Hello, March

March 1, 2022 at 9:29 am by Claudia

Goodbye, February! You were a true pain in the tush.

Hello, March, you changeable month. You tease us into thinking spring is here and then, suddenly, snow. Or ice. Hopefully, not ice, as we’ve had enough of that this year, thank you very much.

The first thing I heard this morning was the song of the Carolina wren coming from somewhere on the porch. I took this as a good sign.

Unlike sunny yesterday, today is a gray sky day with rain in the forecast.

I worked on this relatively simple 500 piece puzzle while waiting for my newest puzzle to arrive. It’s a charming scene from La Jolla Cove. I spent lots of time there when I was living in San Diego.

It was fun. I have another one of San Francisco (both of these were sent to us by a fellow Old Globe alum.) Do I start that or wait for my new puzzle to arrive in today’s mail?

This is what is called a quality problem.

What else? We’re watching Stranger ThingsΒ  on Netflix – a series we’ve known about but never got around to until now. I’m enjoying it. I’m still reading and loving Dead Lions, the second novel in the Slough House series. I did the grocery shopping yesterday – something Don loves to do – but needs must! I could tell he wished he was doing it instead. I mailed off some bills at the post office. I wore a mask, and even though masks are no longer required here, I saw quite a few fellow shoppers wearing them. I will continue to do so because, frankly, I don’t trust the virus not to resurface. I’m so accustomed to wearing a mask forΒ  14 – 15 hours a day that I often forget to take my mask off when I’m back in my car. It’s no big deal. And to hear whiny truckers complain about it (though I suspect all of that is about disruption rather than an honest protest) makes my blood boil, especially when we see what Ukraine is going through each and every hour of the day.

I needed some cheering up the other day, so I grabbed one of the girls and changed her outfit. Somehow, it’s quite comforting.

Pippa says hello.

Stay safe.

Happy Tuesday.

I don’t think so. But he’ll probably go see his doctor tomorrow to make sure – you never know!

      Thanks, Tana.

      Stay safe.

Well, one thing about it: My cousin who is age 60 just had the rotator-cuff surgery and she is SO much better and healing very fast, of course with wonderful physical therapy.

Your Blythe dolls look like cute little orphans who have found a great home. I’m probably seeing everything through the Ukraine war glasses at the moment.
    Stay safe.

Hi, Pippa! Fun puzzle — and yes, puzzle determination is definitely a first world problem. I’m with you on the mask wearing. You’re right about case-by-case but I’m really not at all bothered by them anymore. I can work with this!

I think I need to hit the store today. Been busy all morning editing a birthday video for a friend but I think I’m good to go! My newest book is about the Anne Frank cold case. I whipped through a new Maisie Dobbs, a Simenon, and five others in February. Weather will do that to you! Time to get out and get some air!

You read more than I did, though the books I read were quite long! 600 pages, I think.

      Stay safe, Jeanie!

dear Claudia/Don — sure hope Don is feeling better and that nothing bad happens to you. somehow, this little girl reminds me of me at least for expression (my hair was darker red, eyes were/are vivid green) but that face is mine, LOL!! so glad those little girls landed in such a loving home. that puzzle is a beauty — I like puzzles that have “hints” on the pieces, not those w/colors you have to decipher. altho, mask requirements have been forsaken here, we are still using them, as well as many other people, but even IF we were the only ones, we will continue to maskup. I sort of feel ‘nekkid’ w/out it. stay safe/healthy

I am still living my own personal mask mandate. I’m just not ready to take it off. I live in Central Massachusetts and most people in my town ( in the few times I’ve ventured out…) still are masked. Let’s think Spring! πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘πŸŒ±βš˜πŸ¦πŸ£πŸ‡

Especially people my age, I think. We tend to be careful about masks.

It is so warm here I was in a short sleeve shirt when I went to Aldi. I wear a mask still and will for awhile I think. Love that puzzle. I’m going to enjoy this nice weather because as you say it’s March and it can change on a dime. Hugs!

40 years ago La Jolla cove with one of my very favorite places to go. At that time it felt remote and secluded. I recently discovered Stranger Things, and I binged watched all the seasons. I thought the kid actors were outstanding and I’ve grown to love Winona Ryder. I sure hope Dan feels better and that your back is holding up. That mushroom dress is finished so beautifully around. The hymn with each fungi perfectly placed. People are incredibly talented. Pray for the best for your friends in the area, and of course for all the peaceful people in both countries. Stay well

I’ve been meaning to tell you…the other night my husband and I sat and listen to all of
Don’s Car Concerts. We Loved them…..the songs and his wonderful voice. We
    are looking forward to more.
Praying for Peace…..my grandparents came from Germany and Russ/Poland so this all
feels close to home. I had family in Warsaw in WWII who were never heard from again.
My Grandmother once said that Patton should have kept going right into Russia………..how
profound her words seem now..both after Stalin and now Putin.

I will pass this on to him, Lynn. He needs some cheering up right now.

I’m so sorry about the ravages of war and the way in which they impacted your family.

      Stay safe.

Yes, and good-bye to February. For such a short month, it surely was a rotten one.

Hubs went to Madison today to go to Costco and he said about 75% of people were still masked. The mandate ended today in Madison. It still seems too early for us. With his sister in the NH and an (almost) 2 year old grand who can’t be vax’d, we are still very cautious.

Hope Don gets good news if he sees the Dr tomorrow. Let us hope the ice is over for the year. Take care.

Hope for good news on Don’s shoulder. You two need to plan a trip to some place warm when he is feeling better. A weekend getaway would be relaxing!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
