I have to admit, I haven’t been getting as much hand quilting done as I would like to. In fact, I’ve only had one stab at it this week. I’ve been getting home around 7:30 and, after making some dinner and tending to blog comments and emails, I have been too pooped to tackle it. My eyes get tired from following along in the script, writing tons of notes for the actors, and sitting at the computer screen.
Here’s what I’ve done so far:
I’m going to hand quilt random, interlocking, different-sized circles all over the quilt top. A simple design and that’s fine by me. I like to do something curvy when a quilt is very linear in design. The circles will also spill into the white borders on each of the blocks. I started in the center and will work my way outward. Today I will have some pockets of free time and I’m looking forward to a bit of meditative stitching. Looks like rain today.
Sob. I finished watching the last episode of House of Cards last night. It’s so, so good! Now I have to find something else to watch and, thankfully, several of you have made suggestions! I’ll have to go back and read them all. We had our last rehearsal in the rehearsal room and both run-throughs went very well. Today, La Dispute moves onstage with what is called a spacing rehearsal. The director and actors spend time adjusting to the set and the demands of the set. I’ll drop by to check on their voices in the space and offer advice as to the vocal adjustments that have to be made.
I thought I’d share a photo of Scout when she was here in the park a couple of weeks ago. Look closely and witness the hyper, slightly crazed expression on her face. She didn’t want to stay still and she definitely didn’t want me to hold her in place. She wants to get going! She makes me laugh, that little sprite. At the age of 14½, she is still up for adventure. Gosh, I miss her so much.
Maybe Don and Scout can come for a visit next week? Fingers crossed.

Hi Claudia, Scout looks like such a fun dog! Do hope you get a visit soon. Lovely quilting – really like your idea of a circular quilting pattern on something so linear. I don’t quilt, so never really thought of that, but it makes sense. Sorry I can’t be of help regarding something to watch…hope your weekend is peaceful and fun.

You sure do make it a home away from home Claudia. I had to look for a minute thinking you had changed a room in the house. Scout is such a doll I do hope you get a visit soon. How much longer are you away, (my question mark key is broken), so QUESTION MARK.
Four more weeks, Sue. Seems overwhelming, but I’m sure it will go by quickly. And I’m employed, which is a good thing.
The quilt design sounds great…but my imagination isn’t working right now, and I can’t picture it. Anxious to see pics! Scout does seem ready to flee in those pics…she’s a rascal alright! I do hope Don and Scout come for a soon, and they can bring you a piece of home so to speak! ;)

I am glad you have found a little time to start quilting, it seems like it would be relaxing. Do yo draw the circles on before you quilt or just do it freehand?
I’m drawing them from a template I have, Dawn. But I do draw them as I go with an air erasable pen.
I just love the material you chose for your quilt. I am always to tired when I get home from work to do much! Love your Scout posts!

I thought you’d get to go home on Labor Day weekend :(
Labor Day weekend is a weekend where I have to work, Debra. The theater gives us one day off a week and that is always on a Monday. So having Monday off is just the norm for me. Hopefully, Don and Scout may come for the day on Monday and maybe Tuesday.
I know you miss your pupster and your Don. I hate it when my hubby travels. We just do better together. Miss him when he is gone. Take care and have a good weekend.

I never learned to sew therefore the idea of handquilting something so big is unimaginable to me. Haven’t had a lot of time for making anything handmade lately but I did crochet lots of dishcloths on those long road trips. :) Enjoy your weekend. Tammy
