Hair Cuts & Body Changes

July 2, 2023 at 9:14 am by Claudia

I mowed the corral and the back forty yesterday, with sunglasses and a mask on. Nevertheless, my eyes are irritated this morning. Thankfully, the air quality is back to normal as of today. So, you’d think I could run outside and do lots of stuff today, but no, it’s raining again and will storm this afternoon.

Ah well.

I trimmed Nina’s hair yesterday. It was just too long – all the way to the ground and then some. I’d been thinking about it for a while.

Then, for the 100th time, I had problems standing her up in the cabinet. The Obitsu 22 body I’d given her when she arrived here is very lightweight, so the heaviness of her hair – even with two inches taken off – would tilt her forward and I didn’t want her falling from the top shelf.  I decided to switch her back to her Obitsu 24 body (the one she came with.) It’s 2 centimeters taller and seems to be a bit heavier.

And little Olivia, the last of the girls still in a Licca body (I do not like them) got an OB 22 body and joints and she can now tilt her head!

First official head tilt.

You look great, Livvy!

I may change out some eye chips out today. The surgery is open all weekend long.

I sort of miss Olivia being the tiniest of the girls, but darn it, she deserves a head tilt and body flexibility!

Except for some minor eye surgery, today will be reading day. I have to catch up on War and Peace, as well as read a chunk of Babel, which is getting very interesting.

Stay safe.

Happy Sunday.

you have many talents (nina and olivia look great)!

and irritated eyes and more rain … sorry to hear that. hope you feel better soon.

also hope don was pleased with the gig last night, that all went well and he gets more work from it.

glad you are enjoying the books.

quiet start here, time with members of my family and then grocery/supply shopping. among other things, will again get ingredients for a super-simple potato salad and a bean salad (they don’t last long) … they are well-liked around here.

    happy, safe sunday to everyone!

The gig involved a long trip. Don is going to limit how far he drives for a gig. Otherwise, it’s exhausting. But it went well.

      Stay safe, Kathy.

Laughing about the “minor eye surgery” on your schedule. The girls as always look great in their summery dresses.

That was quite a bit of hair trimmed from Nina! And Olivia’s neck is feeling much better, I bet! I’m going to read a lot today, too….

A rainy day is a perfect day to read. Nina’s hair looks prettier a little shorter. And Olivia is cute as a button. Sweet little summer dresses and very cute shoes. I just love it when you post pictures of your girls. Hugs, Elaine

Oh thank you, Elaine. I’ve been enjoying them this weekend – cutting hair, changing out bodies, and changing eye colors.

      Stay safe.

I’ve picked up on this before, Claudia: You’re really good with putting things together; constructing things. These dolls, the doll houses, the a/c unit; other stuff like furniture you’ve mentioned on the blog from time to time, what’s around the house, etc. I can’t do anything like that; my husband can, but it’s the same thing with me when I’ve tried to cook and put together a meal with several parts to it; or when, in the old days, I’d try to lay out a pattern piece on fabric to try to sew; I don’t have the visualization or whatever the thing is one needs … is it some kind of ‘spacial’ (I don’t think I even know what that means) characteristic/talent? I’ve wondered if it’s why I did really well at algebra in high school but nearly flunked out of geometry. I can’t ‘see’ a finished product in the right way. Like, as a toddler, I wonder if I had problems putting blocks in a frame or something. Not being able to figure out what would ‘fit’ where. Oh well.

Bravo, though; your girls look lovely!

Wow, we’ve just spent a few hours online trying to get me set up for the Real ID on the driver’s license situation. My d/l, the cars, everything seems to be coming up all at once this summer in terms of expiration/renewals. I’m dreading going into that local DMV for the eye test although I was at the ‘eye doc’ this past Weds and my vision hasn’t changed despite the cataracts and extreme nearsightedness and some other conditions; I just don’t want my eyes to blur from dryness or conversely too many liquid-y tears and then not be able to read what I’m supposed to read for the test; I recall going thru this fifteen years ago and I struggled with that eye test; so, I’m apprehensive. At least I don’t have to do the written test this time ’round.

But I realized when trying to find supporting residency paperwork for the motor vehicle department that too many of our accounts, even the utilities, are in my husband’s name and not mine, as if my own identity over time has disappeared, so that’s something I’m gonna remedy, somehow, posthaste, because I worked hard for a lot of years in my younger (single) life to establish identity and my own credit history.

What I also realized after I tried to find a lot of paperwork today is that I’m going to stop for a week on other types of clutter and downsizing because before I do one more thing, I’ve got to get on top of backlogged ‘paperwork’. What IS IT in today’s world, especially with so much stuff online, that we can STILL get buried by paper? I know for me, I have to also stop printing off too much stuff I see online ‘to look at later when I have more time’; the paper starts piling up quickly. There’s still a lot of junk with snail mail. And of course a receipt for a lot of things we still do (tons of paper receipts, like when going to the gas station or grocery store [I know, I know; a friend uses apple-pay and says I could avoid hassles if I didn’t keep insisting on paying for stuff in cash or on a conventional ‘card’]).

Anyway, in the end, a productive Sunday afternoon, so gotta be glad for that. Hope yours was more enjoyable than mine, though, despite your rain.

Thanks for the cheery pix of the Blythes today. Sweet little girls in their sweet dresses and shoes!

You’re so right. A surprising amount of paperwork considering so much is done online. I have SO much to go through! I will have to get Real ID next time I renew my license. I avoided it last time.

      Stay safe, Vicki!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
