like the character makes it even more interesting!

Oh Claudia – what exciting news! It sounds like such a neat story – going to read the book. So sorry you CAN”T hide in Don’s luggage and go with him to Prague. Congratulations to Don and definitely let us all know when it airs on PBS.
Your egg cups are so cute – never knew there were such wonderful ones – of course I’m a sucker for anything with creatures on it.
It’s trying to be springish here – hope it will be soon for you too!

I’m so happy for both of you! More acting jobs coming Don’s way! Too bad you can’t go but who knows, maybe some traveling to some cool diestinations for both of you in your future? Be sue to let us all know when PBS will be airing it. I love a good mystery.

Oh wish so much you could accompany Don – Prague in Spring (well hopefully it will warm up) will be so beautiful! Know you won’t leave sweet Scout though.
Congrats. to him – this sounds like an awesome part – will be waiting with baited breath for it to air later. Wondering how Prague became the locale for an ‘American Experience’ but what the heck, it should be more fun than filming in somewhere such as Hollywood!!!!!!

So happy for your leading man!!!!!
    Hugs – Mary
P.S. Now those are really three cute egg cups!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
