Heart Shape

Magic dog that she is, Scout was blessed with a heart-shaped spot on her left side.

She’s all heart, that girl. Boundless love and enthusiasm all wrapped up in a cute package. I posted this photo on February 22, 2008, just 5 days after I started this blog. I’ll be celebrating my 4th anniversary of blogging on February 17th.

I’m not big on celebrating Hallmark holidays. Don and I will wish each other a Happy Valentine’s Day, but the reality is that we say ‘I love you’ many times during any given day. I don’t need a card or a gift. Neither does Don. Though I wouldn’t mind a chocolate truffle!

But I do wish for you, my friends, days filled with love and everything that love encompasses: acceptance, tolerance, compassion, caring, kindness, empathy, hugs from a friend, kindness from a stranger, kisses from your sweetheart.

And maybe a chocolate or two. Or three.

  4. Well she’s certainly wearing her heart on her sleeve – but it’s the love in her eyes that shines through! Sweet girl, I can understand why you love her her so.

    Have a great day full of love around the cottage Claudia – just like every day! Yes, we don’t need to fill the coffers of commercialization on this day – simple and true is all that matters.

  9. Your Valentine’s wishes for us sums it up so perfectly. It should be about so much more than a tacky stuffed animal and expensive gifts. However, if someone gave me a sweet, real live dog with a heart on it…. okay, I know– even friends have limits! Scout is soooo adorable, and that heart is truly special!

  17. Now that is a sweetheart of a dog! They sure hold a piece of our hearts, don’t they? Our Valentine’s Days are like other gift-giving holidays, pretty low key. Husband did mention going out over the weekend to buy me something, but he has a bad cold so I insisted that he stay home and rest. He was so relieved — not sure if it was because he wanted to rest, or just didn’t want to shop! Either way, it was fine. Any day can be Valentine’s Day, it’s not like love is expressed only one day of the year.

  21. Dogs are special friends..My puppy is recovering from a broken jaw and it breaks my heart seeing him in pain, he’s my Valentine today :)

    and you are so right -love is about every day, not only the 14/2 but it can be happiness with a cosy evening and a good meal–not to forget the chocolate :-)

    Glad to hear that you don’t buy into the Hallmark holidays, either. People often think I’m a bit off because I don’t jump at the chance to go overboard with presents. Truth is, the things I want I already have and they are “things” you can’t buy anyway!
