Hello Robins, Welcome

April 9, 2011 at 7:14 pm by Claudia

To the First Robin
Welcome, welcome, little stranger,
Fear no harm, and fear no danger;
We are glad to see you here,
For you sing “Sweet Spring is near.”
Now the white snow melts away;
Now the flowers blossom gay:
Come dear bird and build your nest,
For we love our robin best.
Louisa May Alcott

Ah, Spring is here. Not so long ago, I kept saying to Don that when I saw the first robin, I would know the end of winter was almost here. Now, I see robins everywhere. Welcome, robins!

    The thing I love about robins is that they always look SO healthy with their huge chest! They will be happy tomorrow because it’s raining here tonite and there will be worms a plenty in the yard.

    We have a mass migration of robins, Claudia, and sometimes we can look out and see a yard full of them. I wonder if some of our robins made it to your yard? I’d like to think so.

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

    I was thinking the same thing today looking up at the trees. Just a few weeks ago I was thinking: when are the leaves coming? Now I look up and it’s like overnight, there they were!

    What a great photo! For me it seems that when I see the Indigo Buntings return I know it Spring..the Robins too but the Indigo has that window of time that they are here with me and I really love that time of feeding and watching them bring their young to eat.

    Happy Spring!
    Hugs,
    Stephanie ♥

    Hey Claudia, Don’t we all love the first sight of Robins in late winter? As I type this the sun is just peeking out after three dismal cold rainy days. Yippeee…warmth and sunshine and i am going outside to work. xoxo

    We don’t always get a large dose of Robins here in Orlando, but when we do, I am most delighted! Memories of my mother and my childhood come to me and it is such a happy feeling. “When the red, red robin, comes bob, bob, bobbing along…” My mother always sang that song. Thanks for a smile today Claudia and so happy spring is heading your way. Ann

    I, down on the coast of Florida, welcome the Robins every January. I try my best to take care of all who come into the yard around my home so they are once again the heralds of Spring to all the longing souls up North. I am so happy for your siting of the Robins and that they bless your yard also. Joyous Spring!

    So, so precious, Claudia! It’s almost summer over here- so hot that my poor peonies blossomed and dried after two days only :(( But at least I managed to take some pictures…
    Enjoy Sprintime!
    Sending big hugs,
    Monica xo

    Hi Claudia:
    They’ve spent most of the winter near our house, so it’s time for the snowbirds to fly back north. ;-) How wonderful for all of us that they split their time between here and there!

    I hope you have a lovely week.
    xoxo

    Ohhh, how I remember waiting for the first Robin…….their sweet song at the end of the day was so wonderful. They are the creatures I miss most from CT…..we don’t have them here in AZ and the closest thing to the sweet song are the finches. Look how fat your Robins are…I love that. Yes, I think winter is officially over for you, my friend. I know it’s been a hard one, for sure.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
