I’m going to make this quick because the server that hosts this blog keeps going down and it’s a pain in the tush. I’m sure they’re working on it, but what the heck?
I had such bad back pain last night when we were going to bed that I couldn’t stop groaning. I think it was due to back spasms. But I kept saying to Don, over and over, “I should never have driven to Rochester.”
I didn’t think I had a choice and I would have lost a chunk of my fee, so I did it. But boy, am I paying for it.
Some recent pics of the girls:
Harper, Wren, Olivia and Bertie.
While watching the events in the UK, I made another hat. Imogen kindly consented to model it.
Another way to wear the hat:
I really love crocheting this little pattern: it’s fairly simple and it’s awfully cute. I have to find more yarn in this weight because I’ve nearly exhausted my color options for this particular yarn.
Crocheting on a small project is very calming and it gives me something to do. No more big projects, thank you very much, they took a toll on my right wrist. This sort of endeavor, however, doesn’t bother me at all.
I zoom coach tomorrow and Friday.
Stay safe.
Happy Tuesday.

I totally love the hats you are crocheting! I have the scarf you made me years ago and its the softest thing. Rest that back. I had a spell yesterday and ended up on my heating pad also. Oh getting old is so fun! Hugs!
Claudia says
It is so frustrating! I need this to end so I can take care of chores in the house and outside of the house!
Stay safe, Linda.

sorry that you have pain. hope and praying you get relief and answers so you don’t have to go through that anymore. same for don’s hand.
glad you don’t have to spend hours in a car for this next job. hope the zoom work goes better this time with no glitches.
the hats look great. i can knit simple hats and scarves, wanted to learn how to crochet (to make an afghan) and my sister patiently tried to teach me many times, but i just couldn’t get it. :l
still getting up to 85 degrees or so, but enjoying cooler mornings (around 50) here. that and the light changing makes it harder to get out of bed though. trade-offs …
best i get going on stuff.
hope you all have a good day and stay safe.
kathy
Claudia says
I can knit and crochet, but I much prefer crochet.
Yes, it’s still hitting 80 here, but the mornings are cool and I can feel the changes coming.
Stay safe, Kathy.

The hats are adorable. I wish I had one!! Thank you for the doll pictures. They are delightful! I’m sorry to hear about your back. I hope it’s better very soon.
Claudia says
Thanks so much, Jenny.
Stay safe.

The hats are really cute. I think that is #4 or #5 that you’ve made? Soon they will all have one and you will have to make each girl a scarf or perhaps a crochet vest. Remember those, from the 60s?
Hope your back heals quickly.
Take care
Claudia says
I do. My mom made me one!
Stay safe, Marilyn.

When I take long drives I put a small, firm pillow behind my lower back. It helps me to not slump and put weight and pressure on my lower back. I have lumbar support in my car, but find the addditional support makes a big difference. You may already do this. I hope this helps. Sue
Claudia says
Thank you, Sue.
I did take a pillow with me. Unfortunately, it didn’t appear to make a difference.
Stay safe.

I doubt if there was any choice at all about your trips to Rochester… partly the loss of your fee, of course, but they would also have been much less likely to employ you again next time. You cannot win!
Claudia says
Maybe elsewhere, but not at this theater. The new Artistic Director also directed the play and we have a previous professional relationship from her time at Hartford Stage, where I also worked on this play. We’ve known and worked with each other for several years. So she would have understood as she knows I always show up. And if I don’t, there must be something very wrong!
Stay safe, Petra.

I like the hats. The one that looks like a French beret is my favorite. Hope your back calms down. I have had muscle spasms in my back before. I went to the urgent care. The Dr. said he could feel them ripple down my back. He prescribed some muscle relaxers and it took the pain away. I don’t like pain pills but I made an exception because the pain was so intense.
Claudia says
Thanks, Olivia.
Stay safe.

Claudia, so sorry to hear you are in such pain. Hard to be patient when you have so much you want to accomplish. I love your little Blythe dolls and the sweet names you are calling them. I’m seriously thinking of buying one. It might be my Christmas gift from Bobby, my grandmother’s little dog that passed away in 1958. He never forgets me at Christmas and gives me gifts I might buy for myself, lol. Must do some research first on the dolls. Am I correct in assuming the dolls are purchased undressed and clothes are purchased separately? Take gentle care. Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
I hope you get one!
No, the dolls usually come with some sort of outfit. If you’re buying from a customizer, they will send the doll dressed unless otherwise specified. But any sort of wardrobe beyond that is purchased separately.
I wrote a bit about the dolls in this post: https://mockingbirdhillcottage.com/blythe-information/
Stay safe, Elaine.

Sorry to hear about your back…I hope it’s settled down by now.
I love those hats…they are so stinking’ cute! And the girls are sweet to model them.
My day has been spent in the hospital…my husband had an early morning hip replacement. We had to be there by 5:30 am. He is doing well, so I finally left him so he could nap…I could use a nap, too.
Rest up today…hope you are feeling better! ;)
Claudia says
I’m happy to hear your husband is doing well, Donnamae. Does he have to stay in the hospital for a while?
Hope you get that nap!
Stay safe.
Donnamae says
He will hopefully be sent home tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Funny, but I’m not really tired anymore…so now I have to stay awake so I can sleep tonite…lol! ;)

Challenge your crocheting skills. Those flower children need vests. It will soon be chilly. Maybe a scarf or two.
Claudia says
Thanks!
Stay safe.

Pretty soon you’ll be doing a business selling Blythe hats! Cute as all get out and so are the girls!
Claudia says
Thanks, Jeanie.
