Grieving

March 24, 2025 at 8:21 am by Claudia

I’ve spent the weekend mourning my dear friend Jan. So many memories. I had a long conversation with Joe yesterday. He cried and cried. Bless him, he took care of everything from the moment Jan called him on Christmas Eve to let him know she was in the ER. Everything. And he’ll do even more this week. He’s exhausted, he’s not sleeping well. I wish I could wrap my arms around him right now.

The weather here is a bit colder than it’s been and it looks like it will be that way throughout this week. March is always a crap shoot. I haven’t opened the blinds yet, but I can hear the sound of tires on wet pavement, so I guess it’s raining again.

The blog crap continues. I tried a newer theme temporarily, wondering if maybe that might be the problem. Nope. Still couldn’t leave a comment. The database is definitely a problem and hopefully the security company will be able to fix that in the next few days. That’s all I can do for now. Making a decision on the future of the blog depends on many factors, most of which are concerned with its viability.

For those of you who are leaving comments via email, thank you! I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your taking the time to connect with me. I miss the comments as much as you do. So thank you, thank you.

It actually doesn’t take any longer to send me an email by clicking on that envelope icon than it does to leave a comment on the blog. I’ve timed it.

Don has been great. He patiently listens to me when I need to vent or talk about the latest about the blog. It’s been such a hard time lately and, thankfully, he understands.

I’m really looking forward to getting outside in the next week or so and starting to clean up after a long winter. So is Don. I think we’ll feel better when we can lose ourselves in those chores and feel like we’re accomplishing something – anything.

The other day in the midst of high winds, we saw a hawk land on one of the lower branches of the maple tree right outside our den. The evening sun was setting and his feathers had a gorgeous golden glow. Truly stunning. A moment of beauty that we sorely needed.

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

    Hi Claudia!
I saw a comment posted on the blog…. thought I’d try and see if anything flew…!
I hope you can get out soon too…. but the spring rain is so appreciated here…. we have been radically too dry for the last six months at least. The other day while sitting in my sheltered garden nook… it was breezy elsewhere, I spotted a bald eagle circling overhead! It was magnificent and the sun on the white feathers was “splendorous”… I can think of no other word.
We grab the pleasure when it comes and are so grateful.
    I hope this posts!

I think it might be working again. I’m crossing my fingers that whatever my security company did resolved the problem.

      And yes, this DID post!

      Thanks, Betsy.

      Stay safe.

Hello Claudia, I use a Kindle Fire to post and couldn’t see the symbol to email you so that’s why I haven’t been in contact lately.
Very sorry to read the sad news about your friend Jan, it must have been a comfort for her knowing that Joe had been there for her and for her to hear from you.

Take care and fingers crossed that other folk can now start to reply on site!

      Thank you, Dee Dee.

By the way, blogs appear differently on phones and mobile devices. In my case, you have to scroll down past the posts to reach the sidebar. That’s where you’ll find the envelope icon.

      Stay safe.

Fingers crossed the IT people fixed the problem! I have not been online for a while because honestly the news every single day is just causing me too much stress. This week, I decided 15 minutes of angst and then stop.
I am so sorry about the loss of your friend. Thinking of her husband, Joe, and all the people who loved Jan.
    Take care.

Joe isn’t Jan’s husband, Betsy. Joe and Jan are best friends and each other’s chosen family.

      Thank you so much.

      Stay safe.

Lovely word picture of the hawk, and your PJs look comfortable! We’re having the chilly damp type of spring day, not enough rain to really help the plants but enough to make it uncomfortable outside. Tomorrow is supposed to be nicer, we can hope.

Thanks for persevering with the blog!

I’m so very sorry that jan passed away. Grief is different for everyone, and different with each death. I really feel for you. And I’m glad jan’s suffering is over, and she’s in heaven. Be good to yourself Claudia.

It’s so hard losing a friend💔 It seems like this past year I’ve had so many friends and family members pass, or face horrible health conditions. I guess it’s my age … I just know I’ve never dealt with so many sad situations in such a short amount of time.

Prayers for you and your friend, Joe.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
